Magic Borderless v0.96 Update: Window Positioning (w/ Monitor selector)

Hello hello!
How is everyone doing on this fine day?

We're excited to announce the addition of a new feature that has been requested by many users of Magic Borderless!
It's very versatile and we're sure our options would satisfy all of your needs in window positioning!

Window Custom Positioning is a new feature that allows you to position them anywhere you want. And yes, this also allows you to place them in other monitors!

As we add more options, it's inevitable we'll run out of space in Magic Wizard. We want to try to avoid using "tabs" or "pages". We improved a bit last update to accommodate more options and we updated again to even add more!
We did our best to not look the Wizard too complicated, but with a lot of features comes with a great amount of information all over the screen.
We're really hoping it doesn't look overwhelming.

Anyways, enjoy and here are some juicy changelogs:

v0.96 Update Notes
  • Added window custom positioning (offsets).
  • Added nine alignment options for window positioning.
  • Added monitor targeting.
  • Added custom monitor labeling. You can set any custom label for your monitor to remember them better (in case you have same multiple monitors).
  • Added another mode for Window-Escape which resumes the window as soon as mouse enters the boundary again (without having to click the overlay once).
  • Added confirmation dialog for removing apps from the Configured App list.
  • Updated App Magic Wizard. To disable multi-item single selection toggles (like Mouse Lock), simply click the selected item again to disable it.
  • Fixed rare crashes on startup.
  • Fixed Window-Escape overlay not displaying on rare occasions.
  • Fixed failed Workshop mods removing the item.

If you like Magic Borderless, please spread the word and give us a good review. It can really help us keep working on Magic Borderless further and bring you more exciting features!

We always appreciate your love and support.
Happy Magic Borderless gaming!

Magic Borderless v0.95 Update: Workshop support & TONS of goodies

Yellow! How is everyone doing? :lunar2019piginablanket:

We've been working hard to get things fixed and add new things... This is the biggest major update so far and there are some more new features planned after this!

And now it's finally here! We've added Workshop support for custom translations. You can change any text in the app to your liking, or translate them into other languages!

To begin translating, make a copy of the following file:
"<Magic Borderless installation folder>/Localization/main.yaml",
open it in your favorite text editor and start translating by following the commented out guidelines.
After you save a new copy, simply go to Magic Borderless menu, and select "Steam > Workshop Tools > Upload Custom Translation" to upload your mod.

Magic Borderless tries its best to be self-explanatory at first glance. Due to this, the interface may seem a bit wordy sometimes. For Magic Borderless experts out there who already know how it works and wants to keep things simple, we've added Minimalist English. You can change them in the "Preference > Select Language" menu.

Besides the custom translation support, we're also giving you guys the full control over the how you want to craft the borderless magic. Be sure to check out the new App Magic Wizard!

We also added a temporary pause function for Cursor Lock. Currently it is bound to [Alt] + [C]. Sadly, key customization setting has not made it to this update. Don't worry though as they are still coming in the future!

We'd love to talk you through everything we added, but there are just a lot of additions in this patch so we invite you to see it yourselves:

v0.95 Update Notes
  • Steam client no longer reports Magic Borderless is running when Steamworks is disabled.
  • Auto-Detection no longer focuses the target app window upon pressing "AWESOME" button after it has been configured due to crashes with some apps.
  • Added Workshop custom translation support. Translation mods will not download/update if Steamworks is disabled!
  • Added "English - Minimalist UI" language setting.
  • Added a bunch of redundancies and internal restore point system to prevent file corruption when app is terminated while configurations are being saved.
  • Added two Spices (Persuasive Spice & Guard Powder) which you can both toggle individually. Hovering over their options will explain what they do in details. They were previously both enabled internally by default.
  • Added Revert option in the right-click context menu in case you want to restore the window from its magic. They can be reapplied from the same menu.
  • Added support for some peculiar games running on odd window styles.
  • Added Mouse Cursor Lock Boundary Reduction.
  • Added a temporary pause function for Mouse Cursor Locks. Hotkey: [Alt] + [C]
  • Added a Hotkey to apply default Magic to currently active window: [Ctrl] + [Alt] + [F7] + [F8]. This will only work if the app was never configured. It also plays a sound effect when it's successful. We know the combination is ridiculous, but since it cannot be customized yet we wanted to absolutely make sure it doesn't accidentally get pressed.
  • Added a small dialog for new users. This will only appear once before confirming.
  • Added a sound effect to Auto-Detection.
  • Added more option to Mouse Cursor Lock.
  • Improved Mouse Cursor Lock algorithm to prevent movement stutters when the window becomes unresponsive.
  • Updated to App Magic Settings UI 2.0 (now App Magic Wizard 1.0) to accommodate more options.
  • Improved window life management to keep track of applications optimally.
  • Updated the warning dialog on disabling Steamworks.
  • Ninja Mode now also restores maximized states.
  • Fixed default settings changing on next startup on rare occasions.
  • Fixed Ninja Mode working on excluded apps.
  • Fixed windows not expiring from the list if the app makes use of hidden windows.
  • Fixed tooltips not showing up on some settings.
  • Fixed some games not showing up in the list.
  • Fixed installer missing .NET Framework 4.6.2.
  • Fixed odd behaviors with screen switching.
  • Fixed "Magic Borderless" not showing when hovering over the tray icon.
  • Fixed the 0.2 second delay on mouse cursor lock when a new window of a configured app starts.

We understand that this is a huge update and can be followed by some bugs we missed. As long as we are awake, we'll try to fix as fast as possible so please stop by our forums and let us know!

Thank you, as always, and happy Magic Borderless gaming!

“This is literally the only app the gamers truly need!”
My brother

About This Software

Experience the responsive windowed gaming ON FULLSCREEN SIZE without the ugly borders!

Magic Borderless is an application to help gamers play games on fullscreen windowed without the ugly borders. Windowed mode gaming lets gamers instantly switch to other windows in the same computer while they are dead (because they suck) or waiting on loading screens, without having to see Windows go ape nuts when alt-tabbing. Some games even crash when alt-tabbed!

The app tries to help you be as lazy as possible and do the work for you as much as possible... for free*! *(Well, after you pay for the app.)

Extra helpful features are also added to assist gamers when it comes to managing windows on their monitors, such as Ninja Mode where it allows you to hide and mute a window for... um, science!

Automatic Fullscreen Detection

When you run your game on exclusive fullscreen, Magic Borderless can detect it. If this feature is enabled, it will ask you if you wish to apply the borderless magic. When the magic is applied for the first time, all you have to do is set your game to run on windowed mode once. Magic Borderless will take care of the rest automatically every time the game launches. You can also set to apply magic without asking you on new apps.

Improved Borderless Algorithm

There are different ways to make a window borderless, but all of them often has trouble resizing window properly or suffer from graphical errors. Magic Borderless has improved code to combat these issues for you and will work on even more games!

Customizable Additional Magic

Besides making your favorite games borderless, you can also set the game to run on a specific window size or simply maximize to your monitor's resolution. If you wish to keep your Taskbar up, you can also toggle it to make sure the window does not hide the Taskbar.
Some also prefer their borderless windowed mode to behave like real fullscreen apps (minimize the window on alt-tab). For those weirdos, you can set the Alt+Tab behavior to minimize the window.

Ninja Mode: Instant Hide and Mute

By pressing [Alt] + [X], you can activate Ninja Mode on your currently active window. This will not only completely hide them from taskbar and among opened windows, it will also mute that particular window only!
This feature is also available to Alt+Tab behaviors for any games you configured!

Cursor Lock

Some noob developers forgot to add cursor lock to their games on windowed mode (or they believed it is how they should behave). If you don't like this behavior, no worries! Magic Borderless can lock your cursor to that window OR the monitor (for our beloved multi-monitor users).

    • Additional Notes: May even run on a potato
    • OS: Windows 7, 8, 8.1 & 10 (32bit/64bit)
    • Processor: Intel or AMD with 1 GHz or faster, but if you have 9900K you get more gamer points
