What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Audica™ started as a passion project for a small team of developers within Harmonix. We chose to launch Audica into Early Access because we believe we have a compelling core game that we can develop into the next must-play rhythm game with your help. One of the benefits of a small team is that we’re nimble and can quickly act on community feedback, making Audica an ideal fit for Early Access.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect to exit Early Access before the end of 2019.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For the full release, we plan to have:

  • 25+ song soundtrack
  • Campaign Mode
  • Practice Mode
  • Additional environments
  • Additional weapon sets
  • Expanded leaderboard functionality
  • Possibly new gameplay mechanics

That said, we're in Early Access for a reason and community feedback may change our plans for the full version.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Audica today features a polished core gameplay experience which includes:

  • 24 Song Soundtrack featuring licensed music (and counting)
  • 4 difficulties per song
  • Online leaderboards
  • Practice Mode
  • User Model Support
  • Community Map Support
  • In-game Map Creator
  • Local Leaderboards
  • Two environments
  • Two weapon sets
  • Spectator camera

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We expect the price to increase upon full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We’re looking forward to working closely with our community and are expecting community involvement to critically shape the course of our development. We will be actively participating in discussion on our Discord, Steam forums and Reddit throughout development about topics including song selection, authoring and the development of new features, mechanics (should Audica have overdrive?), environments and weapons.”

AUDICA v0.3.2 - New Song: "Highway to Oblivion" by DragonForce + More!

Hey everyone!

AUDICA update v0.3.2 has arrived, bringing with it the most challenging track in AUDICA history - a brand new single from DragonForce that is not for the faint of heart.

Playable in AUDICA the same day it was released to the world, DragonForce’s new single, “Highway to Oblivion”, will be a true test of your skills and endurance. Clocking in at just under 7 minutes, this brutal track will test the limits for players of all difficulty levels. If seven minutes of blasting beats is too challenging for you, no need to worry, there's also a standard AUDICA length version available.

Here’s the full list of what’s included in this update:

  • New song:
    • DragonForce – “Highway to Oblivion”
      • Standard version can be found in the song list.
      • Full-length album version can be found in the "Extras" section of the song list. The full-length version does not contribute to your Total Leaderboard score.
  • Gameplay tweaks and adjustments:
    • For players who use the Valve Index Controllers or Vive Wands - we added the ability to set your trigger threshold to "click." You can use the click button at the end of the trigger to fire.
    • Added multi-tempo authoring support for the DragonForce track.
    • Improved performance while songs are loading.
    • General performance improvements during gameplay.

As always, thank you all for your continued support! See you on the leaderboards.

AUDICA v0.3.1 Update Notes - Cue Dart System Improvements and More!

Hey everyone,

Today's AUDICA update (v0.3.1) brings a few gameplay tweaks and adjustments. Most notably, we've enhanced the Cue Dart system to help you sight-read targets in your peripheral vision as well as during complex moves, such as cross-overs.

Here's a full rundown of the changes made in v0.3.1:

  • Target Telegraph Improvements:
    • The Cue Dart system has been revamped. Cue darts now have a "pre-glow" element to make anticipation easier and improve sight-reading.
    • Target speed on Expert has been increased 15% to make dense authoring easier to read.
    • The Telegraph "ring" animation has been adjusted to make rhythms easier to read.
    • Cue Dart speed is now unaffected by the Target Speed setting.
    • You can adjust the new Cue Dart settings in the "Gameplay" section of the Settings menu.
    • Added hand smoothing to reduce controller jitter. Smoothing amount can be adjusted in the "Gameplay" section of the Settings menu.
  • Gunslinging Updates:
    • Added the ability to release the Oculus Touch grip button to throw or spin the guns, making it function similarly to the Valve Index Controllers. This is off by default and can be enabled in the "Misc" section of the Settings menu.
    • Adjusted gun-swapping behavior so that your hand attracts the gun you are pointing at, rather than the closest gun, when throwing guns with the "Allow Hand Swap" setting enabled.
  • Reverted the audio settings for drum kits back to Destruct by default. We will continue to iterate on the extra kits before they're integrated more deeply across the soundtrack.
  • Fixes and Tweaks:
    • Repeated restarts and failures are now grouped together in play history on the Song Info panel.
    • Fixed elements of the in-game Map Creator not appearing in mixed reality.
    • Optimizations to mixed reality rendering when using LIV.
    • Additional general performance optimizations.

We are excited to hear everyone's thoughts on these changes. If you'd like to share your feedback, be sure to join our official Discord server at Discord.gg/Harmonix and drop it in #audica-feedback.

About This Game

Audica™ is a VR Rhythm Shooter from Harmonix, the makers of Rock Band™ and Dance Central™. Armed with a pair of rhythm blasters, you shoot and smash targets to the beat of a soundtrack featuring songs from some of the world’s most popular electronic artists. The better your timing, accuracy and form, the better your score. The better your score, the higher your place on the Audica Leaderboards.

Audica is incredibly intuitive and immersive from the first time you play - use your blue and orange blasters to shoot color-coded targets to the beat while in a breathtaking cosmic arena. On expert difficulty, Audica gameplay is intense and exacting. If you want to claim a spot at the top of the leaderboards, you’ll need to practice until you and your blasters become one, performing a tightly choreographed ballet of beat-blasting brilliance.
