When Square Enix acquired Eidos in 2009, company veteran Ian Livingstone was declared its 'life president.' Apparently this isn't a blood-bound oath, as Livingstone is walking away from the company after almost two decades, his heart still beating, to focus on other projects. These include improving UK schools and computer education, and belonging to oodles of industry bodies.

EA has planned all along to release official mod tools for SimCity, and is now finally making that vague idea more concrete. Maxis has proposed basic guidelines for the type of mods it'll allow, and is polling the community for feedback. Surprise surprise, they're more restrictive you'd hope.

"It's something we're trying to do in this game more is to offer more people the chance to get that black belt, to get some of that mastery sense as they're playing through the campaign," creative director Eric Holmes said of Batman: Arkham Origins many moons ago. Although the Arkham games have mainstream appeal, it's true that many don't understand the nuance of the franchise's FreeFlow combat. So, how is Origins going to train players? By offering the Batcave, of course.

In Origins, Batman can call the Batwing at nearly any point to fast-travel to various points on the map. A key point of interest is the Batcave. Upon entering, you'll be able to look in the environment to see new story beats, and you'll even be able to chat up Alfred, who provides you sage wisdom throughout your journey.

Just like Grand Theft Auto 5, Xbox 360 owners will have to make sure they have some free hard drive space. Ubisoft's take on Chicago in Watch Dogs will also come on two discs on Microsoft's console--and will require the same installation as Rockstar's game.

Nintendo has released a new 700MB system update for Wii U. Version 4.0.0 U offers the option to play Wii games off-screen using the GamePad. But, there's a huge caveat: you won't be able to use any of the GamePad's buttons on your Wii games. Even games that offer Classic Controller support are not exempt to this rule. I tried out Super Smash Bros. Brawl after installing the update and received a "Wii U GamePad controls cannot be used on Wii games" message when attempting to use the GamePad buttons.

Grand Theft Auto Online launches tomorrow as a free update. But, when will it be available? According to Rockstar, they expect the title update to be available on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live "starting around 7AM ET" (4AM PT). Of course, it being a massively-anticipated launch, we wouldn't be surprised if there are some hiccups once the multiplayer mode actually launches.

Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is a psychologically terrifying experience. Writer Dan Pinchbeck explained how historical figures like Hitler and Stalin may relate to his work.

"You've got to just push and push, every time you think you can't go any farther, until you end up in some really dark places," he said.

That sure is a nice nuclear core sitting at the center of your tower. It would be a shame if biomechanical beasts were to get their paws on it. Good thing you have a dizzying array of heavily-armed robotic towers in Defense Technica, a new tower defense game from Devolver Digital and Kuno Interactive.

If you've played Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, you're likely familiar with its unconventional control scheme that sees you controlling each brother with a separate analog control stick. You may be thinking to yourself that this would lend itself perfectly to co-op, but Swedish filmmaker and Brothers game director Josef Fares would say you're missing the point entirely.
