World of Speed - WoS Team

Hello everyone!

It’s been a while since we have posted any updates. It is time to share some news from the development team.

As you may know, the World of Speed is closing, with its servers being shut down on December 25th this year. The decision to stop this project was very hard to take for all of us, but circumstances can just get the better of us sometimes. Still, making great games is our passion and we do not intend to stop - rather we prefer to start again and from scratch.

World of Speed was a unique project with a lot of potentials. Unfortunately, it also came with very special demands and restrictions that weren’t always easy to handle. With all the things we’ve learned from this project, we now have to move forward and try even better. With new experience and skills as well as your amazing feedback that helped us to grow, we are looking forward to work on the independent online racing project. It will be not just a World of Speed reboot - we have something special in our minds, unrestricted by imposed limitations and external influence.

Upon deactivation of World of Speed servers, the game will be taken off Steam Store. If you like to stay in touch with the team and receive updates on our upcoming projects, you can get all important news, status updates and developer highlights via email. We will also reserve best in-game bonuses in our upcoming projects for our most loyal players as a special “thank you” from the team.

Just visit our site via the link below to leave your email and stay in touch:

With this being said, World of Speed development team would like to thank you for staying with us for so long.

This is it for now. Have a nice weekend!

Hi, everyone!

Welcome to Update 0.4! As we are getting closer to leaving the Early Access, we prioritize finding solutions for issues that have been bothering you and us for some time. We are planning to make some technical in-between updates for the Free-to-Play stage, and this is just one of them.
On top of that, we’ve studied and analyzed a lot of ranked races data and made several necessary tweaks. Plus, we’ve somewhat improved game stability and will keep improving it in the next few patches. We want to make sure that everything runs smoothly and works perfectly fine.

Get your hands on this update, GLHF!

Below you’ll find a detailed list of changes for update 0.4:

Ranked Races changes

As a part of pre-F2P preparations, we want to make the Ranked system more friendly to newcomers and more forgiving to players who deal with consecutive losses. Plus, we want to encourage players who reach certain leagues to move forward without worrying about a possible demotion.
  • Ranked Races are now available for queueing 24/7
  • Numbers of gained and lost ranked points changed from -20/-10/10/20 to -100/-50/50/100 respectively.
  • League caps increased from 1000 points necessary to promote to 2000 points.
  • Negative points multiplier for taking 3d or 4th place for several times in a row removed.
  • Positive points multiplier is now limited to x2 and is applied after taking 1st or 2d place for two times in a row.
  • All Titan Leagues, Platinum 3 League, Diamond 3 League, and Master League are now “safe”. Players can no longer be demoted to the lower League.
  • Network code algorithms for the Ranked matchmaking updated.
Player’s Profile

A profile page is something we wanted to implement for a long time. Tracking your stats and being able to affect them is something that helps players to raise their driving skills and set and achieve goals during gameplay. We’ll keep our attention on this feature, and will certainly add some new stats based on your suggestions and our observations.
  • Profile page added to the garage. You can click on the Avatar to open it.
  • You may observe other players profiles by clicking on their names in the Leaderboards.
  • New fancy avatars added as possible crate drops.
  • Avatars are now changeable. You may select any other obtained avatar from your profile page.
Other stuff
  • Gain X Drift points objectives for FWD cars removed.
  • New item type, that can be used for any tier but only once added. Upon equipping this item will be bound to the selected tier.
  • Buyable Pro Crate and Pro Crate bundles added to the Crates menu.
  • A number of fixes and tweaks performed to increase the client’s stability. The work’s not over, though, we are planning to push some more fixes in upcoming patches.

Stay tuned for more news!

Hi, everyone!

Here’s the third major Update for the World of Speed! We worked hard to get it ready as soon as possible and now we are happy to say it’s available at last. New features, challenges, balance adjustments, bug fixes and several UI improvements are here for you to try them out.

Below you can find a detailed list of changes for update 0.3:

Daily Challenges Feature

We introduced a new fancy way of obtaining items, credits and dealer points! We’ve been working on the concept of Daily Challenges for quite some time, trying to fit this feature into the game. We tried various approaches and finally decided on this. Actually, there are four “ways” or types of available challenges for you to complete. These are:
  • Beginner’s challenge - must be the easiest one. It consists of three quests, but you have to be quick to complete it, as it re-rolls every hour, each time with different rewards! Upon completing this challenge you’ll be rewarded with a common car part.

  • Driver’s challenge - a little bit harder than Beginner’s, consists of four quests, final reward is a Polished brand new item. You have an hour and a half to complete it!

  • Racer’s challenge - a set of five quests with harder objectives, goals and a guaranteed Special quality item as a reward. Three hours to complete and the item is yours!

  • Master’s challenge - this one is quite special. You have a set of seven quests and 24 hours to complete each one of them. If you complete a quest earlier, the next one won’t appear until the timer goes off, so this challenge will require a week to complete. But it will surely be worth your while. Each subsequent pair of quests has better rewards than the previous one, and the last quest will bring you an Advanced rarity item! Don’t miss your rewards!
"Challenges" icon has been added to the left side of the garage screen. Watch the indicator for the available Challenges!

Item Reassemble

Another awesome feature we are introducing in this update is making higher quality items out of those you already have. If you have some duplicates or items you just don’t need, you can now make use of them. Take four items of the same quality and fuse them into a better one!

“Rebuild” button has been added to the lower side of the inventory space. Forge with care!

Balance tweaks

More balance tweaks await you in this Update. Every car stats have been revised, as well as top speed and acceleration specifications. We’ve reduced the power of several “must have” cars and buffed some “outsiders” for the sake of making the game more diverse and competitive. We’ll continue to monitor the in-game balance and we will be happy to get some feedback.

We are already working on the next update, so stay tuned for the upcoming Dev Blogs and community posts!

See you on the road, fellow racers!

Hi, fellow racers!

We are very happy to announce that our second major update is here and ready for you to try! This update brings massive improvements to upgrade system, significant balance tweaks and lots of new features, not to mention quite a number of smaller bug fixes.c More updates are coming soon and the next one is already in the works.

Below you can find a detailed list of changes for update 0.2:

Upgrade System revamp

We’ve completely reworked car upgrade systems to make it more flexible and variative. From now on you can enhance your car by upgrading five different systems and unlocking slots designated for special items which can be obtained from reward crates. Different setups and equipped items make each car special, so no race will ever be the same.
It’s up to you to decide what are you going to max out first!

Cars rebalancing

As the upgrades were completely overhauled, every car underwent stats revision and multiple balance adjustments.

Progression system revision

Due to the Upgrade System changes the whole progression system had been revised, which resulted in the following:
  • Race rewards now fit the tier of the vehicle that is used in the race. That includes credits, experience and dealer points.
  • The amount of experience needed to advance to the next level is revised for every stage of the game.
  • End of the season rating rewards are now even more valuable! Instead of flat amount of credits contestants will receive a set of crates, unique for each league.
Crates added as race rewards

Another important change, coming with this update, is the implementation of the Reward Crates. It is now possible to get them as race rewards and find valuable loot inside, which includes:
  • Different car parts that can be used to enhance your car’s performance.
  • Boosters temporarily increasing the gain of credits, experience and dealer
  • points by a certain percent.
  • And other rewards, like credits, dealer points and even diamonds!
Plus, we’ve put some effort in client optimization, making game booting much quicker and solving several crushing issues.

Specific tires were temporarily disabled, but will return in one of the next updates, as we need some time to adjust them to the new balance and solve several issues with their influence on bet points.

...And a great amount of code improvements and bug fixes!

Have a nice time playing World of Speed and stay tuned!

Hello everyone!

It is time to share some information about new features that will be added in the following update of World of Speed.

Ranked races

The most important addition is the Ranked Race mode that will allow players to compete with each other for the top position at the global rating, composed of ten different leagues. In each ranked race you will face several selected opponents among other players and the usual rewards will be achieved along with special Rating Points. By accumulating these points you will be able to gain access to more prestigious leagues, compete with stronger players, hone and prove your skills so you can fight for the better positions to get bigger season rewards.

Racing wheels and gamepads

At the time of the Early Access the range of game controllers supported by the game without any errors was quite scarce. Initially this problem was due to a number of technical restrictions inherited by the past game , which required significant modifications to the program code. We are actively working on a solution of this problem and will gradually increase the number of devices supported to the maximum. By the moment the update is released, players will find the range of devices expanded and to return to the game using familiar racing wheels and gamepads.

New cars - Ultimate Power

The update will include a new dealer - Ultimate Power. It will add two new supercars of the top “I” tier, which are famous among all fans of powerful vehicles – the Pagani Huayra and McLaren 12C. In World of Speed these cars will set a new higher bar for speed and controllability. However, only the most experienced players will be able to truly exploit their potential as the higher speeds demand perfect skills and reaction times. Those who are capable of maneuvering the advanced difficulty of these cars will have the opportunity to achieve superb results on the tracks which in turn has the greatest importance to ranked races.

At Queen Elizabeth’s

Especially for British architecture connoisseurs we have added four new London race tracks that can provide a worthy challenge for experienced racers longing to show off their skills. Perhaps you are keen on drifts? Then welcome to Westminster, where the longest part of the track takes mere seconds to pass. Or maybe your party piece is detour alleys? St. James Loop will display a great number of alternative routes. And last but not least – the Palace and Trafalgar Chicane will satisfy the needs of high speed and drag lovers as they will be given a free hand to get the most from their cars.

Car balance improved

The October update will come with improved car balance. Right now not all cars in the game receive the correct bonuses from the upgrades. That is why a lot of rear drive vehicles show better results than the front drive ones. A striking example of that is the Subaru BRZ, which is much more efficient than not only the Abarth 500, but even the Mini Cooper whose tier level is obviously higher. The new balance system will increase the efficiency of front drive cars as well as fix their upgrade values. These changes will make the game more fair, and the process of progressing – more entertaining and ultimately – increase the diversity of cars participating in races.

Bug fixes and corrections

Along with these huge additions, we continue working on less visible, but still significant features. That is – fixes of various bugs and cosmetic corrections, which will be present in the update. Also we would like to thank all the players who help us by reporting bugs and errors discovered in the game. We keep a sharp eye out for your feedback and thanks to it, we were able to fix a range of bugs that were difficult to reproduce. Thank you!

When?

And of course the key question – when will all the changes be available for the players? Our team is working hard to complete all necessary tasks and QA checks and will add new features as soon as possible. According to our current plan, the update will be released by the end of this month.

Hello fellow racers!

Many of you have been wondering what’s going on with the World of Speed project and have been concerned about the long absence of news. We are very happy to announce that work on the game is continuing – the development and publishing of the game are now transferred to Saber Interactive.

Today the project is moving into a new phase - we are launching Early Access, which means that from this point on the development of the game will strongly depend on your feedback.

At this moment, the game is in beta stage. Although many of the key elements of the game are ready, there is still much more to be done. Our team is absolutely dedicated to making World of Speed a fun and feature rich game. We strongly believe that the success of any multiplayer game depends on its community, and that’s why it is very important to us to listen to your feedback, and why we would be grateful for your cooperation and support.

We are looking forward to seeing your ideas, opinions and designs for how you think the game should evolve. Got a cool racing mod concept? Want to see your favorite car in-game? Have a suggestion for balance improvement? Excellent! Feel free to share them on the community hub. All such feedback will be carefully evaluated, and the most well supported suggestions will be added to our development schedule to emerge in the game with upcoming updates.
