Source Engine-powered Garry's Mod is a robust physics sandbox, commonly used for putting silly faces on familiar Half-Life characters. And on Thursday, there will be a new way of interacting with it: Kinect.

Using a Kinect device and Kinect for Windows Runtime v1.6, you'll be able to use full-body character controls, join other players to take control of a ragdoll, and more. A video (via Joystiq) shows off some of the features in action.

Source Engine sandbox Garry's Mod has an adorably wonkiness to it, with every toy and machinima made in it coming out looking, well, quite a bit creepy and wrong. This dis-ease will soon grow even greater, as a coming patch will introduce Kinect support to let players control characters' movements with their own bodies.

GMod creator Garry Newman detailed his experiments in a blog post, crowned with the glorious video you see below. Players will Kinect will step into the shoes of characters, horrifying expressions and all, to make them jump, dance, run, more creepily than ever before. To up the horror, when Kinect loses track of you, characters turn into simple ragdolls and flop to the ground.

It'll work with any Kinect plugged into a Windows PC, not just the special Windows Kinect, but not Mac. The update should launch this week or the next, Newman commented on Twitter.

Creating a physics sandbox seems to be one way to get video game riches. Garry's Mod, a popular "game" available on Steam, hit the one million sales mark over the weekend. Garry Newman, creator of the mod, described the accomplishment as "more than I could have ever expected or wished for!"

The milestone will be celebrated with a new update, Newman promises.

"I know this isn’t exactly Minecraft's 2.9 million," Newman says in the announcement post. Like Garry's Mod, Minecraft is a physics sandbox that has seen tremendous success while still in beta. "But this is a pretty big deal for me considering this all started off as a tiny tiny modification about 6 years ago."

Newman apparently was unprepared for million sales milestone, saying "I did plan to release a big secret update I’ve been working on when we hit 1mil. But it’s not ready â€" you guys beat me to it." Unfortunately, he did not elaborate on what that update will entail.

Garry's Mod is currently available for $9.99 on Steam.
