Guns of Icarus Online - Inkjet

Greetings Captains and Crews of the Skies,

Get your goggles secured, visors down and toolkits at the ready. We are happy to share that we will be launching our first public playtest in a few weeks and sign-ups are up on the Stars of Icarus Store page NOW!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2278950/Stars_of_Icarus/

This will be the first public opportunity for you all to experience our new game and take your crew to the stars - this time in space. As this is our very first public alpha playtest we are limiting the numbers as we server test and check some other systems but we are holding slots for 2,000 of you.

The playtest will be running for 2 weekends and we would recommend joining Discord to find crewmates and coordinate sessions for this alpha test. You will be welcome to capture content, stream it, and share it throughout the playtest. What you’ll be experiencing isn’t the final product but should give you a good indication of the trajectory of development.

For any other questions, drop a message on Steam or join Discord.

See you in the skies,

- Jennifer

Greetings Captains and Crews of the Skies,

We’re so excited to say we’re going to bring back Icarus to events this year with our first pit stop being PAX West.

This will be the very first time we’re publicly showcasing Stars of Icarus and would absolutely love to see you at our booth if you're in the area!

We’ll be at Booth 339 so be sure to stop by, blow up a few ships (your own accidentally or others intentionally), give some feedback, reminisce about Guns of Icarus, and get a chance to get some items in-game.

See you in the skies and at PAX,

Jennifer

Guns of Icarus Online - Inkjet

Greetings Sky Captains and Crews!

In response to community feedback, we've had a look at multiple ships, weapons, and ammos. These changes are live, so hop in and let us know what you think!

Crusader

The Crusader feels a little weak right now. We're increasing it's armor to give it a little bit more survivability.

  • Armor: 530 -> 600

Shrike

  • Top speed: 38.01 -> 40

  • Turning speed: 13.01 -> 15

Immortal Gaze Heavy Accelerator Mk. S

The response to the Immortal Gaze has been positive! However, the weapon takes way too long to shoot. We've reduced the Reload Time to speed it up, and added a bit of an AOE visual to the shot to make it more visible.

  • Reload time: 10s -> 5s

  • AOE radius: 1m -> 30m (purely visual)

Immortal Gaze Heavy Accelerator

  • Fire rate: 2 -> 10 (to fix desync bug)

Immortal Gaze Heavy Accelerator Mk. II

  • Fire rate: 0.5 -> 10 (to fix desync bug)

Lumberjack Heavy Mortar

Lumberjack has been dominating lately. This change makes it more difficult to use at close range.

  • Arming distance: 200m -> 250m

Nemesis Heavy Carronade

  • Secondary: 100 impact -> 110 impact

Roaring Tiger Heavy Detonator Mk. S

The Detonator is very good at starting fires.. we've toned that down a bit. If you want to start fires with it, you'll want to use Incendiary Ammo now.

  • Base fire chance: 0%/4% -> 0%/0%

  • Damage: 8/34 -> 10/42

  • Projectiles: 5 -> 4

  • Projectile speed: 150 -> 135

  • Increased projectile lifetime (range stays at 300m)

Echidna Light Flak Cannon

  • Primary: 25 -> 40

  • Secondary: 55 -> 40

  • Burst Rounds

  • Clip size: -12.5% -> 0

  • Arming time: -25% -> 0

Burst Rounds

Burst rounds are very strong right now. This removes the ammo's ability to reduce arming range so that it isn't so good in so many situations.

  • Clip size: -12.5% -> 0 Arming time: -25% -> 0

Hello, Airship Captains and Crew!

I know it's been awhile, but we're bringing you a Guns of Icarus update! The servers will be down for about 3 hours in order to facilitate this update.

We managed to find some new decorations in the warehouse, and now we’re bringing them to you! There was also this gun sitting in a crate.. Wonder what it does? I’m sure you’ll put it to good use. We’ve also had an engineer tweak your Typhon Mk1 - It should shake a little less now.

New Weapon in PvP: Immortal Gaze Heavy Accelerator Mk. S

The Immortal Gaze Heavy Accelerator excels at breaking enemy armor at extreme range. It has built-in safeties to prevent overcharging.

  • Effective vs: Armor

  • Piercing: 140

  • Reload Time: 10

  • Magazine Size: 3

  • Projectile Speed: 800 m/s

  • Range: 2400m

  • Horizontal Arcs: 20 degrees

  • Vertical Arcs: 10 degrees

New Decals:

We’re going to the Stars next, and to celebrate that, we are giving you some brand-new Stars of Icarus-themed decals: Wings, Gear, and Orbit! Log in to receive them.

New Dyes and Badges:

I found two new dyes in the warehouse - put them on your ship, your shirt, or your hat!
Daedalus Sky and Daedalus Red Velvet Cupcakes - available in the market

And for those who competed in SCS 400 and 500, we found your badges. This cargo was lost in the desert for years, until it turned up during the latest war!

Achievements Unlocked:

It’s hard to find a crew these days, which can make some achievements tough to get. We’ve looked these over and identified some of the hardest ones, and we are granting a general amnesty and releasing all the achievements below for everyone. We salute all of you who got these achievements before today. You are true privateers of the wastes, and you can always take pride and satisfaction that you earned these before today.

Once again, from the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank everyone for all your support through all these years. While our focus will be on Stars of Icarus, as long as we are around, we’ll keep Guns alive as well.

If you haven’t already, please go to the Stars of Icarus Steam page and check it out! It’d be incredible if you could help us wishlist the game as well. I hope this next iteration in the franchise will make everyone proud. We will work our absolute hardest to make it so.

Thanks so much everyone!

And see you in the skies. o7

Without further ado, allow us to present… Stars of Icarus.

https://youtu.be/wQSOF3HGQo4

Revealed at the PC Gaming Show, Stars of Icarus is a game we’ve been working on for some time now. We couldn’t be more proud and excited to present this spiritual follow-up to the Guns series to the world.

Assemble your crew and take to the stars in, where team-based PvP dogfights are your key to conquering the cosmos. Hop into hand-crafted maps and engage in nail-biting team battles of 5 versus 5 players in three different game modes: Team Deathmatch, Bounty, and Capture the Flag. Dodge asteroids, navigate junkyards, complex space stations and more as you seek your objective.

We can’t wait to jump online and dive into the Stars together in 2026. On that note, be sure to join our Discord, which has got a new coat of paint and where we’ve also made a handy FAQ about the game. We will be hosting a few play sessions in Guns with the team there and it’s the perfect place to meet new folks to join your crew.

See you in the Stars,

Greetings Captains and Crews of the Skies!
On the heels of last week’s post, we’ve got some real news for you. We’ll be having a watch party on our Discord server on June 8th at 3pm EDT to watch the PC Gaming Showcase, and we’d love for you to join us. For us, it’s been a long road getting to this moment. We’ve been waiting quite some time to show you what's in our future.

You’ll also be seeing some updates and cleanup to our Discord in the coming week in anticipation of the announcement. We’ll be archiving some of our lesser used channels and preparing some future additions in the background.

Hope to see you then. If not, don’t worry. You can catch all the announcements here after the showcase as well.

Thanks everyone, and see you up there!

Greetings, sky captains and crews,

We want to give you a brief update. We are nearing our big announcement, and we’ll have a bit more news for you next week.

We've loved reading all of your ideas and speculation about our next project, and while we can't confirm what we are working on just yet, we do want to confirm a few things we are not working on:
  • It won't have any submarines
  • It's not a Guns of Icarus DLC
  • It's not Hamsterdam 2
  • It isn't a gacha game!
  • To Eugene’s dismay, we’re not creating fire-breathing dragons in the literal sense
  • And whatever we do, there is still no boarding
We’re so happy to see all of the activity here and in our Discord Server, from casual matches and lobby conversations, to events and competitive tournaments, and even a new war!

We hope you’ll put your trust in us again as we embark on this new enterprise. As always, we think of this community as our partners. Your feedback, ideas, and creativity help shape our work, and this will be no different.

Thanks so much again for all you’ve given and invested in us.
See you in the skies and beyond.

Greetings Captains and Crews of the Skies,

The replies from my last post had been overwhelming, and we are deeply humbled and moved by so many of the memories you shared. Thank you so much again for sharing them with us. They brought us back, and reminded us why it was all worth it. As promised, we collected every reply, and posted them here on the Guns Discord. Here are also a few that we selected to share with everyone.

Lady Elektra —
A large amount of my online friends I met through this game and have kept very close with them all these years. I came into the game pretty early in PvP. My most memorable moments include streaming Crewcible matches and participating in faction politics as a Baronie leader. I remember a big gathering of all the faction leaders on discord to discuss the current alliances (Virna Convention). Even a few devs popped in to listen to the discourse.

Magy, O.G Choppy Crew —
i don't know if the people are still here but me and a bunch of people started a cult around the remote turret and nicknamed it choppy and then it appeared in the game.

fond memories

iggy perrish —
I would say this game influenced my career choice a lot, actually. I'm an engineer now and while I don't bonk flying engines and wear color coordinated outfits, I'm really proud of how this game influenced who I am today.

[flob] Toasterkin —
I am so thankful that the people here were supportive and patient with me when no one else in my life was. Thank you for showing kindness to an otherwise annoying kid. Now as an adult with friends and obligations (no more noon-6am videogame binges lol) I still look back fondly. I let people know this game and community were there for me before I had a stable support network. An edgier, younger me needed the kindness the playerbase gave, and I'm grateful for you and my time playing.

ZIOM5000 [ign - Katya Ironstead] —
I'm not eager to leave massive paragraphs as I doubt anybody cares all that much, but you got me feeling nostalgic, so I may as well throw something to the wind..

I've got maybe 260 hours total, far from a veteran, but I've been on this ride since around the time TotalBiscuit (miss you, legend..) and many others did paid promos of the game. I've been hooked since, though usually playing in small bursts throughout the years, often trying to rope some friends into joining me, but many of them not sticking around except for one other who developed a similar fondness for GoI that I have - both him and me are eagerly awaiting whatever you guys might have for us in the future. Not many games I keep returning to every once in a while no matter what, that's for sure.

looo aka Bourei —
After the wonderful news from the Muse Games team, I, a humble fan from Japan, wanted to share a few thoughts.

I can't understand spoken English well, and I'm sure I caused trouble now and then because of that.
Even so, almost everyone welcomed me and tried to communicate with me, even through my awkward and broken English.
Sometimes people even spoke to me in Japanese, and I was truly grateful for those moments.

UrsaPolaris —
This game was the first place where I found an online community. And the only game where I was invited into a guild to which I feel an allegiance to this day. I don't have any specific memories, just general good ones. Munker Mondays, weekday hangouts and plays. one tournament. @WATER inviting me to SMGS was however a bright spot in an otherwise dark personal time where I struggled on and off with depression and life more broadly. but being accepted and having fun with people when I otherwise felt very isolated helped me turn that around. I've looked back on my active time in Guns of Icarus very fondly, and still often miss it

Rồng Sông Rangeria —
Guns of Icarus was one of the first games i owned that I could actually run on my laptop when i was younger. Back then due to my family struggling and constantly moving for work I never got to stay in one place for very long, didn't give me time to make friends or keep them. At some point, i remember seeing this game on sale with a deal to buy a bunch of copies for a reduced price. I Bought the game for myself first, played it, and then bought 12 more copies which i kept in my steam library and would gift to people i made friends with who seemed interested in it as i jumped from state to state and school to school. Ended up making a lot of lifelong friends this way. The exact memories of any actual fights i did in it or entertaining stories are kinda murky memories now. Even now in my friend group, everyone, even those i didn't initially meet this way, still talks constantly about our love for this game and how much we once enjoyed it. Whenever we start playing new multiplayer games, or see something that reminds us of it, like Barotrauma, or that new game Sand, we are always talking about how it reminds us of Guns of Icarus.

Sutternalt —
I was working a 12-hr night shift factory job. It was a weird schedule; 2 days on, 2 off, 3 on, 3 off. I was depressed and had moved back in with my parents. It was my first night shift job ever, and I found myself sitting in the basement with nothing to do and nobody around (I really didn't vibe with the area). Eventually, I opened up GoI and poked around the multiplayer, remembering playing it with friends years ago. I actually reconnected with friends from college because of the game, and would play with them for a few hours in my "mornings". That, honestly, did a lot to start dragging me out of my very deep well of depression.

One day, I decide to keep playing with strangers from the internet. Some of my fondest memories from that time are meeting and playing with a bunch of Australians. Halfway across the world, halfway across the time of day, and still all of us screaming about surprise flamethrower squids from behind or trying to work out the best build for a mobula or being patient with me when I swore my all-shotgun Spire build named "Antiballoon" was actually amazing. It was amazing — mostly for the memories — but also there was a brief 3-week period where it absolutely dominated the skies. Then, something changed during a patch. I started a whole clan because of that thing. Not a big one, mind you, but I did.

Thanks for keeping me sane and connected both to my old friends and new Australians, Muse Games. Y'all are real ones.

Thanks everyone for all the years, all the memories, all the laughs, and all the banter. This game shaped our lives. It brings us a lot of pride and joy knowing that it meant and added a little bit of something to your lives as well. It was an honor to have shaped and shepherded it. It’s been lucky for us to tap into the mysterious forces of the universe to create this game, and we are so glad to have the opportunity to share it with everyone.

Soon, we hope to be making new memories with you, together, in the skies and beyond.

Until then, see you in our Discord
