What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Feedback from the Steam Community is always appreciated. There are a few things i am not yet sure about. Are the controls fine? Is the story understandable. Is the game too hard or too easy? Are some things hidden too well? Would users enjoy Achievement hunting? What about controller support?

Also, there might be a few bugs left, that did not show in the playtesting phase. My experience has shown that these turn up very fast in Early Access. And thus help getting the final product much faster to the public.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Early Access is planned for about 3 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The main gameplay might be finished. More feedback would still be apprechiated though:

- Is the gameplay fluid?
- Are the controls satisfying?
- Did you have trouble finding the secrets?
- Would achievements increase the fun?
- Would you like leaderboards?
- Are the sounds fitting?
- Do you feel the need for controller support?

Looking forward to get your feedback in the discussion.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version of the game is nearly complete. You can play the game from start to ending. The game already has collectables, secrets, music, sounds and the ending. A few Features might be added in the future depending on the Feedback from the Steam Community.

Also see above: "How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?" and "Why Early Access?"”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will cost a little more after the release. But not that much.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I am looking forward to the feedback of the Steam Community. It did also help with my previous games and products.”

About This Game

The Quest for the BIG KEY is highly inspired by NES classics that you will no doubt recognize. It focuses more on the exploring part. It comes completely without Enemies and Battles. So if you like finding secret passages and collecting items that allow you to progress in different parts of the map, this game is for you.

Just don't die!

Features:

  • Exploring
  • Secret Rooms
  • About 10 different Pickups
  • More than 60 Rooms

What it has NOT:

  • Random Battles
  • Enemies
  • Fights
  • Puzzles
  • Checkpoints
  • Save Games
  • Long Gameplay
  • A high price

What it has:

  • Coins
  • Heart Containers
  • Bombs
  • Keys
  • More Pickups
  • Power Ups

  • Gameplay: About an hour
  • Speedrun: I did it in 20 Minutes (please share a video of your time)

Since the game is really not that long, there are no checkpoints. You won't need them. My playtesting kids (age about 5 and 7 years) finished the game in about 55 Minutes and died about 10 times. So you will have no problem as well ;)
