What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“It's easy to make the game that WE think is fun but wouldn't it be cooler to make a game that YOU thought was fun? Steam Early Access allows us to interact with community members to help build the Dungeon Crawler that everyone can enjoy. It's our hope that you will join us to make Dungeon Rustlers a fun romp through retro baddie-smashing level after level.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Once we have 50 playable levels along with 3 playable classes, the game will move out of Early Access.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of the game currently ships with one playable class and the first 25 levels of the game. The full version will include two additional playable classes and 25 more levels to romp through.

The price for the released version of the game will increase to $4.99 from it's discounted Early Access pricing.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently, the first 25 levels are playable for the knight class. Leader boards are up and running for each level as well as overall high score.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Once the game exits Early Access we will begin charging full price. During Early Access, the game will be discounted to reflect our appreciation for the communities help in making Dungeon Rustlers a hit!”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“In addition to soliciting comments for level balancing, we're really looking forward to hearing from the community on ways to improve the overall game experience.”

The Slimy Pre-Mage Patch

What's up, rustlers?
Tonight's patch contains fixes, new features, and a bunch of "under the covers" plumbing to get ready for next weeks big update: The Mage!

We think you'll find some fun stuff in this patch, including a voice for the Knight, the new "Red Slime" and actually knowing when you get hit (a nice thing to know).

As always - let us know if you hit a bug, or would like to see something tweaked.

Happy Rustling!
~Rob, Derrick, & Herb

  • Added "You Died" text during death sequence
  • Added audio queues for knight
  • Red Slime is in the house!

    Bug Fixes
  • Dying in acid no longer respawns you in a "taking damage" state
  • After dying, previously available upgrade was still pulsing
  • Music was playing even if toggled to off
  • Level-end portal being rendered on pilar (unreachable)

  • Overall volume lowered
  • Volume can be raised with PageUP and lowered with PageDOWN (slider coming soon)

  • Shakes when player takes damage
  • Now tracks player with a smoother algorithm

    Death Knight
  • Show a target on the ground of where it's going to charge to
  • Play a sound when charging
  • Pauses after emerging from portal
