What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“YBit is in an Early Access phase because it hasn't been finished yet. Currently, it is more than one third done which I think is a fair preview of what the final product will be. Also, just in case you are wondering, you will be able to continue the game as it progress because the saved files will keep working from update to update... unless something terrible happens! Just like in the story of the game. But don't worry, it shouldn't happen :)
The goal of the early access is to get some feedback from players and act upon it to improve the game. I personally think the reviews and the Steam community will help the game grow to the best it can be or at least more than it would if I keep developing it with only the feedback from my close friends.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“My personal goal is to have it on early access for less than a year, probably a lot less. I can't guarantee a date yet but I am aiming to have it done by mid 2018 or at the end of that year if everything goes wrong.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I have set up a list of what the game already has and what the goals are.
The game currently has:
  • 83 levels
  • Unfinished art
  • A few sequences of fixed dialogs during the actual amount of levels + a few extra dialogues based on the gameplay events
  • Basic movement (still needs adjustments) + 12 boxes that have different effects when the player interacts with them
  • Full keyboard control support and joystick support during gameplay
And the goals are:
  • To have around 100 (if it's possible, a lot more)
  • Final art
  • Sequences of fixed dialogs along the levels + extra dialogues based on the gameplay events
  • A finished movement + 10-15 boxes that have different effects when the player interacts with them.
  • Full keyboard control support and joystick support during gameplay

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

The game currently has:
  • 83 levels
  • Unfinished art
  • A few sequences of fixed dialogs during the actual amount of levels + a few extra dialogues based on the gameplay events
  • Basic movement (still needs adjustments) + 12 boxes that have different effects when the player interacts with them
  • Full keyboard control support and joystick support during gameplay

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The final price of the game will be gradually increased as the game has new content and features”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The goal is to improve the game based on the community. So I will read every comment and evaluate all the opinions I recieve. I can't promise to answer to all of them or include all of them, but I am looking foward to reading all of them.
Also, I may plan to add levels made by the community in a future.”

YBit Update v0.9

Hello, everyone!

There is a new update for YBit!

This is going to be the last update before the Steam release which is coming 27 October! Which is this Friday!

I added a new platform type and eight new levels for the game. With these, it also came new dialogues and I can say the second area is finished!

The great news are that not only the levels and gameplay from the second area are finished, we also have the OST for that part! And apart from the music, I added new sound effects for different situations so it doesn’t feel so devoided of sound.

Even more, I made a bunch of fixes to readjust the game to my vision and also some fixes that popped up during the playtest.

I guess I will now test till the release and hope that nothing fails. If nothing fails, the next update will bring the third and last phase of the game! If not, well, you will hear from me sooner than expected with the list of fixes!

In case you are interested, here is the full list of changes:

New

Added eight new levels.
Added a new platform type.
Added new dialogues.
New music theme for the dialogues in the second zone.
New music theme during levels in the second zone.
New sound sfx added in different situations.

Changes

Reorganized the Menu screen.
Now levels are shown in a different way.
Fixed a bug when touching sticky bugs and errors.
Changed the gameplay music theme of the first level.
Changed the menu music theme.
Changed the death feedback.
Slightly changed the movement of the player.
The first zone background is a bit brighter now.
Changed the pause menu background art.
Few optimization changes.

YBit Update v0.8

Hello, everyone!

I am going to make this one quick: a new update with loads of new things is now live for YBit.

First, the game has finally met one of the final objetives, it has full joystick support working (this means you can now navigate through menues using your joystick!)

Also, I added a new type of platform that works like springs. This, plus the last “magnet” one, will hopefully give a lot of more freedom of movement to the player. And of course, this new platform includes a new set of levels!

Apart from that, I focused on adding more feedback to the game. This included feedback for the magnets platforms so you can see when they are affecting you and I also modified the death feedback in order to improve it.

Then, minor changes including bug fixing, changing dialogues and hiding the mouse, as a friend recommended.

Lastly, I implemented Unity Analytics which will let me recover data from plays and see what levels should be balanced.

As always, here is a list of all the changes:

New

Full joystick support
10 new levels
Platform type that works like springs
Feedback for the magnets platforms
Implemented Unity Analytics

Changes

Modified death feedback
Modified some of the extra dialogues
The mouse hides during gameplay
Fixed a bug in the final dialogue

Remember, you can already buy it at itch.io or wishlist it in Steam.
