Why Early Access?

Dominari Tournament has been played by us for the last 2 years from the earliest prototype to the awesome game it is today. And yet, there is more awesome to be had... and that is where Early Access comes in. There are 3 key areas yet to refine: defects, balance, and polish.

For those of you who want to have a part in helping to shape what Dominari Tournament becomes, you'll become instrumental in helping us close out those tough to find bugs, help us fine tune the game balance to squash any dominant strategies, and finally make suggestions to help polish the game.

We also hope that the community will offer new ideas for abilities or game concepts that we can consider adding to provide even more depth!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to be in Early Access for approximately 18 months. This project started as a fun-to-tinker-away-at project that has grown up into something neither of us imagined at the beginning. We have a long wishlist of things we'd personally like to see in the final release along with ideas generated by the community.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The primary differences will be driven from the community and our own personal wishlists. The game itself is virtually "done", meaning that is 100% playable and already feels well balanced. As mentioned, we think that the community will provide lots of ideas of features that we should add that could make the game even better and so that could drive the differences between what you play today and what you play tomorrow.

A few ideas we have:
  • Asteroids that contain resources
  • Trade routes (and possibly create a 3rd resource type used exclusively for upgrades)
  • Ultimate ability cards that are selected before the game begins
  • ELO Rankings
  • Lots more

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is polished, mostly balanced (no dominant strategies that we are currently aware of), with single-player AI, a fully working a ready-to-scale 1v1 multi-player experience, and largely defect free. We play it religiously and analyze statistics to ensure a well-balanced experience.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will generally stay priced accordingly with the feature set. For example, if we add a substantial amount of features over the next year, then we could conceivable increase the price to match the content we've added. We have no immediate plans to change pricing from the initial price at this time, however.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We'll be looking to the community for ideas for additional gameplay elements, healthy discussions about gameplay balance (especially the discovery of possible dominant strategies) as well of course as reports of any defects found.”

Early Access 0.2018.02.20 Build

This release is our Early Access candidate that contains the new home planet explosion when you lose it (and the game) as well as numerous bug fixes.

Assuming we don't run into any critical defects, this should be the release we go out with very soon to the rest of the world.

a HUGE thank you to all of our playtesters for helping us shape this for Early Access. We've implemented countless ideas that you've shared and definitely appreciate all of the bugs you have found (especially those hard to find ones).

A big thank you to everyone sending in bugs/crashes as you find them!

First new release of the year, here is what is included:
  • In Single-Player, accessing Menu now pauses the game.
  • Fixed reference graphics in Tutorial.
  • Fixed bug when switching from full-screen to windowed.
  • Fixed bug that crashed the game in certain situations on window minimization.
  • Fixed bug that crashed game when having Steam names with unsupported characters.
  • Updated explosions animations.

Dominari Tournament demands fast reflexes, quick thinking, situational awareness, and resource management while delivering an edge of your seat real-time experience.
