I didnt invade poland instead I invaded all the country that loved me which were not facist but something else (cant remeber the name)
Waited a couple of years until USSR invade Poland instead of me being evil and hated the USSR was
USSR starts invading loads of countries and britian delcares war on them
USSR starts to invade Finland and Sweden and Norway
I was starting to ♥♥♥♥ myself cos they were right next to me and could invade me soon
I armed my border with all my army I wasnt worried about France attacking me but the USSR
Got italy to join an a allaince (they werent going to be useful but hey at least they were trying)
But France attacked me JK USSR attacked me
USSR destroyed my army (I had it on hard diffuclty)
Italy army comes and save the day! JK there army was destroyed faster than my army
Losing hope I asked for France and britians help they help me
They did and France and Britian saved the day not really they just held the USSR off for a bit
So then I ask for America to join the war they didnt until Britian asked
So then USSR and America had a huge war btw this took about a hour and USA won
Then I put this in a WW 2 history test at school I failed and I asked how I failed and my history teacher said it was made up and I said it isnt it was on a game then I got an hour detention for answering my teacher back

10/10 would do it all again

This game is straight up broken but not in the way you'd think.
Personally the game was really fun and playable, before it gave me a validation error.
I managed to get in contact with the creator of the game and asked for a refund or a new copy.
He never got back to me after several failed attempts to reach him again.
Do not buy this game.

This game is great, clearly it's worth the 4 dollars.
Relatively easy once you have learned the basics, from then on your way to conquer the world is achievable, there's not only one way, but many others.

I love that you can edit in a seperate program, for those that like it, creating unlimited troops and artillery is also an option, as well as changing diplomatic relations, for example, Alliances.

You can change the course of the world within a few clicks, the game is based much on how you act and how you handle situations, for a few dollars this is much appreciated, (I'm sad when I lost as Germany, I had whole EU & almost US, but the Japs betrayed me)

This game is rather vauge when explaining how to actually play the game itself. When you are brand new to this type of game you will find it difficult as it is pretty hard to tell whether you are doing well or not since you are constantly having shortages of most resources. The game is enjoyable as you slowly take land when you play as the Soviet Union or Nazi Germany. However in saying that, the game didn't really strike chords with me as I just couldn't really grasp it. When you try to improve your economy rather than going on a warpath (Mind you making your country economically sound before war is probably the first thing to do) is really hard to understand. I went online to see if I could improve my skills but I just hit a wall.

The game is somewhat fun but I personally think it will only be a hit with a few strategic enthusiasts.

A very simple, yet very fun strategy game. Feels good to build up big armies and invade countries, then building bigger armies and conquering continents :D You're not stuck with following history, so you can take (for example) the U.S. and annex Canada just because you want to :P I had several playthroughs with different countries, and the only thing that kinda killed some of them was the fact that smaller countries can't do ♥♥♥♥ xD So when I picked up Portugal and tried to invade Spain, I failed miserably. However, playing with Germany, the United States, the Soviet Union, Japan, Italy, the United Kingdom, and even France, is very, very fun.

Actually a pretty fun and good game, quite addicting like civ5, somewhat similar to civ5 in that its a Turn Based stratergy.
Everything matters in this, Diplomacy, Economy (Resources and how you spend them).
Obviously the main aspect is war and it's done really well, It's historictally accurate in terms of dates and countries involved but the end game is all up to you and your choices are what matters when it comes to winning or losing (What i'm trying to say here is you are able to make the Allies lose and Axis win, even conquer the world if you feel like it.)

Well, this would be an interesting game, if Icould play more than just the tutorial. I could start the tutorial, but when I tried to restart the game, it shows "invalid license key" and everything I found on the community page which should fix this issue, does not work on windows 8.1 - so this game is unplayable for me.

Absolutely addicting strategy game. At first I was unsure about the game, seeing as it looked like just another complicated strategy game. But this game's tutorial is amazing, and gives you enough knowledge of everything, without making it even more complicated than it seems. I'd recommend this to my closest friends if they had PCs.

Great World war 2 simulator.......Absoulutley amazing. The only issue is that I payed 5 dollers for this game and 5 dollers for the Gold edition, so there is no use in buying this version........It would be nice if steam had a modding community for this treasure.

After i managed to get Croatia it's independence i decided to randomly start war against it, because i got bored after i gave entire Russia and Europe to it.(Yes, Croatia had control over Russia and Europe, Croatia stronk)

So, Croatia firstly made an alliance with Brazil, because there is no more random country when it comes to war against Croatia and Germany. The allied with Poland, i was amused.

Then Croatia formed the "Fascist state of Albania". I died laughing.

This game has nothing to do with WWII. Here you do whatever the hell you want.

Croatia stronk, hail Fascist Albania 10/10

When I first bought the game for 75 cents, I didn't think this was a strategy type of game. Traditionally with World War II games, I picked Germany (my homeland) as who I want to play as. Instead of being evil, I hightened my reputation with neighboring countries, gave aid to countries in need, and was just being plain friendly. Then I realized that in order to make best friends with other countries, I needed their same goverment. Since I was trying to be buddies with France, I decided to go for Democracy. The only way I could think of changing my goverment was to declare war on them and immediately ask for peace by changing goverment fourm.

This was a DISASTER. France chose to decline in a millisecond. Instead of the Nazis blitzkrieging the French, the French blitzkrieged ME. After losing, I was libberated into a COMMUNIST country from the USSR who recently took Poland due to greed. I fell out of my chair laughing now since I had the support of the communists from the East, and the Italians from the South. France fell in 3 turns after I was liberated. Eventually I grew strong enough to fight back the Soviets all the way to Leningrad just like real World War 2, until they demolished me with aircraft.

The Americans were coming from the West while this happened. I had an amazing defence on the boarder of Germany and France, and when the Allies saw this, the United States of America declared war on the Allies. I was crying by this point. America has ruined the plan for all the Allies to defeat Nazi Germany, and I retook annexed France under my wing.

While Americans were fighting British men in Normany (where the American men were suppose to fight the Nazis), I was marching into Moscow with my swastika flag. Eventually I took over Italy, and the rest of my European allies.

I must say; America avoided the Cold war by reenacting the Revolutionary war of 1775-1783 in 1945. 10/10 will play as America next time to create World War III = The United States of America against The United Kingdom against The USSR.

MH: TCatS is one of the better WWII strategy games available on Steam.

The game offers a nice balance of the need to balance Trade and Economy and Military Expansion. It is not as in depth as concurrence games like Hearts of Iron, but this makes the game very Casual friendly without losing its charme for core players like me.

You can play as a nation of the given scenario time, by standard between 1936 and 1944 (so around World War II obviously). That obviously includes nations like the Soviet Union, the USA and Nazi Germany, but also stuff like Liberia, Bhutan and Guatemala. Great variety of nations. The weaker a nation is, the harder it gets for the player. (You can also set the difficulty out of 7 different difficulties to make enemy AIs more aggressive and well thinking in battle and allied AIs more cowardly and bad thinking in battle.)

One of the big upsides of the game is the real in depth Map Editor, that lets you change special properties of the map like the size of army and the exact position of cities, but also basic properties like which region belongs to which nation and creating new cities, resources, nations etc. The only thing negative is that the Editor targets towards more casual players. Changing flags and emblems of nation, as well as the relation and the behavior of AIs is only able to be changed by going into Editor .xml files and changing the codes. It lets you create stuff like WWI or Modern World or completely fantastic scenarios, but you cannot change the Planet itself sadly. Id love to play in the world of Dungeons & Dragons, WarCraft, etc., but sadly it is not given.

The BIGGEST upside is the Multiplayer of the game. It is really fun, but first off is the community pretty small, so bring some friends to play MP. Also, you mostly need a LAN device to find the servers, Id recommend playing on a LAN party or using Hamachi or better Tunngle (better networks, server and better stabilized).

Over all a pretty great game, even though the expansion to the Gold version, as well as the also pretty good second part of the franchise, is missing on Steam.

Due to me putting 130+ hours into the game, I feel like I have a right to review it.

Compared to other games such as Europa Universalis or any other Grand Strategy game, The Calm & the Storm is pretty simplistic when it comes to gameplay. Diplomacy is simple and combat is relatively easy to learn.

One thing I will mention though, is that the world market is your best friend. if you play as anyone but the U.S USSR or Germany (I'm not sure about the U.K or China) then you will become dependent to the world market. Surprisingly, the same goes to self-sufficient countries if you want to keep a fairly steady income.

That's all I'm going to mention about the game because if you download custom scenarios (which I HIGHLY recommend) then the gameplay, research, resource consumption, world market, etc will change depending on the scenario.

For an example, I downloaded a scenario that let me played as the Holy Roman Empire in 1936, I fought the Nazis, conquered Europe, and fought the USSR and the U.K as a pro-Fascist SuperPower. Yes, Hitler was beaten by Julius Caesar.

I definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to get into Grand Strategy games. This is a good place to start with it's cheap price and its simple gameplay mechanics.

This game could help give people a better understanding of just how fragile the eco system of war is, giving them a sense of realism that is not found in most other strategy games. Unfortunately it's that same level of realism that might make this game unplayable for other gamers.
