What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“In its current form, Boost is solidly entertaining. However, there are additional features that will be implemented before the full version is released. There are likely bugs that will need to be identified and squashed with feedback and help from the community. The VR medium is a passion for many developers but it is also a financial risk while in its infancy. As an independently funded project it was necessary to release Boost in early access so to provide some revenue to sustain its growth.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“My goal is to have the full version released sometime before May 2017.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will feature local asymmetric multiplayer as well as an online leaderboard and Steam achievements.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Single Player mode (score attack) is a complete and fully functional experience. Alternate control configurations, height calibration, and an aim assist mode are also available.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The cost of the game will likely increase slightly, but my aim is to keep the price competitive with similar VR games of this genre.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I'd like to address bugs and common gripes. I'm also interested in new feature suggestions. I can't promise anything but I'm open to your thoughts.”

Boost Version R1.2 is Now Live!

It's a substantial update! I've addressed many of the criticisms and suggestions that I've received thus far (though there is still much work to be done). A special thanks goes out to the r/vive community for supplying so much constructive feedback. I especially want to thank Jason W, Tayloor and DoenerKalle for their many insights. I hope you'll all continue to help me shape this game, and I invite everyone to participate throughout this open development process!

  • Paddles: The orientation and design of the paddles have been reconfigured for comfort and play-ability.
  • Power: The paddles are also more powerful so you should have no problems volleying the ball across the chasm.
  • Trackpad Movement: You can now use the trackpad to situate the game world more comfortable within you play space.
  • Mine positions: The mines have been re-positioned so they don't spawn so close to the player.

Hotfix: Rotate and Position Play Space with Trackpad

Hi everyone,

I just added a feature that lets you use the Vive's trackpad to rotate and re-position the in-game play space to better accommodate different real world room setups.

Press left and right on the trackpad to rotate the world. Press up and down on the trackpad to move the world forward or backward.

Have fun!

A Humble Plea + Bugs/Critiques List

Hello Steam-mates,

I'd like to make a very important and heartfelt request in regard to reviews.

When reviewing this game please keep in mind that Boost is an early access title and development is ongoing. There is no risk in trying this game, given Steam's excelent return policy. You may find that there are things you do not like about the game. I want to hear about those issues so I can improve the experience! But if you think the game, though flawed, has potential in its current form, I humbly request that you write a positive and honest steam review.

If you must leave a negative review, I'm at your mercy. But please remember, that as a reviewer you have great power. And with great power comes responsibility. Negative reviews have a strong impact on sales. And without sales, the task of improving the experience becomes extremely difficult if not impossible to sustain. Thanks for hearing me out.

I also wanted to let you all know that I've started a new discussion in the community section that I hope will serve as a repository for bugs and critiques. I really want to make Boost the best experience that it can be. I invite you all to contribute in this early access open development process.

Thanks again!

About This Game

Important: This is an active game. Be sure your play space is unobstructed and meets the requirements listed.

Boost is an intense arcade action-sports game that will leave you joyously gasping for breath! With a focus on active play, a few rounds of Boost is sure to wake you up and get your blood pumping!

Teleoperate your Luma-Jock in the 3rd Galactic Quadrant's finest arena. Use your Luma-shield to Thwonk the Booster Orb and keep the rally going as long as possible. Every four returns you'll achieve a Boost and the orb will increase its speed. Keep it up for long and you'll be rallying with your opponent at near relativistic velocities!

Watch out for Mines as you leap and dive for survival. Mines have a reverse photon charge and will destroy your Luma-shield and the Orb on contact. Not to worry! Your Tele-gloves have a positive charge and you can use them to bat Mines out of the way. However, be warned that Mines will accumulate with every Boost and you'll need to keep their numbers low if you want to prevail.
