What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

Because we want to add more levels, features and polishing, and we would like feedback for that!

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

This is why we need your feedback. We have so many ideas about Eye in the Sky. We have created a solid base on which we can expand but your likes and dislikes will be instrumental in determining the life span and development time of the game. We will keep you updated on our website on all the current estimates based on your feedback and the features that we decide to implement.

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Content, content, content!
Developing for VR has overloaded our brains with ideas about how the players can interact with the world around them. We will throw all of them at you, keep the ones that stick and throw away the ones that don't. Our main goal is more levels with more mechanics. Our second goal is to have new environments that explore what the Vive is capable of in terms of immersion. And finally polish. If something is worth doing it's worth overdoing and we want to take our visuals and sound from "cool" to "Amazing"!”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Eye in the Sky is a platform. It is our playground to explore the possibilities of VR as game developers. Currently the game has the most solid mechanics we could think of and the best graphics and sound we could manage whilst still getting some sleep ;). It isn't finished but we feel confident in putting it in your hands.

This post will be updated to reflect further early access releases.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The price will go up slightly at final release to reflect the amount of content in the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“In any way we can! We are a small team and we can use all the help we can get. Reading feedback and play testing daily is something we are doing currently but if you have great ideas for additions to the game we will be happy to talk to you.”

An Eye in the future #1

As we aproach the two month mark of our early access release we felt it was time to share our thoughts with you on what we're planning for Eye in the Sky.

Behold! The Inner City. A huge contrast compared to the Junkyard. This is just a glimpse of some of the eye candy we're going to offer you in the next set of levels!

What makes every puzzle game better? Lasers. You're going to explore a high-tech facility with lasers, touch screens and a bunch of the puzzle elements you've already encountered! The Inner City is a direct gameplay and story follow up on the levels that are already in the game.

We're also planning to implement more story content. The "how and why" the Light and Eye team up to solve puzzles and work their way into the robot city will unfold in a "tutorial" level.

While the new batch of content is still in development, we hope this little sneakpeak will help ease the wait!

We have really enjoyed your enthusiasm so far! Whether it be the gameplay video's on youtube, the approval of your reviews or feedback on the discussion board, we - the VinLia Games team - want to thank you for your support!

Patchnotes Eye in the Sky v0.2.4

Hey all. Here's a quick patch trying to get some stability in before summer gets too crazy!

General
  • Disclaimer adjusted to automatically dissapear when the loading of the game is complete
  • "Restart Level" should now properly restart a level even if the game failed to load the level the first time

Single Player
  • Single Player has been removed

We're sorry to announce single player is being shelved. This was originally put in to see what people would think of at least having the oppertunity to play Eye in the Sky when none of their friends were around.

However, these singleplayer levels lacked polish and the gameplay we so carefully designed for 2 players wasn't compelling enough in a single player setting in our eyes.

We quickly noticed the majority of people did not enjoy these levels and even worse, some lost appetite to try out co-op - which is what we intended as the main game content from the start.

With feedback clearly showing people really enjoy playing co-operatively with their friends and family we realised it was best to keep working on making co-op as amazing as it can be and build more levels for that - which in turn meant singleplayer would never get enough attention to shine.

We hope you can accept our decision as we try to bring you even more co-op levels soon!

About This Game

This game requires a HTC Vive and a second human (both not included).

Eye in the Sky is a large asymmetrical local co-op escape room for the HTC Vive.
Take up this challenge of perspectives and communication with a friend (or enemy, we won't judge). Traverse a post-apocalyptic world from two different view points and help each other solve the puzzles that lay ahead.

The VR Player takes on the form of the "Eye". Interacting with objects in the world from a birds eye view and guiding the "Light" to help find pieces to the puzzles they have to solve.

The PC Player will be the "Light". A small robot, seemingly insignificant but essential for the "Eye". Venturing into the nooks and crannies of the world where the "Eye" can't reach, the "Light" can gather information, guide the "Eye" to hidden areas and collect vital parts of each and every puzzle.

Key features

- Taking full use of HTC Vive's roomscale feature - All levels are built to fit
in a 2m x 2m area (If you can't reach something it's probably the PC players task to get there!)

- Two ways to experience and play the game, PC or VR!

- A large escape room experience that builds on its complexity the further you and your friends venture into it.

The game's future

After the initial early access release we are going to look into more content and
features, depending on community feedback this could include;

- More levels tied into the main campaign.
- Achievements
- Improved audio and graphics
- Possibly Steam-integrated co-op

So be sure to share your thoughts on our community hub!
