What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

The journey began in 2014 when ZeroTransform was founded. Vanguard V was nothing more than a single level prototype featuring a girl and her A.I. companion. As VR started grow, so did our desire to create a studio that could dedicate its efforts to the platform. We released a couple titles as we began laying down the foundation for ZeroTransform. Proton Pulse and Pulsar Arena hit the marketplace while we continued to fine tune our process and grow as a studio. The goal was to reach a point where we could develop Vanguard V to its full potential, a bar that was higher than our abilities in the beginning.

Vanguard V is now ready for our full attention. We have the team, we have the tools, now we just need to execute. We can do this with your help.
  • Try out the levels as they’re developed.
  • Get a 360 view of the studio as we discuss our development process in the Dev Corner section.
  • Participate in community surveys and help shape the title with your input.

Join us on our journey to make Vanguard V a reality and be part of VR history.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Until completion. We are targeting Spring of 2018 for the final release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version features level commentary from the devs, a Dev corner section featuring 360 video that showcases a behind-the-scenes look into development, and other extras (soundtrack, art). As the player, you become part of the game's growth and can witness the evolution of game design first hand.

The full version will focus on the title and less on the development process.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Fully playable version of level 1 and 2, dev corner, and extra features all function.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will gradually increase as more content is made available. The full title price is estimated at a price point of $29.99.

Extra features will be added over time so make sure to grab it early so you don't miss out on any of the goodies. Examples include artwork, music, and other neat things.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community will get a behind the scenes look at the game development process through the Dev Corner section of the title. It features 360 video inside the studio discussing things we are tackling during development.

We will also be engaged through surveys to get feedback from the community on key aspects of the title. They will help shape the title while we prepare it for launch.”

Adjustment to Controls and Boss 1 Update

There have been a few requests to take a look at a variety of input methods. We take feedback very seriously so today I'm happy to announce the introduction to a few additions to the controls.

First, independent movement of your character. You can now move your character with the touch pad to adjust her within the visible play area.

Second, firing mode toggle. You can press into the VIVE touchpad to toggle between two firing modes. The default is independent aiming with vulcan shot on trigger and homing laser when trigger is held down (hold to lock targets, release to fire).

The second method is directional aiming. The targeting reticle is locked to in front of the character and fires directly in front of her. You can look to auto lock / fire with the homing lasers and use the triggers to fire the vulcan. This method is very much like previous rail shooters.

We also made some progress with the Boss 1 level. Right new we're tackling a bug in VR performance with our cloud system. This level ranges from 300-600 fps in non-VR, but drops to the low 40s when VR is enabled. I'm confident we'll be able to figure it out.

You may have noticed towards the end of the video that Qu has a big head. This is our first introduction to cheat codes. Type bigheadmode on the main menu and press enter. Do it again to turn it off.

Are there any cheat codes you would like to see in future updates? If so, reply with your ideas and we just might add it to our planned list.
