First and foremost, don't buy this game with the intention to never buy any DLCs afterward. You WILL buy the DLCs, and if you legitimately can't afford it, you're going to be pretty frustrated with how much it's waved in your face and once you realize that the base game alone just isn't as fun as it would be with, say, some puppies and kittens roaming around your house and ruining your furniture.

That being said, you don't need every single DLC to make the game greater than the vanilla. I've played the base game alone and with a few DLCs for God knows how many hours on disk before I transferred over to Steam, and I found myself endlessly entertained with just Pets and Ambitions added in. Even now I'm still not interested in putting money out for more DLCs just yet -- I'm still very content with just the two Expansions.

If you want the DLCs, wait until there is a sale. You're going to be extremely disappointed when you actually get into the added content.. because there just isn't enough to justify the prices. I'd say Ambitions is probably one of the only ones worth the price (mind you, I haven't played Supernatural or Into the Future) but otherwise you're going to want to wait for the price to drop.

If you can find a happy medium with what you've got, this game seriously is just so fun. And hey, if you're stuck with the base game and get bored, just download some custom content made by other players. :)

It is a Fun game but wait for a sale then buy it.

Why I like it?
Because you can build your own home, Create Sims, Have Families.
The DLC makes the game even MORE FUNNER, *Wait for a Good Sale*
Because it adds more features and things to chose from.

If you like Death; You can kill your Sims. Also a Code to be Rich *Shift, Ctrl, C: Hold Down* and puch in Motherlode to be rich.

Welp, Enjoy hours of fun; but every game has their prons and cons.

Right now I'm addicted to this game.
The Sims 3 is probably the most fun I've had playing a Steam game since Garry's Mod.

The gameplay is simple; you create your own Sim, whether it be yourself, a celebrity, one of your best friends, your boss, coworkers, mom, dad; the possibilities are endless. You then buy a house, furnish it, and you are all set. You can even have multiple Sims in your house as well.

This game is basically a life simulator; give birth, nurse a baby, send him/her to school, get a job, grow old, and die. There is a big and blooming mod community, so tons and tons of mods are available to download. The graphics are a bit dated, and the Sims look more like Barbie or Ken dolls, but the gameplay makes up for it.

There are multiple expansion packs, but try to get them on sale because with a Canadian price of $19.99, that is way too much for only minor changes to the game. The expansion packs are only $4.99 CAD now, so try to get them all before the sale ends.

+VERY addicting
+Seeing what your Sims do, how their kids do in school
+Easy-to-use interface
+Lots of expansion packs
+Realistic animations

-Expansion packs cost way too much money, Into the Future for $39.99?
-The fact it's an EA game
-Graphics look dated, especially clothes, they look pixelated and murky
-The fact Sims do whatever they want, regardless of your control

Overall, extremely fun game, and you will probably get hooked. I say buy this for full price, but if you find it on sale, get it then. :)

I have a couple hundred hours on disk version, back when this game was first released

I can't believe what a microtransaction wasteland this game has become, I spend £6 on this game to be told "LOOK AT ALL THIS STUFF YOU DON'T HAVE" and have it dangled in front of me whenever I'm creating a family, buying items for my home and building stuff.

I do think the price is a pretty good deal for the amount of time you'll get out of it, but the base game is genuinely just showing you all this stuff you should buy, and it honestly gets extremely annoying. It's not really what I remember when I first started playing it, sure, it's the same game, but it's so full of "LOOK AT THIS ITEM FOR 200 CREDITS"

Also if you want all the expansions you'll have to part with a LOT of money, Sims is definitely one of my favourite franchises of all time, but the old ones didn't throw DLC in your face, sure, there was a metric f*ckton of expansions that you CAN buy, but it wasn't plastered all over the game. Honestly, the game is great, the DLC isn't.

Should I buy The Sims 3?

Even if you have mixed feelings about the simulation genre of games, I think every gamer should try out The Sims 3. It's normally 20 USD, but when it's on sale it's cheaper and worth buying.

But all of these DLCs! How can I ever afford all of this for one game!?

Try the main game first. If you hate it, don't buy any expansion sets. If you like it, maybe look into buying the ones that look good (Research them first!). If you love it and want more of it then I would still be careful as some expansion sets (Mostly the Stuff Packs) are NOT worth 20 dollars. Maxis is a good game studio (RIP), but EA are a bunch of greedy scumbags that would sell their mothers into slavery if it meant they could make a few extra bucks.

Is it fun? Is there a point to the game?

Much like Minecraft, the goal of the game isn't really set in stone. You do what you want to do in it. There are no rules or ways that you have to play it. If you want to create a family that goes through life with success, you can do it. If you want to make sims just to find ways to kill them, then you can do that too. There is quite a bit of customization and building in this game so go nuts.

Some people will like it. Some people will hate it. Some won't get it. Some will see it as a glorified doll house (It is). I can't really explain exactly why I like it, but I guess it's because I like making people and doing things that I can't do in the real world such as making a fat unattractive socially awkward nerd get all of the ladies (It's not me, I swear ^_-) Also I like making people I know and even some famous people.

Yesterday I made a somewhat famous youtuber (MrRepzion) and he's currently moved in across the street with his gay black lover (He's not really gay irl, but it's fun to think he is). He is now currently becoming a blogger on the internet with his lover Uhuru.

OMFG SUMMER SALE! 5 dollar an xpac! What should I do?

Well if you were on the fence about buying an xpac, buy it now, because this is about the price this stuff is actually worth. The EA store items (Which you can see via the game launcher) are not worth paying for even when on a sale. The stuff packs are also pretty lame. Get the expansion packs as they add in the most to the game (There are 11). That's around 60 dollars (Showtime is not on sale! HOWEVER if you buy it with the main game it's only 7 bucks)

This or The Sims 4

In my opinion The Sims 4 is a good game, but a bad Sims game. It takes several steps back even if you compare the base games with no expansions. The graphics are better, the sims are more detailed, and the social aspect (of the sims) is better. Everything else is 15 steps backwards. No open world, No in depth color or patterns designs. Fewer community lots. Fewer sim traits to pick from. Mods are not supported well for The Sims 4. Worst of all they are asking 40 dollars for the expansion sets. (20 dollars for the extra item sets). If 20 dollars wasn't worth it for The Sims 3 expansion sets, what makes EA think that 40 is more fair? Oh yeah that's right, EA doesn't give a ♥♥♥♥. They just want your money. They even are willing to sacrifice their development companies to get that money.

So uh... The Sims 3?...

Oh yes! It's a fun game. EA doesn't deserve your hard earned money, but this is a good game nonetheless.

Take advantage of the 75% markdown.

After playing around with The Sims 3 today, I have found a ton of new mods for it on the ModtheSims website. These mods add in new buy mode items, hairstyle, patterns, and pretty much everything the stuff packs have to offer. Some of the user mods actually look BETTER than the official stuff packs. Thus, even though everything is on sale OPT OUT OF BUYING THE STUFF PACKS. They are not even remotely worth the money and yes I mean the price of them on sale. Why pay 5 dollars for a few dozen new items when you can get user created mods that are not only free, but rival the official content.

The same goes with The Sims 3 store items (The ones you buy with simspoints) Do not buy it. You are literally wasting your money.

Firstly, this game is an easily controlled game, you can create characters, pets and houses. You can get jobs and earn Simoleons (money). (You can choose the job you want.) You can also buy DLC (which I have done and got Pet Plus) which is really good. This is good if you want to design a new house or look at some new house ideas! I find it really fun when you get your Sims to go out on dates, when they Woo Hoo and most importantly when they get married!

Secondly, NO! THIS ISN'T A MULTIPLAYER GAME! All of my friends have been saying these exact words to me:
"Oh, Golden Soldier, I'm free today, wanna join up on Sims?" NO I DON'T! CAUSE I CAN'T!!!!!! Lot's of people think It's multiplayer when it's not, they think you're on their world but your not, It's the computer! Well, that's the long answer, short answer no, It's not multiplayer.

Finally, I find this game fun to play once you've just finished a test, having friend issues or just plain bored. I also like playing this instead of doing my Math homework! I would rate this 4 ½ /5 (4 and a half out of 5.)

You actually read this whole thing? GOOD ON YOU! Thanks.
Golden Soldier.
