Medieval II: Total War Kingdoms is the official expansion to last year's award-winning Medieval II: Total War, presenting players with all-new territories to explore, troops to command, and enemies to conquer.

Kingdoms is the most content-rich expansion ever produced for a Total War game, with four new entire campaigns centered on expanded maps of the British Isles, Teutonic Northern Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas. In Medieval II, you were only given a tantalizing glimpse of South America, but in Kingdoms, vast tracts of land in both North and South America have been opened up for you to conquer. All-new factions from the New World are also now fully playable, including the Aztecs, Apaches, and Mayans.

Along with the new maps in the Britannia, Teutonic, Crusades, and New World Campaigns, there are 13 new factions to play, over 110 units to control, and 50 building types, adding up to 80 hours of new gameplay. Kingdoms also offers new multiplayer maps and hotseat multiplayer, a first for the Total War series, allowing you to play one-versus-one campaign games on the same computer.

  • Four new campaigns - Britannia, Teutonic, Crusades, and New World
  • 10 new units
  • 13 new factions
  • 9 new agents
  • 50 new buildings
  • 60+ new territories across four new maps

This game was the reason why I fell in love with the Total War series. The combat in it was awesome due to the size, although nothing like its successor's. The game made it great due to the extensive mods that were developed for the game. I played the Third Age: Total War mod endlessly, based on the Lord of the Rings books, as well as the Westeros: Total War, based on the A Song of Ice and Fire books. This game is a great game in itself as well. Get it on one of its specials due to its age but worth it either way.

Graphics: B - Great for the game style.
Sound: B - Good sounds.
Gameplay: A - Very fun gameplay, growing an empire is awesome
Story: B - Pretty alright story campaign.

Not a mindblowing expansion, but it does some interesting things. If you're a history nut, the region specific campaigns will probably be right up your alley. From a gameplay perspective it doesn't bring anything new to the table but doesn't suck either.

The best TW expansion content wise, adds 4 campaigns and is a must if you think about getting any mods. talking about mods, the game has a huge mod community from LotR,GoT, to realism mods , if you dont have it yet, get it! 10/10

Awesome game!! Not only will you spend hours on the vanilla game, but there's also loads of mods. If you're a Lord of the Rings fan, you're in luck. There's also mods that add to the vanilla game such as more settlements and units. This game is fantastic. I've only played about 60 hours, but I'd recommend this to anyone who likes strategy games. I use to play Civilization 5 all the time, but since I've bought this, Civilization 5 looks so borring now XD.

So this adds four new campaigns to the game, and some other stuff I don't entirely remember. The campaigns are fun, focused on specific areas/eras, and can provide something players of Medieval II's grand campaign could not provide with this level of detail.

Britannia lets you fight it out with England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales in the late 1200's and early 1300's, which means that this scenario covers the struggles between England's Edward Longshanks and Scotland's William Wallace. The Crusades focuses on the most famous period of that conflict when personalities like Saladin and Richard the Lionheart ran around. Teutonic covers another crusade in the form of the Teutonic Knight's vicious assault upon Eastern Europe. Lastly, The Americas lets you play with the Aztecs just when the Spanish show up to createa new empire... with guns!

All of these campaigns are cool in their own way, with new factions and units and lots of opportunity for excessive violence. When you get bored of these however, you have the option of checking out some of the best and most thorough mods ever made for any game. There are plenty to choose from, but Third Age: Total War is probably the best of the bunch. So when the English, Arabs, or Teutons get boring for you, you can play with Gondor, Rohan, Elves, and Mordor's endless hordes instead. And it is awesome.

If you want, or have, Medieval II, you should get this too. The campaigns it comes with are plenty good, but the mod options add so much replayability that you could find yourself playing this game for a very long time. :o

This is second to best TW game in my opinion, tied with Shogun 2: total war. IT IS A GREAT GAME. Four game modes. Britanna: who will rule the isles of Britian? The English, Welsh, Scots, Irish, or Vikings? You chose! Cursades: What will shine atop Jerusalem? The Cresent or Cross? Pick a side and ensure your religon wins this bloddy battle over the middle east. Tutanic: (Mispelled) Side with the Catholic Knights, and ensure that the Pagans of East Europe met only death, or Side with the Pagans, and make sure your people earn their freedom! Americas: (My favorite) Play as new Spain and conquer the Americas (What I did.) or dirve out the starngers from your homeland!

My personal favorite is the Americas campaign, which adds several native factions and European conquerors. The Crusades campaign focuses on the near East and the conflict between crusader states and Muslim kingdoms. The Britannia campaign portrays the struggle for supremacy between Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Norway, England, and the English barons. Finally, the Teutonic campaign includes the Teutonic knights, who have the most badass units.

Good addon but with flaws.

It's hard to review this expansion as 1 big addon because it adds 4 extra separate campaigns so I will review each campaign individually.

First off, the Americas campaign:
The playable factions of the Americas campaign consists of Apachean Tribes • The Aztec Empire • Chichimec Tribes • The Mayans • New Spain • The Tarascans • The Tlaxcalans and the unplayable factions (usable in custom battles, not campaign) are • England • New France.
And now for the fun factor (the most important part,) the Americas campaign is a very fun one (and it takes a lot for me to say that -- normally i'm not a fan of the campaigns of the Total War series; I mostly do custom battles) also as far as new units go there are a lot of unique units among the assorted factions (unlike the base game *cough* the italian factions *cough*) so each faction feels unique.

My rating of the Americas campaign would be an 8 out of 10.

Now the Brittania (British Isles) campaign:
not a lot to say about this one the playable factions are England • Ireland • Norway • Scotland • Wales. the unplayable faction is (again, custom battles only) the Baron's Alliance.
Now the fun factor. Meh, it's an ok campaign but not great and the factions seem like CA just copy/pasted Scotland's (early period) unit roster into most of the factions (- England -- they got their own from the base game).

The rating I would give this campaign is a 6 out of 10. It's a fun campaign but it is easily forgotten and the factions are mostly the same unit-wise.

Now the Teutonic campaign:
The playable factions are Denmark • The Holy Roman Empire • Lithuania • Novgorod • Poland • The Teutonic Order, and the unplayable factions (again they can be used in custom battles) are Mongols • Norway.
The fun factor -- this is a good campaign as the factions are fairly unique (no carbon copies like in the Brittania campaign) as far as units go and the campaign map is a good size (again other then the brittania campaign.)
I would rate this one a 7 out of 10 -- better then the Brittania campaign but not as good as the Americas campaign.

Now the Crusades campaign:
The playable factions are Principality of Antioch • The Byzantine Empire • Egypt • Kingdom of Jerusalem • The Turks, and the unplayable factions (again they are playable in custom battles) are Mongols • Venice.
Fun factor -- this campaign is also good, except the factions are not quite as unique. The Byzantine Empire is basically The Byzantine Empire of the base campaign (other then the Greek firethrower, my favorite unit in the game.) The same is true for Egypt and the Turks. The Principality of Antioch and the Kingdom of Jerusalem are both very unique (mostly all unique units.)
I would rate this one a 7 out of 10. It's better then the Brittania campaign, about equal to the Teutonic campaign but not as good as the Americas campaign.

The overall rating I would give the full expansion is an 8 out of 10. All of the campaigns included are fun to play.

The best of the best in Total War series. The battle mechanics, the timeline and the history all make this the most interesting Total War game. Although it has gotten a bit dated and after taking over the world a couple of times with very hard options the game might get a bit repetitive feel, the replay value is very high anyway.

There are things such as bribing, politics, weddings, relations and such that feel either futile or too complex to handle to be of genuine benefit in reaching the ultimate goal and it often seems as if the AI is focusing to bring down the player together as the game gives no information about actions that provoke a faction that does not even share border with the player, but atleast it makes the game erratic and every playthough is different.

This game includes hundreds of hours of interesting gameplay, with so many different factions to choose from.
That music, too. It's so, so good.
Since it's Total War material, it goes on sale very often up to around 75% so I'd advise to get it around that time, but it's still more than worth it at full price.
The only major thing that bugs me about this game is the lack of a good campaign-map multiplayer in the vanilla game.
