What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Core aspects of the game is already implemented and we are now focusing on achieving that delicate game-play balance and adding late game content. This requires player feedback; not just one but many. Early Access is the perfect fit for this.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The honest answer here would be: As long as it takes to achieve that golden game-play balance. A rough ballpark of this duration would be between half a year to a year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Polish and volume.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Core aspects of the game is already implemented and we are focusing on achieving that delicate game-play balance and adding late game content. At the time of the release, it should have four fully functional levels out of the planned twelve. Subsequent patches will follow to add unique levels and content.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Price will stay fixed during Early Access, but will definitely be priced higher upon full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We've learned over the years that community feedback is much faster and often more accurate when it comes to balancing and bug fixing. We've also learned that community involvement gives birth to many great ideas. We are open to listening to our community at anytime.”

Build 0.23a Released!

Build 0.23a arrives with the new camera and graphics!

Please note that if you are experiencing graphical glitches of any sort, please report them via forum :D

Also, most people should experience performance boost, provided that your system meets the minimum hardware requirements. But, if you are running an ancient system, performance will drop or even not run at all. I am just putting this word out because I know that some people (very few but some) are running the game with lower specs than the minimum requirements. Anything with quad core processor, 4G+ RAM, and a gaming GPU manufactured in the last 5 years should be good. I have a test bench with AMD HD7850 from 2012 that runs this game without any issues at 60FPS.

New Features
  • New Camera perspective
  • Graphical revision of all five levels
  • Deprecated MSAA for TAA, HDR and motion blur support
  • Change in rendering path (forward -> deferred) which will improve lighting performance
  • New decal system (Improves visuals and render performance)
  • Level specfic lighting and sun simulation (underground levels don't experience time of the day)
  • Improved Screen projection algorythm (better staff drag and zone building)
  • Supersampling (render scale in options) is no longer supported and removed.

Known Issues
  • Staff area settings not saved (for compatibility reasons)
  • Fighting (Brawling) is temporarily disabled.
  • Magazine subscription save file support (for compatibility reasons)

Camera perspective change

I am considering a change in camera perspective and was wondering how you guys felt. Take a look at the wip screenshots. The top half is the new camera and the bottom half is the current camera.

There are definitely pros and cons to both camera styles, so try not to bring just hate or love :D

0.23a will probably feature this new camera, and if it seems right, then the camera will stay that way. Otherwise, I will revert back in the following patch. I just think we should all give it a try.

Let me know how you guys feel.

About This Game

By word, by book, the tales of the brave and mighty are told in reverie. Every warrior is remembered, his stories spreading like a magician’s flame. But, what happens after the story? Where does the hero go after slaying the dragon, rescuing the damsel and freeing the people from an untold terror? No one really knows what happens to the old and retired soldiers. They listen of course, to the very far fetched stories that are passed down from mouth to mouth. Where? In the very taverns that are bustling with legends and the young at heart.

After years of roaming free, slaying evil and merrymaking in halls of drink, everyone takes an arrow to the knee. They have obligations and duties but most of all, the retired life is boring and redundant. They miss the dangers and wish they were young again. What better way to relive the life than to run a tavern? Travellers and adventurers from all kingdoms, far and wide come aspiring for fame and glory. They tell tales of their adventures, transforming cotton tails to horrendous beasts, morphing storms to witchery! All the danger relived in safety because at the end of the day, the warmth still burns in the fireplace.

Your job is to run the tavern - Dragon's Hangover. Some will seek drinks and food while some might seek the warmth of a bed. Manage your tavern and be the host that all adventurers admire. Your journey, as the tavern's keep, begins now.
