Development in process.

Hello, guys! A small report of what we've done. Over the past month are well acquainted with the unreal engine, sketched starting location. Plans to slightly modify it, and add neighboring areas on the background (necessary?). Also dabble with VR support which will be available in the updated version. We plan to finish everything by the end of September.

About This Game

The mind dissolves in the surrounding darkness like pain dissolves in wine. Remains of memories crumble and rapidly leak like sand through fingers. And only one name stuck in the throat filled with fear. Magdalena... Minutes feel like days while waiting for something to happen. So the shadows become longer when the day dies.

The light will direct your path

You play as George, who got through bloodcurdling events. The light will help you to find out these events.

Recall Everything

In order to gather a complete picture, you need to find all the fragments of memories and piece them together. What’s hidden behind the room’s door you can’t open? Restore the chronology of events and find the last element of the picture — a key to the room that’s been locked for years.

Explore the World Around

You can move and view every object in the house and outside it. Search for the clues that will lead you to the truth.

We were inspired by the Edgar Allan Poe stories while developing this game. We tried our best to create the same oppressive atmosphere of desperation and horrifying plot.

When we were creating the game, we wanted to fill it not just with graphic, but the plot as well. That's why the game has that much of the text. In this case the game may be considered as visual novella, rather than adventure. But we have some gameplay here.
To make the player easier to understand how to play this game, we put that disclaimer here. At the end of every note there's a short hint of where you should go to find the next note. It might be any item in any place. Discriminating reader will be rewarded by complete and chronological story. But the game does not force you to play linear. You are free to explore the map and to find the notes circumstantially. Enjoy.

This game has a great idea behind it.. why oh why couldn't it have been developed by a proper competent developer?

The game claims that almost all things can be interacted with, this is far from true.
And the actual interaction system is horrible, you don't pick stuff up and look at it and move it around in your hand like you'd expect, you drag it across the floor, you drag a magazine or a cup across the floor.

The movement in the game is bad, and the lighter to give you some light is so weak that I had to look at my keyboard to make sure I pressed the correct button then I looked down at my feet in-game and saw a spec of light.

No subtitles, no key-rebinding. And why is the flashlight(lighter) bound to the button L? Why not T or Q or something closer to the rest of the buttons.
Horrible, absolutelly horrible performance. I have a pretty damn strong PC and I was lagging all over and my FPS was in the ground, I had to turn everything to the worst setting to be able to play without ripping my hair out.

The game tries to be scary, it tries to be some sort of horror but fails.
The only scary thing if you really want it to be scary is the vocie of a woman talking, and her voice is extremely low, if you want to be able to make out any words then you'll have to turn your windows volume WAY up which will make you deaf as there is no in-game volume sliders, so all other sounds will probably blast your eardrums out.

This game is simply unfinished. I don't.. I can't phatom why this was released as a finished product when it's clearly not. Why not just wait until it's finished or at least put it in early access.
I'm really sad that this game got released so early, I bet if this game was released when it was actually finished, you know, when the game is playable performance-wise, when you've finished the options menu, it would've been so much better but now you've tainted everyone with a bad experience to this game.

I can only assume that most of the positive reviews where for a CD-Key to the game or something. No one in their right mind would rate this game good.

And by the way I'm pretty sure that the developers or something are going around disliking all negative reviews because as far as I can see most negative reviews instantly get like 2 or 3 dislikes.

Edit: And yea, I almost instantly got 2 downvotes, cool.

This is pretty attractive little game if you look the graphics, but needs to be polished in some details. Before you start playing I recommend to disable SSR setting, otherwise you may experience some troubles with light and textures. Also, when the game starts you get a black screen which is actually night, but you might think this some freeze or bug, just need to turn around and see the light

Edit: Looks like they are slowly updating things, so this review may or may not be relevant. They seem to care about making the game polished.

This would be ok if it was free , and was optimized. I assume it is either some kind of effect, or badly optimized physics asset (in Unity), but the game stutters a lot, and makes it nearly unplayable (On a decent system). (Game runs OK now. Not great... but it's playable). There are still a lot of issues, and honestly, and I only realize that now that I can play it with better performance.

The game itself starts off like a horror, but itsn't at all. It has a scary voice, and background noises, so you think something will jump out.

It should also warn you that there is no save.

Honestly, this feels like someone took a few Unity assets and mashed them together in a way that looks beautiful, but doesn't at all mesh well but meshes together only ok. Absolutely NOT ready for free or pay. I'll recommend this once the performance is better.. ****At least put this game in early access / alpha. This is ridiculous***

Some more issues:
-Turning on the lights is a bit of a chore. When you point at a light, the dialog should come up... but sometimes you have to fish for it.
-Turning items around in 3D when picking them up is not clear... should be instructions.
-I got stuck in the bedroom, inside the walking closet. The chair fell back and trapped me in, and there's no jump option. So I closed out immediately.
-Would be nice if there was a symbol that popped up over an item so you know you're centered on it... like Dreamfall Chapters, or Life is Strange.
- At the beginning it says press "E" to look, but that doesn't do anything, and seems like the character looks before you do that

It just isn't polished yet.

I'm not really sure why this game has so many positive reviews...
If you want to make a short artsy game with some sort of story, fine.

-The game no longer starts correctly, and I can no longer play it. It boots, asks "Rus or Eng?" when I click Eng the screen goes black. I can hear music, but the screen remains black. I have tried revalidating the files and uninstalling it multiple times, but the problem persists.
-The one time I was able to play, it stuttered like mad, even with no antialiasing, lowest graphics settings, etc, even though I have a GTX 960, a newer Intel Core I-5 and 8 GB of ram
-The game claims that you can "Interact" with everything in the house. While "Interacting" in this case just means picking things up(And not being able to move while doing so) and then putting them back down in the same place. This doesn't really accomplish anything.
-The lighter that you use illumnates almost nothing, making it difficult to navigate dark places, which is a lot of the map.
-The grammar is awful. I know this is not a gameplay critique, but the only elements of story are found on notes throughout the house. It makes it difficult to understand the story when it seems like somebody just copied a note in Russian, pasted it into google translate, and used whatever came out without checking if it even made sense.
-Taking a look at the achievements and seeing that 0.9% of people have any of them, basically means that none of them work. (The only people who have them are people that hack steam achievements)

(My Opinion)
-Overall, Not very motivated to continue playing the game/not sure what to do/not sure if there is even an ending

This game is not finished.
There is nothing wrong with that, that's what early access is for, but this game is sold as a finished product, and it is not.

Collisions are bad, graphic optimization is bad, text scroller do not reset, no text to tell you to press E to read things, doors will sometime close right after you open them and get too close, lighter is so weak that i thought it didn't work until i looked at my feet, english translation is not so good, no subtitles, etc.

This game looks promising, but it is not finished and came out as a release too soon. I hope devs will fix all the problems but until then, i can't rate it positively.

Product received for free
Magdalena was published and developed by Yellow Bun, the game is described as a horror & walking simulator game. This game has many faults that really make the it feel unfinished overall and really isn't worth your money. TL:DR at the bottom of the review

The game itself has a interesting idea behind it, but I feel like it just didn't implement it well enough for myself to enjoy the game overall. There are many flaws in this game that really bring it down and overall make the game itself feel unfinished even though the game is fully released. Let's start off by talking about some of the important parts of the game that were left out (or possibly forgotten about).

First of all, the game claims for almost everything to be interacted with. When I first read this I was expecting that you could pick up a single item and rotate it around in the air to inspect it more than other games would let you. Unfortunately, this statement of the game was not true, the interaction system of the game doesn't feel good at all. You can only drag items across the floor which really is a big disappointment to the game itself.

Now that we have talked about the main aspect of the game and how the game ceases to have this great interaction with objects, let's go over some of the more basic things that the game leaves out. First of all, the options in this game are extremely limited by this I mean that there is no being able to rebind your keys, no subtitles or no in-game volume sliders. These are the bare minimum that a game should have for the player to be able to get the best experience out of the game but it just hasn't got these specific options to do so.

Now that we have established that the game is missing out on essential options for the most basic of games, we shall now talk a little about the performance of the game. This game seems to have a really bad performance rate for whatever reason. With the FPS being so bad that you will be forced to lower your quality and make the experience of the game worse. The movement of your character is jerky and doesn't feel right, the lighter that you are given is so weak that you can barely see anything in front of you and since you can't rebind keys you will constantly be pushing L which is a weird key to use for something like this

With the game (trying to) a horror game it doesn't do very well to scare you or have any intense moments to make you feel on-edge. But the worst thing about it, is that you can really see where the game tries to be scary at times but just fails to do so, the game has no sense of creating the correct sort of atmosphere for a scary moment to happen.

As for the graphics of the game, they seem to be okay (when put in a high quality of course) the game itself seems a little bit detailed and you can kinda point out what has and what hasn't been worked on properly throughout the game. But obviously you won't be playing in this high quality because the performance of the game itself is so bad.

+ Graphics are okay
+ Steam trading cards
+ Partial Controller Support

- Interaction system isn't very good
- Unable to rebind keys
- No subtitles
- No In-game volume control
- Bad performance
- Tries to be scary, but really isn't

Result / Final Thoughts
Overall, I really can't recommend this game to anyone because the game has so many flaws and outways the positives a lot. The game has a bad interaction system despite what the game says, you can't rebind your keys, have no control over subtitles or in-game volume, the game itself runs at such a bad FPS and the game tries to be scary but really isn't. Don't buy this game.

Could be interesting, if it wasn't so horribly laggy (in a Windows 8 laptop that can run much bigger games without any problems). Also, the lagging causes a lot of jerks, which in turn are causing motion sickness, so at least for me, this game is unplayable. Played about 30 minutes before giving up and leaving it running for long enough to get the cards. At least I got this in a bundle, so I didn't pay full price.

My god what a game. At first I was annoyed by the poor illumination that the lighter gave but... it's a lighter it's obvious it's not the best font of light right. The ambience is good. The pitch black outsides is kind of frightening even on the house while I was opened doors or switching lights I felt like something was going to jump on me any moment. The game is short, but the story is good enough and the ending gave me the chills. Oh and it has trading cards that are worth the games price on sale or even more. I recommend it.

Wouldn't run on my Win 10 Alienware Alpha. It was even hard to idle it for cards because it runs, hangs (alt tab works sort of, but will not actually switch), and had to reboot to get control back (start > power > restart). But it does technically idle while hung, so I could get my trading cards. On my 2nd attempt, I got it at least to accept the "Rus Eng" choice, then loaded indefinitely, and Alt + Tab shows a crash report. In the end I could alt+tab to the crash window (although nothing pictured), hit enter, and it accepted the hidden dialog and I was back on my desktop. What an adventure :) .

I honestly only got it for trading cards, which it did deliver. But it was the hardest way to get trading cards of any of the junk games I've bought for trading cards :) .

My English is poor and this game have too much text, really boring. The gameplay is a shame. Total lack of action, nothing happens.

If you like read English novel maybe this game is for you, otherwise run.

One last thing to know the achievements are brokens.

Absolute ♥♥♥♥. I tried loading this game 8 times in both languages and had it freeze on a black loading screen every time. Wasn't even able to start a new game once. Devolopers should be ashamed. This is not a finished product, but more a completely untested, bugged, rough draft.

OK, I'm done. I have no experience of a plot, graphic or anything else that game provided. Why? I can't play. When I'm trying the following issues may appear:

- black screen of death
- unable to click anything
- unable to close the game (only thing I can do is hard reset)
- experience crashing of resolution and then I'm unable to even shut down the laptop

Oh, before someone starts to be curious - my laptop is new and shiny with Windows 10 operating system. Sadly I can't make a complaint because I waited too long in hope that something will change. Such a pity.

If something will change (hopefully for better), maybe before another patch, I will edit this.
