About This Game

In Supreme Commander 2, players will experience brutal battles on a massive scale! Players will wage war by creating enormous customizable armies and experimental war machines that can change the balance of power at any given moment. Take the role of one of the three enigmatic commanders, each representing a unique faction with a rich story that brings a new level of emotional connection to the RTS genre, or fight the battle online. Where do your loyalties lie?

  • A deep and powerful story - element adds a personal, human aspect to a storyline previously focused on warring factions and the politics that fuel them. The single player campaign features three character-driven storylines set 25 years after the events of Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance
  • Command enormous armies made up of customizable land, air and naval units. Each of the three diverse factions – The United Earth Federation (UEF), the Cybran Nation and the Illuminate – have been completely redesigned from the original game, with many units.
  • Experimental units - returning with new designs and greatly enhanced looks….and some new tricks that can be unlocked through research
  • New Supreme Commander Gameplay Experience - players now have the ability to research new technologies and units and deploy them instantly on the battlefield, allowing them to upgrade a base-level tank to a high-powered, multi-barreled, AA-sporting monster by the end of a given game.
  • Strategic Mode UI - the redesigned UI that is faster, takes up less screen real-estate and gives better player feedback
  • New rendering technology that allows us to create visually spectacular environments

I'm really not sure whether I can recommend this game or not. I first got this when it first came out and frankly, I was severly disappointed. It is a complete downgrade from supcom/FA. While I feel it is a good RTS on it's own, knowing what it came from is almost disgustng. If you want a basic RTS that won't require much planning then SupCom2 is your game. If you want an RTS that is massive in scale and requires actual strategy then I highly recommend you get SupCom/FA.

SC2 is a superb RTS which unlike other AAA games in this genre gives you da ability ta STACK build waypoints and strategic command waypoints for each unit on da battlefield for ultimate ease of tactical use.... this is a great feature! The scale of battles is impressive, amount of units and structures ta build is great also. The graphics and sound are very good altho not up there with C&C... but considering da scope of battles they are nice!

With epic battles and lots of options from menu's to in-game mechanics, this is well worth a tryfor any RTS fan.

8/10

Cheesy campaign storyline but the Skirmish mode can provide countless hours of amusement. Great variation of thoughtfully designed maps and well balanced factions. The large number of technology tree options provide countless possibilities for battlefield tactics and strategy.

In Skirmish mode, turn off research and nukes for a rewarding battle.

This is a step back in almost every way imaginable from Sup com 1 and FA. If you like the original or FA then stick with them, if you never played them than this game may not dissapoint you.

They take everything that is great from Supreme Commander and Supreme Commander:Forged Alliance then beat it until it's the same muddy brown color that resembles what the rest of this game is. Like what Spielberg did to Indiana or Shyamalan did to Avatar, Chris Taylor did this to Supreme Commander.

Although I haven't played the "even better" original (yet), I will say this is a great RTS. I would easily recommend it to any RTS player, new or veteran.

By itself, it's not such a terrible game. It's kind of like starcraft with a strategic view, which is actually pretty cool. But it is not what I would expect to follow a game like Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance. Many of the models and names of the units in the game are similar to the previous game, but the scale of SupCom 1 is completely lost and having an upgrade system is against the heart of how Supreme Commander 1 was interesting. It makes me thing that they were trying to compete with the player base of starcraft instead of creating an actual second game in the line of Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander (Supreme Commander was touted by the devs as the 'spiritual successor' of Total Annihilation, and I consider the first one successful in that regard, but the second, not so much).

Many types of units. Many possible strategies. Top down view. Oh, that's an ordinary RTS.

Supreme Commander 2 is warfare on a massive scale. You can command armies of 200 or even more. This game is amazing, especially with friends.

Great game to introduce new comers to the RTS genre. After understanding this game, I feel the gateway is open to Supreme Commander FA which is a more complex version of this game. All in all, great game 9/10

It's a decent RTS. But I wouldn't call it Supreme Commander.

Gameplay mechanics have been drastically changed. Most importantly, there's no "teching up" like in SupCom where you start producing different tier factories and units.

Instead there are research points, which, when applied can even affect units you have in play already.

On release, this game was even lacking the liquid economy system used in SupCom games, and it would just use up all the materials upon the start of construction, like in StarCraft. This was eventually changed back.

And finally the battles aren't as massive as in SupCom.

In short: Do not buy blindly if you enjoyed Supreme Commander and want more. Just pretend this game has a different name and is another Sci-Fi RTS, and you'll not be dissapointed.

This is one of those old games you'll return back to again & again. A great combination between graphics & gameplay, makes this all the more enjoyable. It's on a grand scale, and who doesn't love swarming the enemy with loads of your troops?

Total recommend.

Recommended Stretegy game as training for Starcraft

Pros:
Timming for building is much lesser compared to SC1
Each Faction has its own strength
Factions are more balanced as compared to SC1
Added single player mode

Cons:
Much lesser units compared to SC1
