Why Early Access?

“The game is in state that need feedback of the community. We think that in the current state of the game, it can bring hours of fun to the players so we think that now is the moment to release it. Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“It is hard to know the exact how long, but we estimate would be one and half or two years to complete our goals and release the complete game. We don't want to promise any time earlier.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The final game will contain first a full story, after the story the player could continue playing, more minerals, more machines, new planets and localizations to explore, more building pieces in order to build a great spaceship and space stations.

We have more features in mind (you can imagine a few ones that are very common in this kind of game) but we prefer not to promise anything that maybe we need more time than expected to implement.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version of the game contains all the features that you can see in the description section of the game, plus three planets, three basic minerals, several machines, several spaceship parts, all the machines that the player needs for surviving (food, water, oxygen) and of course you can save your progress.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price of the game will be increased when we will add more new features, the goal is to reach a fair price to everyone, because our priority is that players who support the game in the initial state pay less than in a near final state, as we said, we think that is important to find a fair price for the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Watching how the players are building their bases, we can see if we need to balance something or add more threats or resources. of course we will hear all the suggestion, feedback and bug report from our gamers community. Updates and Fixes #35: Satellite Camera

Satellite Camera:



In this new update, I added to the game, something that was in my mind time ago. A Satellite view. The player can have a sky view of the base and also can build and modify things. You can move the camera and zoom in/out.



During the development, I was trying this new view and playing the game, and it is like a different game, the player can handle very fast extractors that are very far each other, can see if a line has a bottleneck or something is destroyed by an asteroid.



If the community like the new Satellite view, I will work more on this. For example, add the possibility of a more isometric view, add a mouse for a more friendly building gameplay, rotate the camera, follow the player character, etc..



I would like to see your bases from the sky, if you have one, upload an image to Steam. I think others players can learn how to improve their bases or colonies or spaceships. Thank you.



I also fixed a lot of things related to the UI, for example when the player uses the Esc key in the inventory menu and the main menu appears, and other minor bugs.

IMPORTANT:
if you can't activate the Satellite camera is because you have custom keybindings and you have to reset it. To do it you have two options, if you reassigned only a few keys you can introduce the keys like it was at the beginning of the game in the control menu inside the options menu, play a while and then reassign again. ( I have to add a reset button)

or

you can delete the Input.ini file that is inside the User Name / AppData / Local / FarlightExplorers / Saved / Config / WindowsNoEditor and restart the game.

  • Fixed bug that crashed the game when a colonist lost the building where was working.
  • Updated info in the popup tutorial, added info about the Satellite view.
  • Fixed button in the tutorial where the label was repeated.
  • Updated info in the Tutorial Menu related to the Satellite view.

What Next:

I would like to continue working in the satellite view, if the community love the idea. I will continue fixing bugs that the community report, some bugs require more time to find and fix and others are easier to fix, I hope to fix as many as possible.

Updates and Fixes #34: Galaxy Status Menu

Galaxy Status Menu:

In this new update I added a new menu with different options that will appear when the player selects a new game.



In this new menu, the player will choose in what moment of the story of the galaxy will play and who will be. There are three possible choices. To be the first explorer of the galaxy. To be the first colonist of the galaxy or to be a person who was born in the galaxy.

The choice is important because the player will access to different buildings or options in the game. I mean, if the player chooses to be the first colonist, all the trade and colony buildings will be available at the beginning. if the player selects born in the galaxy, all the trade and colony buildings will be available plus the battle button in the inventory menu.

I think with this new layer of options, the player can configure how to play the game, I mean, being the explorer, the player has to focus on extract resources directly from the ground in different planets and try to survive with that. However, being the colonist, the player can extract the resources in one planet, trade with them, and get new resources with the credits earned.

  • Galaxy Status Menu.

What Next:

Finding and fixing bugs, polish and maybe add little things like the previous updates.

About This Game

Farlight Explores is a 3D space-sandbox game, made for space exploration, science fiction, resource management and action fans. In this game you can build your base or spaceship, explore the galaxy, extract unique ores in each planet or asteroids, craft new products, transport goods from one planet to another and more...

Farlight Explorers is focused and supported on three pillars:



Auxiliary systems: Design and maintenance of all the elements that your base or spaceship need to be operative (water, food, oxygen, energy).

Automatization: Manage and automate the extraction of ores and production of elements that are essential to grow your base.

Transport of goods: Build spaceships in order to transport the goods is vital in order to produce all the possible elements of the game because each planet will have unique characteristics.

When you start the game you choose a planet to start from the hundreds out there in the galaxy map. Once on the planet you have to extract resources to begin building a base that provides you with the items to survive like food and oxygen. If the base is secure, you can start building your spaceship to go to other planets to extract unique resources that you need to develop new technologies, or you can also use your spaceship to explore.
