Short, easy and boring. That's a perfect description for Venusian Vengeance. This game reminds me of some really old games but to be honest, even tho I'm not really fan of those, I had better time playing them than this wannabe retro game. I don't mind graphics, even tho those pixels doesn't looks impressive, I don't mind music, even tho I'm not sure if there was anything that played in background. It wasn't just enough interesting, at least for me. Maybe it's not expensive, but for this price you can find something better.

Nice little retro action game with top-down view.

I really liked the title soundtrack, but level music is nice too.

Not too difficult to beat at easy, but if you're badass you could try Hard Mode :). I would say it takes about 2-3 hours to beat the game. There is some difficulty curve, in later levels you get mini bosses that you have beaten before as a regular boss, so at some point it will take several tries to beat certain parts of the game. The most difficult would be the bossfights. You will need the mouse for aiming where you shooting at.

There is possible to upgrade your weapon from the question mark crates: you can get rocket, mini machine gun and kinda boomerang upgrades for your weapon which makes easier to progress and kill enemies. Checkpoints are available at regular distances, so you're not penalized in any way for dying. Indeed you will lose your current weapon upgrade if you die.

I would definitely recommend at least trying this game, since I got it from a greenlight bundle there's nothing I can complain of :). I really enjoyed it.

You are Jon Dagger. An American soldier sent to Venus to destroy the Russian ninjas. Pretty rad.

Not a bad, but short, retro shooter with a few powerups and varying levels.

Recommend buying on sale.

While not entirely my type of game, it's certainly fun, and I can see it being very appealing to people who are more into this style of game.

Fun, short game with an interesting retro pixel-art style. Difficulty is spot on: challenging in the later levels, but not too much so. I like this game because it's simple, fast, and doesn't wear out its welcome or take itself too seriously. My daughter also played and enjoyed it.

Originally a 5 chapter browser game available on newgrounds, now made its way on steam in a standalone version with some extra features.

Out of all the ‘retro’ styled games that try to mimic the feel of previous eras in gaming this title is one of the few successful games to actually pull it off, from the graphics, to the music and the simplicity on it’s gameplay, it’s well executed all around but doesn’t pretend to be anything beyond a top down shooter.

It takes some ideas from old Sci-Fi stereotypes and it’s amusing on its execution. Vaporizing weapons, Russians on Venus, Ninjas, a protagonist rockin’ a hair style, you name it. It provides some good chuckles and the game doesn’t take itself seriously, is all for fun and the game is a good time, albeit a bit repetitive after a while.

It offers a good challenge, especially on the Hard Mode which is available for this version of the game after beating it for the first time, the difficulty can be a bit frustrating, especially on the latter levels on Hard Mode, but the game has a checkpoint system and infinite life’s, so it doesn’t become infuriating.

It’s not a long game, and I managed to get all achievements in less than 5 hours, but the price tag is fair for what it offers, I think the creator deserves some credit, and if you’re unsure about it, you can try the original browser version of the game (Which goes under the same name) and make your opinion out of it, that’s how I made my choice to purchase it and I don’t regret it.

This is great game. Takes me back to the early 90s

If you love nostalgia and retro games, then this is for you.

It is a continous moving game, where you can continue after each death without being punished for doing so, making replayability a joy and it ensures that you will go and finish the game IMHO.

I don't actually have anything bad to say about it.

It's well priced, its retro, AND it has both cards and achievements.

A winner - get it.

PS the DEV is active.

When I used to rent games for my NES or SNES from Blockbuster on the weekends,
it was a hit or miss where my allowance was going.
Too many times it was spent on a ♥♥♥♥ game.
Wasting my precious, precious gaming time for days...

If I would of came across this game,
It would have been like heavan had parted her sweet cloud cheeks and
shined down on me in the most precious way,
giving me the best weekend away from whatever BS I was going through trying to grow up.

10/10

Would kill more Russian Venusians
and bask in heaven's patriotic glory.

This game is really awesome, I love the graphical style and the story is crazy. All of the bosses are pretty cool, and each level offers new enemies and terrain, the soundtack has a really good retro feel when you play and makes the whole experience very kickass.

I'd give it a: communists on Venus/10

This does retro right, reminding me of games like Ikari Warriors and Commando from back in the arcade days. I played through several areas, and each adds new enemies keeping the game from getting boring. This will be one I'll likely come back to.

This game is straightforward, a little quirky, and a straight good time. Fun with a decent difficulty curve that can change with Hard Mode. The 8-bit art design and music is reminscent of an early age of games, and the soundtrack is pretty good. A solid, entertaining, bizarre adventure through Soviet-occupied Venus.

Venusian Vengeance is a throw back to the classic two stick shooters like Smash TV, Robotron and the top down levels from Contra.

It's short but action packed- the difficulty is is more about how fast you can react and dodge than how well you can land shots.

Music is good, but only just barely- there's some short tracks and odd repeats that don't really mesh well, though overall the soundtrack selection is very good for this game's style.

Minimal story but enough to know your own name and the sass from the boss at the end of each level.

A good first choice for anyone working on 100%ing games on Steam.

It's a really weird, 8-bit styled scrolling shooter. Think Ikari Warriors. I'm frankly not sure if I like it. It's not bad, but it could be so much better... There seems to be no randomness at all. Always the same enemies, the same weapon crates, the same attack patterns. I feel like it's more about perseverance than skill, and that kind of ruins it for me.

Neither for nor against. Try it if you're bored.
