About This Game

Bob Was Hungry is a challenging precision platformer with many levels designed to truly test your platforming skills.

Bobs have been scouring the universe for food for millions of years. For the most part, food had been plentiful and easy to acquire...planets made entirely of cheese were abundant, and finding one could leave a bob full for a lifetime. However, time has passed, and food has become scarce. Greedy bobs so carelessly ate two or three cheese planets at a time, and now cheese planets are as rare to find as a bob with a full stomach.

Bobs unable to stumble upon one of the last extremely rare cheese-havens were forced out into the unknown. Now they traverse as many planets as they can in hopes of finding a scrap of food to survive. Unfortunately, their trips are dangerous, and the planets are treacherous. Finding food is not like it used to be.

You play as one of these bobs, and it is up to you to find the meal that will finally satisfy your bob's insatiable appetite.

Play alone, or play online with up to 8-player co-op in four frantic multiplayer modes:
  • Co-op: Play with your friends and help one another make it to the end! Recommended for beginners.
  • “Shared Death” Co-op: Everyone has to make it to the end of each stage. If one person dies, everyone dies and has to start the stage over.

  • Competitive Survival Race: Race against your friends, but you only get one life per stage!

In this incredible game you play as Bob. Bob is hungry. Sadly enough he crashed with his rocket. Which made him even more hungry. I would recommend this game if you like games with great storyline and great mechanics. 10/10 would flashbang.

After playing it longer I have noticed that I always get pepper on my ♥♥♥♥ing Icecream while my friend gets a nice Icecream. This game seems to racist towards people that have Bratwurst in their name. So I would still recommend this game but only if your name doesn't contain Bratwurst.

Having played and enjoyed multiple "hardcore" platformers like Mr Bree, giana sisters, etc, I had high hopes for this game. Unfortunately it didn't deliver. This game has basically no story, and has you play ~ 20 levels on 5 worlds. Its a platformer where you navigate around traps and die with one touch. This would be fine, but then the problems set it. Each level has you begin from start if you get touched, with no checkpoints. Games like this should utilize checkpoints, and ones that don't only do it to force increased playtime and cause frustration thats supposed to be fun but its really just lazy game design. If you navigate a really hard precise section or 2, then die at a part you haven't seen yet, you shouldn't have to play those first 2 sections, thats just dumb bc you've beaten them. The problems escalate when the devs choose to instead of making different, varied traps with different difficulty, they constantly force more precise and perfect jumps, forcing you to do ~4 different sections all with tiny gaps and spikes and traps on all squares except 1, which is just a sign of laziness. Some levels where its 14 seconds it ok to have no checkppoints, but others that are 45 seconds its stupid. The other problem is they start forcing you to do levels where everything is single crumbling blocks, not letting you plan moves or have down time between things, so that 1 mistimed jump the whole level is over. Then later on in a really dumb decision they make you start collecting things all over the level to beat the level, some of which are up in weird corners surrounded by traps you would normally not have to go to. Collecting should only be optional, but once again its designed to force you to fail. In other levels the lack of clarity on where you should go screws you. On 1 level I hit a switch and could go backwards or continue along and up, with no idea, and since this was late in the level, it kept screwing me bc I didn't know the right way to go. This is bc some paths are to optional collectibles, which shouldn't be the case, as they should just be along the way or clearly visible. Other parts throw things together like crumbling blocks and shots coming at you from off the screen. These parts are super stupid because they are all about chance and timing. You have to jump to the next blocks hoping the shot isn't there and if so you're screwed. It just about what time you jumped on the first of all the crumbling blocks, and you can potentially be screwed from the start, which is just dumb because you can't do anything about it.

All this precision and forced repetition wouldn't be so bad if the controls weren't off. They aren't terrible but they need to be better for what the game asks. Your guy is a ball, and instead of moving along regularly, he rolls in short abrupt bursts, and not in a steady rhythm. When stuck between things and moving with them, this can screw you. When jumping, the platforming is floaty. The biggest problem is he accelerates to the side super quickly. you will pres over and jump a little without the sprint button, and he will go flying to the side, forcing you to hold back. This leads to multiple deaths and is imprecise. Other times you will land on a single block and bounce off, or slide off. This leads controls to feel slippery. This also occurs when trying to wall jump off blocks or walls. The hitboxes are off many times too, as you will be slightly below something and it still counts as you getting hit. The other problem is how imprecise the jumps can be. You will press jump the same way multiple times, and some times you'll go up a little bit, and other times you'll go to high and hit into something. Things only get worse in the later levels, and instead of changing things up it just requires more perfect jumping and tons of it in a row or start it all over again. with the finnicky imprecise controls it just becomes frustrating for the sake of it, and at least 50% of the time it doesn't feel like your fault you died.

Go get one of the games listed above or many other good ones on steam instead of this.

3.5/10.

This game is pretty damn good.

Reminds me a lot of Super Meat Boy, as it plays similarly to it.

The controls are tight, the music is catchy, the game's hard, has many levels. and every death feels like my fault.

An overall 8/10, well above average.

Bob was Hungry is a difficult precision platformer which emphasises on a somewhat of a trial-and-error playstyle. The game seems very similar (if not almost identical) to the hit game "Super Meat Boy!" - With the exception that it is a different art-style, and of course 3D.

The game is incredibly challenging - I have been a platformer for years and was surprised to see some of the early levels be so difficult. However, after one or two failed attempts you can easily do the level. Some of the obstacles placed are in ways that you may not notice until you either land right next to it, or right into it - Highlighting the trial-and-error playstyle I mentioned.

Despite it's difficulty, the game is incredibly forgiving. There is no life system, no punishment for dying and no setting you back - Instead you have a death counter in the top right, tracking how many times you died attempting that level. The death counter will stick on your personal best (If, of course, it was your personal best attempt) and will go down with further attempts.

Each level has a secret "sauce" that must be found to complement the main dish at the end of the level. It isn't needed to complete it, but it adds an extra reason to explore levels and take more risks if you're a completionist.

I would recommend this to seasoned platformers and to people who are looking for a humourous yet challenging game.

The game start off as easy jump platformer game and it's really a lot of fun to play with your friends.
The difficulty of the game keep increasing along the way to the end which frustated me and my friends while attempting to finish this game.

There is a lot of one chance level where from the start to finish you shall not make any mistake or you will have to start the level over. Because of that, you will die a lot in this game.
There's even an achievement for dying a lot.
All my struggle is worth it to finish this game.

Oh yeah, I suggest that you play this game with your friend.
I can't imagine someone finish this game in single player mode (that's badass).
