OldSchool Retro Fantasy Stuff
Some could say Golden Axe is a Dark Souls Game of the 80´s its rather hard at start and you end up dying a lot in the start, but once you figure out how to exploit the games mechanics it will be a easy ride. For its time it was considered among best games on its console, however it may not have lasted that well through the years, but it still was enjoyable nostalgia experience for me.

Make sure to play it on a controller i have feel that keyboard might be pretty bad choice. There is option to bind your keys which is really nice thing.

Good Stuff
  • Some pretty fantastic Retro Music
  • Not an easy game, offers challenges
  • Co-op Support
  • Quicksave support (Not available on original sega version)
Not So Good Stuff
  • The game is rather short especially if you are good at it, the different game modes however may increase the replay value
  • The characters aren´t the most balanced

Its been so long since I played Golden Axe, I bet I still have the genesis cartridge somewhere! If you looking for classic Sega games might I recommend, Golden Axe, Altered Beast, anything Sonic, Eternal Champions, Streets of Rage, Ecco, and Shinobi 3. While there are many more I have got to say I don't want this review to go on for days. Golden Axe has been out since 1989 so I don't actually know realistically what I should mention here that you probably don't already know besides the fact that I have not had any trouble with the emulator and that its almost exactly as I remember it was.

They don't make them like they used to! Before I had Coors Light I just had this game. It was great I probably played over 10,000 hours. If you're playing in 2016 be sure to play with retroachievements.

Full disclosure: I got a free copy of this game from my friend who works at SEGA

While the mega drive version may have worse gameplay than the arcade version, the music is so much better, and a extra mode and a extra level this is still a great version of the classic.

This is another classic side scrolling beat 'em up game but somehow I did not enjoy playing it again as much as streets of rage. To do well at this you need to master the running attack which did not feel like a natural button combination for me. It does have the cool variety of magic spells and the creatures you can ride but overall I would recommend streets of rage games over this.
