What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We've decided to put Bunny Bash on early access because we think there's a large scope for community involvement when it comes down to game-play. Since we're a small team, and this is a multi-player game, feedback on most specifically power-ups and game-mode types (capture the flag, king of the hill and equivalent) would be massively beneficial not only to us, as a guide of what you the community think "would add fun" but also to yourselves in having a direct hand in helping us select the best additions to the core of this game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We're aiming to work through Early Access in one year, however we feel that the community could, and should, drive this as well. If some great ideas come through the community that might take a little longer, then we'll push this date and update the expected date. If the community feels that this game is "full" and complete earlier than expected then the reverse is true.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of Bunny Bash will have many more levels to choose from, possibly even adding more worlds (these will continue to be added even after the full release). There will be multiple game modes as well, extending the standard death match to add a variety of different challenges based on community feedback and suggestions - with power-ups and pick-ups rounding off the full experience.

Initially the game modes will be limited to standard death-match style game-play and a limited amount of pickups. Through your involvement we'll expand and grow these two feature-sets during Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current state is fully playable, but with only one game mode of standard Death Match and the option of Simple, or Controlled jumping (Quick vs Strategic gameplay) there are several levels from a few worlds available to choose from as well as an offline practice area. There might be one or two bugs, and we ask for your active feedback in letting us know so that we can address these most urgently and quickly.

We've spent a large portion of time since being green-lit on ensuring we have the infrastructure and tools to be able to respond to issues, and deploy fixes, incredibly quickly after patching a problem or adding features.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Bunny Bash will be priced the same during early access and final release. There will be no change in the standard pricing.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We want to hear from you! As a small team it's not viable for us to be able to try every game mode we have in mind on our own in multiplayer and be able to get a real and accurate sense on the "fun meter". Through the forums we'll listen to your suggestions. We will undoubtedly take some of these ideas and incorporate them in a running "live beta" style development with roll-outs of new builds to everyone to "try this new thing" - We expect, sometimes, that a new game mode while great "as an idea" might not work well in practice and this is where your feedback is most valuable, try out new modes, tell us how much it rocks or sucks and we'll either improve and leave it in the game, or remove it and move on to the next great idea.”

  • Video options now available within the Options area
  • Game targetted FPS can now be set within options (if you want to reduce CPU usage, or if you'd prefer more stable FPS for stream recording)
  • New power-up "Magic Mushroom"

A Multiplayer Action Arcade Party Game
https://youtu.be/t9oh1yedyt4
+ Pretty comical gameplay where you splatter bunnies by stomping on them
+ Nice looking levels with a variety of unique environments
+ It's a good short-lived party game to play with friends online
+ Upbeat soundtrack that fits well
+ Extremely Responsive Developers, see below

This game is in Early Access so don't take these too seriously
- The gameplay itself is far too basic, you run left or right and jump while trying to land on other bunnies... that's it.
- I experienced some major memory leaks causing it to max out my CPU and take up a considerably large amount of RAM
- Not a whole lot of content making the game get pretty repetitive fast. I would like to see far more abilities in the future, perhaps weapons and a scoreboard or other things to do besides just jumping around.

Although I'm not recommending this game now at it's current state, this will easily change once more content is added.

Response from one of the developers / staff:
We're working towards a single player campaign with a lot more to be done, especially when nobody is online - and we're working on weaponizing the bunnies (grenades will be coming first).

Also, a new build went out to the whole team to test a few hours ago that should correct the majority of the FPS glitching while massively reducing the required RAM (especially Video Memory) footprint.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, with feedback like that it's a great indicator of what should be prioritised on our admittedly rather large roadmap towards a full release.

Alright I decided to rewrite my review, especially after it got 3 unhelpfuls in one day at complete random, not going to say anything conclusive but I had a tinfoil conspriacy theory devs were putting helpful on their own reviews based on the fact that three accounts have 1 review and 2 are blank other than a few games. Now im not saying that the devs gave themselves reviews, and liked their own, and then three of them decided to say my review was unhelpful im just giving a little probability.

Anyways it's mostly cause I said something that were immature and realised I could streamline this review a bit.

Positives
- Graphics are decent for indie (If not a bit low on resolution)
- Music isn't bad either

Negatives
- Lack of options (Starts with default unity launcher, that as far as I see the graphics options dont do anything, and in game is only sound and language, and in short this game basically has none)
- Bad controls. Now im not saying that they're overly complex or anything, it's the opposite. It's too SIMPLE. Movement left and right are fine (even if they aren't rebindable) but the jumping which is required to kill anything in the game is garbage. You can change movement direction mid air, but you have a LOT OF MOMENTUM in mid air, and you cannot just stop your movement you end up changing direction instead. Which is horrible as you cannot accuratley land/ attack your enemies
- Online multiplayer is seemingly dead, I literally show in my upcoming video all the worlds/levels at 0 player count.
- No local multiplayer / LAN

Reccomendations to the DarkArts Studios:
1. Focus on a story or a campaign or something other than multiplayer, with out it this game deserves to fail.
2. In the future develop a game further before release into early access, even with all these levels there's such a lack of good gameplay / deep gameplay, making it not worth while.
3. More community involvement; make a community group, run events, giveaways, reward active users. It doesn't have to be huge just promote it. Maybe start up a 4 pack at twice the price of regular for some good savings and to expand the community's size and get a bit of word of mouth.
4. Have a CLEAR GOAL; currently I see you have a few game modes and maybe powerups coming, what I want is a clear schedule for updates, what updates are being worked on. This is especially required in early access as it is in active development.
5. Try to get some more options for things like graphics; here's some basic reccomendations: Rebindable Keys, Anti Aliasing (Multiple options FXAA MSAA 2x, 4x, 6x, 8x,), Resolutions standard 16:9, 16:10, 4:3, Fullscreened Windowed/Borderless Windowed

A great game for a quick drop in, easy controls and a concept you can grasp almost instantly. I like it for when I have a bit of time and I need the quick stress relief of smoshing another player. It can get deliciously frantic with enough players in a session. Good fun and worth it.

No downside other than I let someone watch my session through steam and it pushed my ping so high I got kicked from the game. Not sure who's side of the fence that one lands on.

What an addictive game. Even when I was losing with a negative score, I just couldn't help myself trying to smash and stomp those other players. Love the 'smack talk' messages printed when picking up powerups or getting ganked. Never has being told that I "...ate another player's toenails" filled me with such rage and mirth at the same time. Definitely an easy to get into but difficult to master time killer, heavy emphasis on killer.
