What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We are launching through Early Access primarily so we can refine the game one final time through user feedback. This includes optimizing controller support, creating new game modes and most importantly gathering interest in expanding the game to a multiplayer experience. The game will also be outfitted with a full suite of mods tools including a model and level editor.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are anticipating to release the game early/mid 2017”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of the game will have all finally decided features brought up during early access along with a lot more polish in gameplay.

To list:

(undecided/based on user demand)

- Online multiplayer
- Additional Game Modes
- Additional (unplanned) content

(Decided additions)

- In-game character editor
- In-game level editor
- Full controller support”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is currently in a fully playable state. You can play the game from start to finish although there are still some remaining enemies to complete creating and animating. The user interface isn't finalized as it hasn't been tested enough yet, however it shouldn't impact the state of the games development. As the game is close to completion and needs less than a year of work to be feature complete and polished.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Depending on the amount of features and content added during early access, which is something the community will be asking for, the price might go up. If we end up adding a handful of extra features along with a handful of game modes than players should expect the price to change a bit, but not too much.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community will be able to help decide which added features to prioritize in the development of the game. Certain features, like online multiplayer or local multiplayer, would need a high enough demand to be a feature we'd add before any other. With that said, the community will have a big impact on the games growth and final outcome. Furthermore they will help design the in-game editors, since they'll be using them most often when playing.”

About This Game

Critical Annihilation is a Twin-Stick SHMUP (Shoot-em Up) made entirely out of tiny voxels. We take advantage of voxel technology to hype up the explosive gameplay. Everything is destructible to its core. As your home planet gets invaded by aliens you decide to take up arms with the rest of the planet and annihilate every single alien in site. As you progress in the game you'll bring yourself to whole new planets like the Moon and Mars until you've reached the aliens Mothership. Why exactly are these cliche aliens attacking your cliche planet in the good old fashion cliche way? It's for you to find out as you destroy every cube of their being. This is the same game played by popular youtubers Markiplier and JackSepticEye; Critical Mass. Now with updated art and updated code to bring you a more full, and action packed experience.
