Okay, aside from all the 11/10 ♥♥♥♥♥♥ maymay useless reviews:

This DLC is honestly underwhelming for the very high cost ($7.99 US.) It allows you to pursue various 'lifestyles,' but each lifestyle only seems to have 1 or 2 event trees. After you've seen them once, expect to see the identical outcome for every character.

Seduction, War, and Spying tend to be the most fleshed-out of the 'lifestyles,' but even these are lacklustre. Seduction is utterly stupid in its mechanics: it just lets you be a PUA idiot across medaeaeaeeval Europe. Every woman, regardless of her status. how ugly and old you are, and what she has to lose, will eventually sleep with you. On top of this, the AI, for whatever reason, has an extremely high chance of picking 'seduction' as its life goal.

The result of this is that after about 25 years of playing the game, I would say about 45% of the women in my realm had the moniker 'The Unfaithful' - the title given to women who are caught sleeping with a 'seducer' character.

War is also poorly done. The most noticeable effect is the +3 martial you get and the ability to duel. Don't get too excited, however - 'duels' feel like an afterthought: assuming you can meet the hilariously stupid list of requirements for a duel, you will be treated to one of two event pages: one where you win, one where you lose. There is no written description of the fight or any flavor text, simply a short blurb about the fact that a duel happened. I'll repeat myself and say that dueling quite difficult to actually be ALLOWED TO DO. The game lets you seduce your own sister and niece at a whim, but not challenge the enemy general to single combat or fight a duke that slept with your daughter and left her with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Oh, and if you actually KILL the guy in the duel? Enjoy a UNIVERSAL -10 opinion rating from every character in the entire game. COOL.

4/10 because it is way too expensive for this half-♥♥♥♥♥ expansion that gets tired and repetitive after less than an hour of play.

While I agree with everyone else that the first couple play throughs of sleeping with everyone in sight was fun, it did kinda ruin the game for me. You can sleep with EVERYONE. Kill an entire family except for one member? -100 opinion and a rival? Go ahead and seduce her because theres no way to fail other than just giving up. Plus good luck keeping your wife from being seduced by the 11 other rulers in your realm who all focus on seducing. Oh and are you having bad relations with another ruler? Seduce them until youre either lovers or "keep them yearning" until their opinion is back to where you like it.
While there are downsides to seducing everyone in sight (most people dont like you for some reason) the punishment is not nearly high enough, especially considering the ai is spamming it so hard. Overall I love the idea, the new events were fun to experience and my first couple games as a seducer were pretty fun. But playing as a character whose only "attractive trait" was gregarious, the ability to seduce anyone felt a little overpowered. So until someone makes a submod making seducing a tad more realistic I'll probably play without this dlc in the future.

Simply not worth the price tag. Pick it up when it's on sale, else don't bother. 7,99 is outrageous for the minute amount of additional content. The new mechanics are extremely limited, beyond giving you a +3 boost in a stat of your choice. Besides that, there is an extremely small amount of events tied in with the lifestyle you choose. Which is to say, every lifestyle has one or two events firing off, ever.

Do not buy this tripe. This is exactly what is wrong with DLCs.

At Current the DLC is broken, with Seduction being impossible to stop to the point ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s fill every realm and all people are unfaithful.

and that's if you ignore what came with the free patch that makes the AI unable to fight wars because it cannot dismiss it's armies, leaving them proine to constant rebellion.

The mechanics added in the WoL DLC do add a great deal of depth to the role playing aspect of the game and I certainly enjoyed experimenting with the various options.

However, despite the patch that supposedly fixed issues with the seduction focus, the DLC is massively unbalanced. Since getting the content I have seen a ridiculous number of adulterous characters and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s filling up the courts of Europe, not to mention the highly OP evil mastermind characters that can imprison, mutilate and kill across the game with impunity.

The lack of repercussions coupled with the seemly random nature of the AI makes it incredibly difficult to play a serious long term game.

While I enjoyed the content initially, I would not recommend buying it until the issues are fixed.

It's kinda hard to finish a game when Paradox keeps implementing so many new options one wants to try out.

1. Too expensive for it's content. Doesn't really add much, mostly it changes things.
2. The AI will oftenly choose "seduction" focus that allows seducing other characters.
3. Everyone gets herpes/syphilis!
4. Everyone hates eachother (duke A sleeps with the wives of duke B and C, which gives duke B and C a -100 modifier to their wives and duke A, duke A's wife gets a -200 modifier to duke A. Duke A is not satisfied though, so he sleeps with the wives of count A-Z and your queen. Duke D also has seduction focus and does pretty much the same thing. Everyone gets herpes. Including you.).

This DLC really brings a much needed depth element to the game. Instead of making the map bigger or the timeline longer, the "story" you are creating for your dynasty is getting some much needed TLC.

The main element of the DLC is adding a new focus to your character's ambition. You can focus on things such as family, stewardship or theology If you are more into the darker parts of the game, you can concentrate on seduction or intrigue for example. A great factor in this is that you are able to change the focus after a couple years as well so you are not limited to one for the duration of the characters life. What you choose will create new story opportunities that will affect your dynasty. Each choice brings new dialogues and options to the game that will have good or bad effects.

I really like the direction of Way of Life and hope Paradox continues with these kinds of additions to the game. I would even say that the game feels "complete" for the first time to me. I'm in the middle of a full run starting from the 8th century and Way of Life has injected a new life into the late game. Definitely pick it up if you are planning a new game and it is worth the $8.00

The Focus system is a huge improvement over the rather bland previous system of having ambitions to improve your low traits, with events firing at intervals. With this, I'm able to take much more of an interest in what my character is doing, and if I want to, plan his life out ahead of time, or shift focus to meet current challenges.

The only downside is the ridiculous Seduction focus, whic random counts banging out your wives, daughters, sisters, etc at all hours of the day and night. Fortunately there are mods to make it less absurd on the workshop, and with the latest patch you can now disable AI seduction without mods to make your Ironman playthrough less of a sea of herpes. With that caveat, this is highly recommended.

Unless they severely nerfed the Seduction focus, or I haven't bothered to exploit it to its full gamebreaking potential, I don't see how this in any way lives up to the massive alleged game-breaking hate in the (real) reviews. Seduction is sometimes too effective, but I've never been overwhelmed by flirtation attempts as a female ruler, nor have I seen dozens of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s spring up all the time. In my current playthrough starting from 800s and now in 1300, only one of my AI dynasty members chose Seduction and ended up with 4 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ children.

The additions made by this DLC are fun for what they are, but there could be so many more and so much more to do for the asking price. On sale it's definitely worth it, but there's just not much for the base price.

And the ability to duel is so heavily regulated that at one point I was unable to duel with any character in my entire realm as an emperor over 3 kingdoms and 100+ vassals.

The only major downside (other than the AI abuse of Seduction, if it does still exist) is that this whole system replaces the previous bettering-yourself ambition system in which you could one by one select ambitions to improve your stats up to 8. Now that is an incidental part of the Focuses. Although considering the random aspect of Ambition events occurring compared to amount of time it takes to select a new one, this is still not that much of a change.

This expansion gives the player way more control over the development of their attributes and additional interaction with vassal NPCs, areas of gameplay that needed fleshing out.

I like the things Way of Life added, but I don't like HOW they added them. I'm not a fan of how they took existing mechanics and put them behind a wall that you can only access one at a time through Focus. In my opinion they made the game less interesting. I think your characetr should be able to do all things at a basic level at least. Choosing a Focus should make your character better at certain things and unlock higher level options.

I can ♥♥♥♥ my sisters and (illegitimate and unrecognized) daughters with this DLC. 10/10
Playing one game as the king of England I managed to breed my own great granddaughter who was also my granddaughter and daughter.
That should be some kind of achievement.

Possibly the best DLC for this game. Adds features that once you get used to them you aren't sure how to play without them. The full price is slightly steep, but it's well worth snagging on sale. The ability to refine your character a little bit as the player is great and rewarding without being game-breaking.

Yes, seduction was, as I understand it, quite broken in the early days of this DLC's release but IT IS FIXED, so ignore all the reviews complaining about seduction; you can no longer sleep with everybody all the time always, it's actually pretty easy to get rejected, just like real life!

Started out as a tribal leader in Ireland
Got used to the new mechanics, seduced a few gals
Took control of my heir at 16, perfect!
Picked seduction focus
Shagged nearly every broad in the kingdom. It gets very easy once you level up seduction fully
Went full Lannister with every sister and half-sister, somehow the resulting ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s weren't inbred
Somehow didn't get every STD known to man
Had so many lovers that they each got one, maybe two pixels in the window
Had more ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s than Robert Baratheon
A lot of lords thought they had children of their own, and boy, were they wrong!
Acknowledged every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, but didn't legitimize
My wife's opinion of me went below -1500
Lived to 59 and was bedding every fresh courtier right up until then
Also claimed the whole of Ireland, but who cares about that?

A couple generations later, give it another whirl a bit wiser
Once again get a string of lovers a mile long
Wind up with herpes and syphilis
Still seduce more women
Everyone in the kingdom has herpes. My reign now has a legacy!
Get "the Unready" as my nickname. Must be due to the massive pile of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s I've created.
Women can be clergy now since I converted to Catharism a while back. The female priests are about as randy as the male priests. Bed them all, and they often instigate!
Seduce female vassals and potential co-conspirators on plots. It proves quite useful!
A male vassal being a pain? No problem. Shag his wife, his mother, his sisters, his daughters, and some of his wife's family, too. It's very satisfying even if they don't find out.
My wife hates me and tries to have me killed. Into the clink with her! Keep up the tomfoolery without worrying about her finding out. Nice!
Go crazy from syphilis and boink a rosebush. Have a kid with it. Huh?
Finally die of syphilis. Leave several Duggar's worth of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s behind and the knowledge that everyone in the kingdom has sores on their naughty parts thanks to me.
It's good to be the king!

Very good addition to the game, although arguably fairly overpriced.

Buy it during a sale.
