Pretty solid pacman variant, starts a bit slow each session. Can unlock other modes like quest and save buddies and some other stuff i didnt get to yet. Very simple, not a lot of basic enemy variance, except walk-pattern. Lots of interesting bosses first time through.

Has a save feature too!

Pretty cute over all.

No Exit menu button, though, have to press escape. bad design feature.

At first I thought it is a child's game but bought it with a credit card that only had $3 on it. As it turns out it is quite challenging and well worth the money I probably would have just wasted by eventually throwing out the card. The fact it is controller compatible is a complete bonus.

The main objective is to find the key to open the door to the next level. along the way you will collect coins and gems to boost your score. you will also collect one use items to kill enemies or as a defence against them also collecting coins and gems from some of the slain enemies.
As you progress through the levels you will find different items allowing different strategies for dealing with the enemy whether you run from them, kill them, or block their path. The maps become bigger and more complex along with the number and variety of enemies.

It is a fun, challenging game that is still for children and yet playable by the elderly as well.(and anyone in between)

Instant Dungeon! is a game you can boot up and start playing in an instant. (Surprised? Me too.)

It begins so simple in a small room with a simple objective; get the key to open the door to advance to the next level, collecting loot along the way for score.
The further you delve the bigger, darker, and fuller of both enemies and items the rooms get.

Once you've played the default mode you can unlock other modes by hitting criteria, like reaching floor 30 etc.

This game is great for when you don't want to spend a long time in menus/settings, or when you don't really have much time to play a game at all. (Although after some attempts runs can get long).

Obviously I haven't covered every aspect of the game as I like to keep my reviews fairly short, however I will add that at the time of writing the developer is active and very much in touch with the players.

= Fantastic little maze-dungeon highscore game.

Don't get me wrong, the game isn't bad, even more for the price. However i was expecting more and i got dissapointed a bit ...

The first few level are super easy the difficulty increase at a slow pace and drastically upgrade in one shot. Considering that one bad luck and you are up to pass again 20 really easy floor before getting back to some challenge.

-''Eleven lovable player characters to choose from!''

They have no ability, no superpower, no trait. It's just a different sprite. Really wish they'd implement something unique to every character other then skin.

The rest is ok but to me, this game is mostly ok. Didn't played hours on it but i don't see the point to do so.

Didn't regret buying it.

Cheers,

-Rick

There is a charm in the simplicity and its unique spin on what is essentially Pac-Man. There are tactical decisions to be made: maze layouts and enemy placements to consider, deciding when and where to use the one-shot items peppered around the labyrinth (of which you can only carry one at a time) There are several alternate game modes to unlock, and the difficulty will ramp up quicker than you will notice before it kills you, so there is no shortage of potential challenge here.

A little on the shallow side, but pretty clever all the same. $2 is 8 quarters, and it is worth at least that many plays on trip to the arcade.

This game is pretty fun! Pick it up on sale for a quick romp about. I like to play it in-between league matches while my friends rae getting water/food/ect. It plays nicely with a controller. This game doesn't have much depth, but its pretty fun! -PR0XIDIAN

Pacman combined with fantasy roguelikes, that's pretty much what Instant Dungeon is.

Your goal is to run around the maze and try to find the key so you can move on to the next level. All kinds of creatures (skeletons, zombies .. you name it..) try to block your path. Unless you wear armor you die instantly and have to start over. Luckily, the maps are randomised and there are throwable weapons and magic to kill your enemies. There are several different characters for you to pick from, but to my knowledge they do not have different abilities. Do not expect your characters will level up or anything like that. Obviously the game get's harder over time and you will also have to 'defeat' bosses.

The graphics look nice in my opinion. The only things that I would've liked to see is online leaderboards and maybe some achievements. Overall the game is great fun and addictive.

A neat little game, perfect for procrastinating before a test.

To the good points first: Considering 1 hit of an enemy kills you, its important to me, that there is little delay for the input and no getting stuck on corners. This is in my eyes the best part of the game. If you die, you only have yourself to blame and no one else. Also the weapons are quite easy to use. Especially awesome are the bosses. Every five levels you get one, and as far as i saw, i liked them. Ecept the Boss-dungeons, the other levels are to an (to me) unknown extent randomly generated.

The only negativ point i found so far, is only due to personal preference. Seeing you are getting coins (which i now know are for highscore) i thougt it had some RPG-component, buying weapons, armor or other equipment (maybe later, i do not have every mode enabled yet).

Considering the low price and the hours of fun you can get out of the game, i can only recommend it.

Also, from my own experience, if you have a problem running the game (actually was kind of my own fault) the guy who programmed the game will not rest, until it works.

A fun little game that's got a lot more depth than you'd expect and is a bargain at the price.

The core idea is simple - you navigate a maze, picking up items and tools that let you open doors or fight monsters - and in most cases you can carry only one. One hit means death and starting over. It's a basic maze puzzler with a fantasy setting of dungeons and monsters. It's not easy - large mazes, lighting, and challenging boss monsters will require you to think and strategize.

However the game has many different modes of challenge - from collecting treasures to completing quests, to rescues, and more. The better you do, the more modes you unlock - which does a nice job of challenging you to do better and master the game.

A great retro look, solid game play, a bargain price, and something you can play for a few minutes or a few hours, this is definitely a game to look into.

Disclaimer: I'm the guy who designed the Maxima Mash mode. So you know, take my opinion with a grain of salt (but you should always take opinions with grains of salt.)

Seriously though, if you need a small game you can play for five minutes on your lunch break, Instant Dungeon is pretty rad. Absolutely tiny, a fair few game modes to unlock and there's always a highscore to beat, with the high speed instant death maze spelunking always keeping you on your toes.

Instant Dungeon is an exploration maze game and for 2 bucks I had to try it out. I am glad I did because it is super fun. The game takes the new mechanics of procedural generation and mixes it with old 8 bit themes and gameplay. What results is a solid game with the right amount of addictiveness that will keep you entertained for hours.

You play as any number of the randomly generated heroes and your goal is to make it through the maze like levels and progress deeper and deeper into the dungeon. It is a roguelike with no carry over so after each death its a clean slate. As you delve deeper into the game it becomes much harder with larger levels and more and more baddies in each level. There are items, both offensive and defensive, that you can pick up to help you on your way. From axes, throwing knives and magic spells to shields helmets and torches to see better.

If this was all the game had it would be worth the money and then some but the creators decided to throw in even more awesomeness. There are several different game modes. There is a questing game mode where you have to kill x amount of a certain bad guy, there is a saviour mode where you have to save another hero from the boss and escape without dying plus quite a few more mode that I have not unlocked yet but fully intend on doing.

All in all this game is a $2 gem that everyone should play. Unfortunately I feel like it was overshadowed because it release the same time as this Thanksgiving steam sale.

A great game that requires more though after a few levels than you may think.
A slight flavour of Pacman mixed with dungeon crawler elements.

The price is amazing for this game which becomes quite addictive.

Just as the description reads, this game is great for jumping in when you only have a few minutes to play something or you just want something light. That being said, the game is not light on variety. Nice sound track. The graphics tug on the nostaligia strings. Good mix of monsters. I like the different weapons so far, ranging from the one kill dagger to the multi-kill fireball and axe. Looking forward to unlocking the different game types.

I read a few comments and wanted to add that the character selection is visual only. It does not impact gameplay. Items are usable by any character.

I definitely recommend this game.
