"Space RPG that's a Diablo-esq type game. Found this little gem a long time ago and was happy to see it available on Steam finally."

About This Game

The colony ship, Maximus XV was on course. This was supposed to be an uneventful trip. No one on board expected the gravitational entity. It quickly swallowed Maximus XV.

The colony ship and its passengers were trapped but not alone. Ships loaded with creatures of unknown species have been trapped for years. They have learned how to survive by feeding on newcomers.

They quickly attacked Maximus XV, taking over one colony biosphere after another. The passengers were caught unaware and barely put up any resistance against the merciless invaders.

The last biosphere was different. With impromptu weapons colonists managed to fight off the attack, but they were still under siege, surrounded by countless enemies. Now, the only way to get out of this alive is to get to the emergency capsule and use their powerful engines to break free from the Nebula. But the capsule is at the other end of the ship and the path leads through all the biospheres, now colonized by alien creatures.

This is a one person job. Only the best of the best will have any hope. Hope has a new name – Space Hack

A very cheap hack and slash Diablo clone with a space setting. Some of the controls are weird, but not too weird where it stops the game from being fun. The UI takes some getting used to, easily to get a handle of. The options menu is very simplistic. The Diablo in space setting is a nice change of pace.

After saw so many bad reviews on this game, plus this was lend free about 24h by his dev/editor, I thought this game will be a really pain in the.... but I'm really impressed because I'm playing it taking the idea that it is a game about a decade ago (so don't expect great gfx) but is funny and playable as RPG on space them like Diablo.

Yep, I recommend it if you want to play a RPG with a cost value of one buck and can afford this backward graphics.

Please Note the following: I don’t recommend or discourage playing this game, my opinion falls right in-between the lines on this game, ergo, I could thumbs it up, or thumbs it down. I am thumbing it down because the majority of my friends reading this review probably wouldn’t want to waste time with it.
-Quick Review-
Space Hack is a very old looking Diablo throw back, “Sci-fi, RPG/Action” game. This game simply has the feeling of an “old game”, mostly because of its inspiration from Diablo. This game was released in 2005, so do keep in mind that, that reflects on the controls and the graphics.
-Detailed breakdown review-
Story: Basically you are humanity’s old hope for survival, you start the game standing inside an enclave called a “biosphere”, it’s your job to help these other humans to be able to survive this strange new world. Naturally, in a sci-fi game the enemies you encounter are various form of Alien.

Game Play: You can equip different weapons, and armor, as well as use various other types of items that are pictured up as loot from aliens you kill (or objects you find). This game also utilizes a questing system to help give you tasks and keep you active.
Something should be mentioned about the controls of this game. I have never adjusted the camera angle in a 3D game with my scroll wheel before, additionally there are several other key bindings that confused me, if you intend to try this game out, I highly suggest checking out the bindings BEFORE you jump into the game; Or else you’ll find yourself out of laser charges and franticly trying to find your inventory to equip a baseball bat to murder with.

Achievements: There are no steam achievements for Space Hack.

Price: Space Hack is $0.99, what else is there to say? Usually I say wait for a sale, but this game is already purchasable by shaking down a little kid for his lunch money. No further comments.

Conclusion: This type of game will appeal to a very select “flavor” of gamer, again, the game was released in 2005, the graphics reflect that, I haven’t been able to figure out if the majority of the people who played the original Diablo like or dislike this game, it seems pretty much split even.
To be honest, most people on steam have tons of games in their steam library, most people will probably enjoy playing other games then this one, but if you’re feeling retro, and liked Diablo (or the dungeon crawler genre in general) this might be worth picking up.

For 2005 game, this is above great game. And also, for sales it's only 0.19€. Do not buy at regular price, cause this game is very often on sale. Thou, even the regular price is only 0.99€.

Really fun, really fast, great graphics for 2005, and hack&slash Sci-Fi MOBA RPG. You start on planet, and your name is Hack. You get quests, and kill monsters. They drop great gear, for example Plasma Rifle, armours, helmets... What I LOVE at game is that it's very hardcore. It autosaves, when you die, you load your autosave and spawn a bit back before you died. And also, game has no Tutorial, which I LOVE, so the game is more hardcore. It includes some Tool tips thou. But, the complainers about no tutorial, what would make game interesting if there WAS tutorial and path arrows? I mean, game is about being on Lost Planet, trying to survive. You get simple goals: Kill aliens&Survive. That's all you have to do. This game is way beyond my rating. It deserves a great rate.

This game was released back in late 2005 but it aged very well. You will enjoy hacking and slashing your way through hordes of bug-like aliens, finding new items to become a better slaying machine and ultimately saving the lives of the people who crash landed on this strange world for some obscure reasons. The story is simple but well tought off, the music is repetitive but catchy and add to the ambiance, the level design is childish looking but challenging from time to time, the graphics are polygonal but artsy-looking (Set the resolution to the highest windowed one if you can't see it).

Monsters never respawn and once you've cleared a path the instances available on the map are yours forever. The feeling of satisfaction when you rid an area of a huge group of aliens is real. There are also events that occurs from time to time where you have to accomplish a few tasks and quests given by your fellow crewmembers who are stuck with you on this planet.

The more you progress trough the game the fiercer, bigger and smarter the ennemies gets so be sure to check your equipments for repairs because you don't want to suffer a weapon break in the middle of a fight with one of the big guy.

I give Space Hack a 7/10

A slightly below average ARPG, akin to Diablo, Torchlight, Titan Quest and the like. The game suffers from being dull and really brings nothing new to the genre.

Bottom line is: if it's on sale, it may be worth a stab for diehard fans of the genre. Otherwise, there really is nothing here that is worth your time and money.

Jimbo Rating: 4/10

"What's Space Hack?"
"It's Diablo, but it feels far more repetitive and completely ♥♥♥♥s up the delicate usage of mechanics to create the addictive gameplay that action RPGs have been fostering, so it's really boring and completely flavorless. It's the video game equivalent of eating an entire box of Saltines on a hot day with no air conditioning."
"Oh." (goes back to Diablo)

Hey! Want to play a game that's as familiar like diablo, but looks blocky and annoying, has an interface that SCREAMS for you to ignore any information it gives you, and is wildly unintuitive despite being likely the 500th in 1000 games almost exactly like it? LOOK NO FURTHER. Your character may not start with any equipment, but HE DOES start with sideburns. The sum total of my experience with this game is as follows: I accidentally quit out of the intro cinematic when it paused for so long at some flavor text I assumed you had to click to advance it (nope -- it quits the cinematic!) then I contemplated why my head looked like a box until I figured out how to confirm that yep... despite having quests to go out into dangerous territory I had literally NO equipment. Guess they want me to earn some, or find some, or cut my teeth on weak enemies before they introduce me to the inventory aspects of the game. Wrong-O. Went outside, was beset by bug creatures and devoured. Then I deleted the game. If I was much younger and felt I had the time to waste I'd have given it what some might have considered a fairer shake. However, my time is honestly more valuable than anything I feel this game might have to offer me. Sad too, as I was in the mood for a futuristic diablo clone. If you want something like this that doesn't look like an angler-fish abortion, I suggest you take a look at "Space Siege."

Prepare to die ... a lot
One could describe this game as the Dark Souls of poorly done Diablo Clones.

The story is told through text windows but it all comes down to "you are the only hope to save humanity" so don't expect too much. The gameplay itself is something you need to get used to. Leftcklick to move & attack and Mousewheel to turn/ rotate the camera.
When you die you have to reload. You can and should activate "auto save" in the options menu.

Get it if you are a hardcore fan of Diablo Style games elsewise spent your dollar on something else.

Important Note: When you start a new game there's stuff on the ground you need to pick up

This one takes place in a Sci-Fi environment with nods of its proverbial hat to the space cult classics of yesteryear.

If you're looking for something that you can play for a half an hour here and there when you've got a bit of spare time that plays and feels like Diablo 2, then this is a good bet for you.

The gameplay is simple hack and slash much like D2 with similar loot drops and power ups. You have a simple variety of stats that you can upgrade when you level for better abilities. Health for your life force and Energy (which roughly equates to mana in D2) for your energy weapons.

Instead of gems, you have Biochips which upgrade your character`s skills directly. There`s a fair bit of variety and game play is good enough in short doses between your other daily tasks or for a quick break.

The graphics are a little dated but go well with its simple stylized visuals. It will likely run well on a modest to low powered computer.

My recommendation goes to those with slower computers that want something that plays like Diablo 2, or for those who want a good "break game" that's engaging in short play sessions.

Wow. Purchased this masterpiece when it was on sale and I have to say, it was well worth $0.19. I played this game for a full 11 minutes, the best 11 minutes of my life. Let me start of by saying the graphics are just wow. Very comparible to modern games as in CoD: Advanced Warfare, and Dragon Age: Inquisition as well. The story is just phenomenal, I absolutely love the part where space gets hacked (oops didn't mean to spoil that).

-Whopping 11 minutes of story time.
-Amazing graphics
-The best voice acting since 2004
-The music in this game will literally make you bust a nut.

-Once you play this game, any other game will look like complete sh*t

In conclusion, if you have $0.99 to buy this game, I suggest you do it, I can't get enough of it!

Don't let that blue thumb fool you, if there was a yellow one pointing sideways, then that's what i'd put.

I won't deny, this game isn't exactly jaw-dropping, or the kind that makes your knees shake from excitement, and although i strived to kill every single monster in every level at first, at the last few biospheres i just couldn't take it anymore and just ran past everything i could, screaming "MOTHER OF GOD! JUST ♥♥♥♥♥♥ END ALREADY, WOULD YOU!?!?" Why? because this game is incredibly reptitive and just plain waaaay too long...but that's about as far as the general bad aspects of this game go, if you ask me.

By now you've probably guessed that this game is a diablo rip off, that sounds bout right, just way longer, and actually a bit more challenging (by that i mean that with the right char, both diablo 1 and 2 just become a complete faceroll). Generally, this game is more of a patience test than an actual fun way to spend time, coz if you can actually beat every single level with a solid 0 on your mob count...then you've got one hell of a backbone, buddy. (up to about a dozen mobs left is also acceptable...lets be real, the maps are pretty large, and you won't gain much from rechecking every last corner for that last ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that just wouldn't come out when he was supposed to.)

If you're looking for a super thrilling and breathtaking experience that you'll just want to talk about for days to come, then just keep on walking and never look back, but if you've got a spare buck and just plain way too much time to kill...then this game has "magical mystery cure" written all over it for you.

This was the best game i have ever played. Cutting edge graphics. Probably the best story piece ever written. I will always remember the moment when i ran out of energy things that my gun fires and i had to switch to my slingshot but it wasn't enough the bug alien with a balista on its back killed me with a single well aimed shot. I have discovered one of the many wonderful things this game could offer me while i was trying to revive. (I couldn't find how to btw) This wonderful thing was breakdancing, I have found out that if you shift+m1, your corpse will break into dance. Groovy! This review was the entirety of my gameplay experience, as I still haven't discovered how to respawn or load a checkpoint after death.

Not sure how I lived the most of my life without even considering this game as the masterpiece it is. ♥♥♥♥... I may have like under 1 hour on this game, but that hour was the most glorious time of my life. I tipped my fedora and filled it with Gabes Gravy. Let's be honest, this game is like Assassins Creed but with better fps and textures. I didn't even buy this ♥♥♥♥, old mate Magii geezed me during Gabes Glorious Sales and threw it through my steam window and dinked me on the head and nearly 1 shot me the ♥♥♥♥♥. But ayy, I can't believe he gifted me the best game other than Nekopara lmao. kthxbai

I don't normaly like RPG games. But I like this one because it has some pretty cool stuff, like aliens some times epic loot and being an RPG you get to level up skills to make Hack the class you want, like a ranger or a warrior. haven't gotten far enough to see if there is some kind of high tech weapon that is knowledge based, now if you hate clones of other games then you may not like this because diablo.

I had this game in my library a long time ago (it was free), had never played, I decided to download it and then play around these are my views of this game:

- It was free.
- The soundtrack is not so bad.
- The intention of the developers was good, but apparently no effort almost nothing.

- The game looks like it was the epoch of 2000.
- The interface looks very bad.
- No clear instructions on what to do.
- The game is very poorly optimized.

If you want to spend a dollar, do not use it in this game.
