About This Game

Aritana is a platform game which the main aspect of its mechanics is the possibility of changing your stance. This stances define attributes such Speed, Jump Force, Attacks and Special Abilities. The player must choose between these stances to overcome obstacles and fight the Spirits of the Forest in a quick, intuitive and fun gameplay mechanic.

Aritana will learn new moves and abilities throughout the game and combo movements will help him fight the forest spirits. Meanwhile, Mapinguari will chase him constantly, forcing battles that require concentration and mastery of all skills learned.

With the help of the Shaman's Staff and the benefits of each stance, Aritana will be able to search for the Lost Artifacts and gain access to the Spirit World. This place is a labyrinth that holds pieces of medicinal leaves which, when collected in large quantity, can increase the player's maximum health.

The game follows the old platformer style and brings a high difficulty for those who are careless. Mastering different attacks and avoiding enviroment traps are key elements for the game.

A tribe of brave warriors lies deep inside the Forest. Tabata, the Chieftain, is terribly sick and Raoni, the Wiseman, is taking care of him. A powerful Forest Spirit took over Tabata’s body and only an ancient ritual can undo the spell. Unfortunately, the most important ingredient is missing: a feather of a rare harpy named Uiruuetê. Aritana, against Raoni's decision, embarks in this dangerous mission. The sacred feather can only be found at the top of the highest mountain, through the lands of the man-eater Mapinguari.

This review covers all parts of the game including the upcoming updates.

(edit) 29/aug , the game is still receiving updates and fixes, though there aren't serious issues with the game but the devs are still working to make this the full experience for the gamer.

They weren't kidding when they said " only 360 controllers supported " not even 360ace program worked so i just used my xbox controller.

Aritana And the Harpy's feather, is in a simple world ( Classic ).
I Felt like i am playing Tarazan and Crash bandicoot from Ps1, while playing this game.
It is a beautiful platformer, with great style and immense details and wonderful artwork.

Had a wonderful experience with this game, brought some memories of the classical platformer game.
With its beautiful Tropical-Music and Jungly Theme this game sure is fun.
its amazing how they were able to put so much details on the graphics and animations, this game basically got it all.

Combines both goodOL'FUN with challenge this game sure has some secret treasures all over it that are hard to find.
I like the game's story although Mega spoiler of ending beware ( Its called the harpy's feather but what you find at the end is an eagle or a hawk not a harpy but whatever : 3


What i loved about this game is the attention on each and every detail and animation in the game, and the backgrounds and the lightningEffects and the Graphics/artwork overall , it is very beautiful the Devs have outdone themselves with this game ( they are a very small team worked on it for 3 years ).

Controls are WASD for Movemens and Up down left right for attacking. and other buttons for jump and super jump, stance , charge ... etc
So i recommend a controller, i wouldnt at all like playing this game with a keyboard, its not that type.
the controls with a gamepad is very comforting and relaxing, so its perfect for the game.

The abilities the character's use to get to a certain point and use it to your advantage while going through levels, Finding secrets , killing insects and animals, is good, nice to find a game that took time to make secrets

With lovely Cut-scenes that puts-down the story beautifully, this game sure has some great content stored within it.

However as any other game it has its ups and downs.

as for the Pros.
1 - Beautiful Details, Animation, graphics , artwork, and style in this game that makes it all worthwhile.
2 - Classic type game, like ( Tarazan , Tomba , Crash bandicoot ) it reminds me of them somehow, might be only me.
3 - Lovely Forest type Effects and soundtracks wellput with the game to create that atmosphere.
4 - Nice level designs that keeps the game interesting , and abilities ( Skills ).
5 - good idea on ( Spirit world ) level.
6 - Great experience , took me 4 hours to finish the game with a 65% progress rate, will do it to 100% with this beautiful game.
7 - there are a lot more great stuff stored in this game : ) give it a try.


1 - Achievements somehow sounded too easy at first , i was just playing and suddenly seeing them popping up for attacking an enemy and losing health and dying and falling in the water ...etc , there are however more hard achievements than easy.
2 - Spirit world being a small part in the game, because i really liked it and think we should see it more in the game ( Devs responded they are thinking of making it bigger ) So this is no longer a Con

(At first the game wanted players to figure stuff by themselves but many complained calling it "hard" i just think they are lazy, i had no problems with it at all.
however the game is getting PrivateBeta updates, to fix those and added more info's so it wouldn't be as hard to know what to do ( honestly 10 years ago no one would'v complained , gamers are becoming lazier and lazier ) - written in 29/8)

Overall a wonderful Platforming experience i really enjoyed this game a lot, The price is really reasonable considering the effort and graphics placed into this game.

yet there is some room for progress for this game so i will leave it with a 8/10 for everything.

A terrific 2.5D platformer with gorgeous graphics, amazing soundtrack and better playability than most platformers these days.
If you ever felt, like me, that the new Donkey Kong games are ALL set on ice platforms ALL the time, Aritana got your back, with a movement and maneuverability as precise as in the good old times.

It starts pretty easy but becomes increasingly challenging from the third level onwards, where its mechanics of timed attacks start to resemble a puzzle-platformer and really begin to shine.

I've played it when it first launched in Splitplay, but now, with Steam achievements and trading cards, I'll certainly do it again!

With an innovative theme and clever mechanics, this game is a breath of fresh air in a genre that seems so stalled sometimes. Highly recommended ;)

Short Verdict: Aritana is a platformer with some puzzle elements about a Brazilian indian who's looking for the harpy's feather so the shaman can ban the spirit that possessed the tribe chief. The main aspect in its mechanics, apart from being a platformer that reminded me of the good ol' Donkey Kong games, is that you are always changing between Attack and Speed stances. The game is fresh, beautiful, and makes me really glad to know that there is at least one great indie game company in Brazil that can achieve this high quality. Kudos to DUAIK!

  • Very unique, heart-warming theme
  • The two stances are really well implemented and makes the game really fresh
  • It's not a brainless platformer--you have to think about what you're doing and just rushing will probably get you killed more often
  • They've really hit the spot on difficulty. It's not an easy game and you'll die a lot, but it's not one of those "let's see how to make this even more cruel" games. You'll die quite a few times and you'll learn as you try. Soon enough, you'll overcome the challenge by yourself and feel a great sense of accomplishment.
  • Collectibles in each level (5 amulets called Muiraquitãs and 1 new combo) that add to the exploring experience
  • Total of 9 well thought-out levels, plus 3 smart boss fights, which is content enough for an indie game (but Tupã knows I longed for more)
  • Controls are customizable, although I think the idea of attacking with the right analog stick fits perfectly in the game
  • The cartoonish graphics are really beautiful
  • BGM and SFX are also very nice

  • Combos seemed like a hidden feature to me. After you got them, there's no way to know which ones you've collected so far until after you beat the game. So if you forgot the sequence and moved on to the next level, there's no way of knowing. Also, the second and third combos I've unlocked (and I think there are other examples of this) could only be used after I got more basic attacks. Until then, I had already forgotten what the combo sequence was.
  • I would've really appreciate to be able to replay levels before I beat the game, in case I missed something. That level selection screen should've been available since the beginning, actually, and it would also have solved the not knowing the combo sequence problem.
  • To sum it all up, the start menu itself could have info on unlocked moves, combos, stage completion (if combo and amulets were found)

Bought on: Steam Auction for 1470 gems. Paying that much was a bargain! It's currently 33% OFF on Steam and I think this might be a good chance. Download the Demo if you're in doubt.

Aritana was an absolute joy to play and has gave me hope for the future of platform games. I have no problem in associating the game with the likes of Crash Bandicoot and Spyro etc.

As it stands I feel the game has all the makings of a cult classic.

So I’ve played this game for two hours so far, I’ve progressed about 30% of the way through the game.I think it’s good.
- I found it really challenging, I died frequently but it was still fun
- I thought that the visuals and sound effects were really well done
From the very beginning of the game I was dying over and over again. It was like this for me during every single section. You character is only able to take a few hits, healing is not easily obtained and there is not a large amount of room for error i.e. to make jumps, neutralize and avoid hazards. You have to patiently time your maneuvers really well and in the boss battle which I encountered you only have a split second to react to everything it does. I went through a LOT of trial and error to progress through the game. I found this frustrating sometimes, but it was challenging and good fun.
-----I found that I needed time to get the hang of the stance mechanic. For example when you attack an enemy, you are switched automatically to the strength stance. But often I forgot to switch back to the green agility stance and would fall to my death because this meant that I could not make some jumps. Occasionally I sort of scratched my head and wondered why they felt it necessary to have this mechanic in some cases. But I don’t think it’s a bad thing overall, it’s just different. I did like being able to switch to a stance to run faster and jump higher.
-----You gain new abilities as you progress, by the time I finished playing I’d just acquired the ability to activate slow motion. I think that was kind of cool.

I think the game looks quite good. I like the sound effects. This game brought back fond memories of the old side scrolling Donkey Kong games.

I recommend checking this game out. At the rate I was progressing through it should provide five or six hours or so of gameplay. I feel that the time you can spend on this game is mainly because of the difficulty. Not because of the actual number and size of the levels. If it was easy I think the stages would actually be short. The way it is, is not necessarily a bad thing. I think it’s acceptable for a game is challenging rather having physically long levels. I’d rather play a game like that than something easy and unsatisfying.
