Jet Gunner is a 2D platform action indie game that's full of Nestalgia. Full of action, gunfights, bosses and explosions so if you're into the whole 8-Bit vibe you should love this. From the sound, to the graphics to the flicker, this should pay tribute to those classic hard as nails, run 'n' gun games.

"SinclairStrange makes awesome games, kinda like Treasure's Genesis era work but with NES sprites. Play his free games on NG, then consider buying this!"

Upcoming Updates And Fist Slash: Of Ultimate Fury

So the past couple of months I've been trying to work out some bugs with the game, sadly not all can be fixed with out basically ripping apart the engine and starting again. This would take far to long and instead I've opted to actually make a new "spiritual sequel". However with some stuff I've learn from that, I'm planning to do some fixes with this game in the next month or two.

The first one is the achievements issue, some people are experiencing issues with the medals not unlocking or saving. With this I'm planning to add in-game medal system as well as Steam achievements. That way it'll unlock in game and if it doesn't unlock with Steam, you can always resubmit the achievements. This should also help with some saving issues too.

Gameboy version:
You can play a game boy version of this game for free over at Newgrounds:

I might add controller support as it being a flash game it's extremely hard to do this.

Also in the next couple of months I'm aiming to tweak the game slightly. For example enemy fire being slower and more "dodgable", weapon edits to make some of them more useful and general tidy up of some level designs.

Extra Content
I did have this planned but work got in the way and I just didn't have the time, other projects also came into the mix. Then I got to a point where I was re-designing and improving the engine when it became not compatible with Jet Gunner. So instead I opted to start fresh and make a whole new game in the same vein, hence; Fist Slash: Of Ultimate Fury.

Fist Slash: Of Ultimate Fury

You could call Fist Slash: Of Ultimate Fury a spiritual sequel, it's hopefully going to be a vast improvement to Jet Gunner. I've worked hard to get better controller support. I've also worked on the engine so it shouldn't lag to some users, better enemy AI and difficulty settings so everyone can enjoy the game.

It's currently up on Greenlight at the moment and doing rather well, so if you want to see more, go over and Greenlight the game! I'm aiming for it to be a budget title again and most likely cheaper than Jet Gunner!

So that's the news for now, until next time, take care!

It's like a decent mix of Contra and Mega-Man. Almost everything you would expect from NES game is in it. Smooth controls, nice 8bit graphics, power ups, challenge..... only downside of it is that music is kinda.....crappy. But if you are fan of NES run and gun games, you should give it a shot.

Oh, i forgot to mention... This game haves same problem like Castlevania and Ninja Gaiden on NES. If you get hit, you will be pushed back a bit which can sometimes cause deaths and enemies respawn.

Overall: 7/10

CONTRA + Mega Man for PC.

9/10, could do without the enemies firing as soon as they come on screen though. But other than that. Perfect.

- Fun and tight gameplay evoking the likes of Contra, Power Blade, and -- bizarrely yet awesomely -- Kirby (due to the innovative jetpack mechanic)
- Truly excellent graphics and sound design, with a feel that reminds one in particular of some of the finest Sunsoft games of the NES era
- That wonderful balance between being challenging enough to hold interest but nowhere near the obnoxious over-difficulty most modern "retro" games are rife with

- Sadly, the music doesn't compare to most decent NES games' OSTs, and is unfittingly quite poor in comparison to the rest of the game's quality. So many fantastic Famitracker musicians out there could have been hired to create a wonderfully composed and fitting soundtrack for this game; I don't really know what happened here, but it's very disappointing.
- The game's over with extremely quickly, even compared to NES games of very modest length, perhaps partly due to how rarely you'll die and be forced to memorize the stage and boss patterns as perfectly as most such games. It might be worth it to crank up the difficulty even on your first playthrough if you're an experienced retro gamer for this reason.
- Cutscenes are completely pointless even for a guy like me who generally enjoys them; simply slapping sprites that are weirdly ugly compared to the rest of the game of your player character and his boss and having them spout one or two very basic lines doesn't really have a place. Either go for Ninja Gaiden-style quality, Clash at Demonhead-style humor or just don't bother.

Overall, though, the fun factor and quality of *most* of the game is high enough that this title is absolutely worth the price tag for any oldschool action/platformer/run-and-gun fan.

Aye Jet Gunner!

The game bought back a ton's of memory from my childhood.
The game is basically same as contra in which you have to pass each level while fighting against Aliens,Robots and the boss.
The game consists of 5 worlds in which there are 5 levels in a game.

It's worth a shot guys. ;)

Gameplay - 10/10
Graphics - 10/10
Soundtrack - 10/10
Entertainment - 10/10

This game is awesome. The fact that there are complaints for this game is rediculas. Yes, enemies shoot at your right as they appear. Yes, the guns fire at a strange arc. Its a challanging game. It's really hard and it's meant to be. The story sucks? Really? It's an NES style game! You just need to have a general idea, it doesn't have to be a second Psychonauts it isn't meant for story. People are also saying it is trying to be contra but there is a difference between trying and being based off of or similar too. It isn't trying to replace or be contra, it is SUPPOSE to feel and look like Contra! It wasn't planning on being exactly the same it just wanted a similar feel. (Obviously I didn't make the game so I dont know how it is supposed to feel) But all in all, I had a lot of fun with this game and if you're in for a retro challange I would think about getting it. And that is not a price to complain about.
