This game was extremely disappointing in how it failed on very basic things.

When starting a new game the first thing I noticed wast that the towers are priced in $s but there are no $s listed on the interface. Instead the interface lists the equivalent of $s as gems.

Then moving on to actually placing a tower I discovered that there are no tool-tips. As far as I can tell from the interface there is no way to tell what any given tower does, why you would use one tower over another tower, and what effects upgrading a tower would have.

I would love to play this game further one these basic issues are resolved but these issues are so basic I don't feel like continuing to play this game at this point.

Well, my first thoughts of this game are "yes, this is a tower defense" and "no, there is nothing special about it"

You build your towers, the monster are getting killled, you get money, new monsters are coming, don't die. I can't say more about the gameplay, because there isn't anything else. I don't mind, if there isn't a tutorial in a game, but in Moonlight Minions there aren't even tooltips, so to find out the function of the tower you want to buy, you always have to open the help menu, and that's really annoying.

In my opinion it is not worth its money, because it's only brainless tower building.

Another small indie game got randomed into my play list..

This is a basic tower defense... Just like any other tower defense.... You must stop enemy from reaching exit.

Very simple concept.. very simple excuted... on Par graphics with nothing speical... On Par Music/sounds with nothing special.. Not really any story involved.. You don't get lesson to learn each different tower... (poison tower AOE slow and it stacks if u have mutiple together.) You won't run into any bugs...

It's price for a dollar for a bundle folder and it did it's job well...

All the achievements are all quite easy to do even if u play hard difficulty from start.. any Tower defense vetern should be able to finish each level in no more then 3 tries.. I am sure i can get all achievements in under 3 hours.. and i will do just that...16 levels only with an endless mode.

5/10.. nothing special.. nothing wrong.. another game that i am on fense for recommend or not recommend.. Since it's getting a lot negative review.. i will help to do the opposite.. think positive guys.

People are really hard on this scrappy little tower defense, but it offers something that all the other ones on Steam don't. It's a basic, no nonsense, simple tower defense game in the purest classic sense of the term. If that's not what you want, there is something in the order of 100+ variations on this concept on Steam right now (check out Sanctum 2 if you want the best, in my opinion). I play something like this game on my iPhone called Fantasy Defense, and I looked through all the games on Steam to find something like that and Moonlight Minions is the closest one.

There are problems here. There's no tool tips. The sound is very low budget sounding. The animation quality is sub par. But, it works. It's only a dollar, the developer priced it fairly for it's shortcomings. For what it's trying to do and what it claims to be, it's right on the money.

Moonlight Minions is a generic tower defense game . Instead of Towers you have cave sctructures like mushrooms,spores and crystals .

Honestly the only big issue for me here is the lack of tower stats . For the most part you can guess what power level towers have if you played games in this genre but it would be nice to know exact statistics . Either way it's not a big deal because gameplay depth isn't that complicated .

Also you can use one of 3 AOE spells like Lightning,Earthquake and Meteor shower which are unlocked by beating the game . You can play short 90 minutes campaign or endless rounds for high rankings .

For $1 I have no problem recommending it but if you tired of this genre and looking for something new definitely pass .

The usuall classic casual Tower Defense.
I don't know what people expect for a buck, but this game is minimalistic and nice. Graphics sucks, but it's a tower defense game, you really need graphics? The only one thing i expected is that when I put cursor over a tower, to see description of what that does.
Perfect "office-game" for some time waste.
Pretty sad to see so many negs.

+ minimalistic design.
+ simple
+ supports "windowed" as also fullscreen
+ fun
+ last, but not least: achievements

- short
- graphics
- info on towers

8/10 for the 0.67 € i payed. (Full price would be a fair price in my opinion)

In fact, it's not a bad game, but a td finished in less than 4 hours with all achievements is a bit sad.
All I can tell you is that I enjoyed it, but, again, for 4 hours.
So, from my point of view, I can make a positive review because I got what I expected nevertheless if you are hoping to find a very good td in that game go away.

This game is okay... It can be a lot better though. It lacks any kind of explaination of what towers do, but on the other side, it is a good way to get your steam achievment % up...

I found the difficulty to ramp up to "grind map until you figure out the "one way" to beat it". Not particularly fond of not being told what things are or what things do or otherwise notify me of what is happening by way of tooltips billboards and other informative cues. By the time you get to level 5 you better have memorized what towers do and where they are best placed and partnered with through repetitive behavior or you might get too frustrated to keep playing. Once you figure out what the towers are and what creeps they are powerful against the game gets a lot more fun. Which by the way, can take up to several hours to the "new to tower defense genre" player. This is a grinder TD game similar to Prime World: Defenders and Ancient Planet or even Defense Grid. If you are a hard core TD nut you'll like the challenge of learning the game through tens if not hundreds of hours of trial and error. But to those who like to have a strategy that is derived from data and information given to you by the game, will not play this game much at all and might get 10 hours out of it in total. At the time of writing I have 2.1 hours of play time and plan to give it at least another 25 before I give it a solid judgement.

How much range or power or whatever a tower has is not known to you in the game other than the 'info' tab on the front page. I have yet to find out what the enemies are and what they do other than memorizing their cute little sprite and alocating -> thats a land unit, or that's a land unit with armor, that's a flyer...etc...

Take any run of the mill tower defense game and change the theme and you have this game.
Does not properly inform the player about the game or the units in the game

Game difficulty over time can become impossible to the casual player early on
Game maps seem to be 'one way' solutions or at best minimal types of tower pattern(partners) solutions

The small selection of buildings is ultimately the grand failing of this simplistic tower defence game. However it's weakened even more by poor UI/UX design that obscures the effectiveness or even the names of the buildings while playing.

The good stuff:
This is a solid and quite interesting tower defense. It's short, Id say 10 hours for 100% achievment completion for anyone competent. 6 towers, 3x16 levels (easy/normal/hard). It's quite satisfying to complete. The price is very fair.

I'd say it stumbles over the "recommend line" by a few meters. It's easy to understand the opinions of those who disagree.

The bad stuff:
* Obvious mobile port.
* Non existant keyboard controls. Bah.
* Silly "tap-mechanics" that has no place in a pc game.
* No info at all of towers and monsters. It might not be much but you have to figure it out yourself.
* Unfair RNG. Waves, monster spawnpoints and money drops are (sometimes? always?) randomized. It becomes painfully obvious on the last level on hard. I'm certain that some setups are impossible. But hey, quit, leave the map and try again for a different wave setup. Play a few times to get decently lucky with drops and it should be easy.
* Once you figure out the towers and the basic strategy, most levels play the same.
* I never used the 2nd tower once. Whatever that means you can figure out yourself!
