Bug acknowledgement

Hey everyone, we just wanted to let you know we're aware of the bug regarding the bat not moving all the way to the left/right of the screen.

From some initial tests it seems you should be able to play the game normally if you have your sensitivity slider over 17%, this hopefully works for you while we try to sort out the problem.

We'll look into a proper fix ASAP.

Thank you for your patience

I had no problems with this game and all the bugs I read about in other reviews were non-existant for me. I absolutely love this game, it's a classic idea gone 3d

Is it me, or is it the game, that wont let me reach the very side of the map ? I cant go side enough, and the ball is falling off after each start ... this makes the game unplayable, at least for me...

This game is broken and I can not recommend anyone buy it in its current state.
The paddle does not go all the way over to the right of the screen if you use the mouse, it will with an x-box controller, but its all kind of a moot point because no matter what you use to control it , the paddle moves so sluggish you won't hit anything anyway. You also still need to select all the menu items with your mouse because there is no controller support in the menus either.
I wanted to like this game, the graphics do look nice, but all that is pointless if its an unplayable mess.

Waste of time and money.... the paddle does not even go all the way to the side of the levels making completing them more luck than skill.... nope, theres better games of this genre out there.

at first I was gonna neagtivly rate it, not cause of the gameplay, but because the cursor sensetevity needs to be up to a certain point in order to reach the sides of the map. but then I went into options and realized I could use my xbox360 controller. which is better gameplay, and fixes that problem.

Ionball 2: Ionstorm is a AAA 3D Arkanoid / Breakout clone that features hardcore Arkanoid and Breakout like game-play and introduces many original concepts to individualize itself in a crowded genre. The game's difficulty and speed are jacked from the very first board. The speed of the game is extreme and powerups and weapons take some time to acquire making the game at first somewhat difficult to acclimate to.

In Arkanoid and most clones, weapons drop as each board is played. Ionball 2 implements an XP system where XP is released from defeated enemies and needs to be caught with the "bat". Upon board completion the XP becomes your currency to which you can use to purchase both passive and active upgrades for use on all boards.

There is a scoring system as well as a continue option if you trigger game over and which will deduct from your running tally if utilized. The Steam Punk levels are hub based in that you may play any of the 10 boards in the current hub in any order. Once completed, the final level of the hub will need to be completed to advance to the next hub. The game features over 60 levels and 3 boss levels.

Ionball 2 is intense and requires serious concentration especially with the crazy particle effects employed in the game. Outstanding graphics, sounds and a pulse pounding musical score complement the well animated enemy designs. Many boards are littered with different droids which have distinctive responsibilities. Some for example may replenish life of worn down enemy units.

With Arkanoid clones there was always the issue of the last remaining enemy. Many clones just leave the enemy on the board until hit. Ionball 2 rewards you by eliminating an enemy if you've kept the ball alive. This is applicable not just for the last enemy but from the start of the board to it's completion. Given the speed of the game, this mechanism works as a reward to the player for keeping the ball in play.

Ionball 2 features spectacular effects and explosions. While the game is just marvellous to look at, all of the pretty effects may interfere with your concentration and thereby increasing the difficulty in an already difficult game and jacking the intensity.

Ionball2: Ionstorm, challenging, polished and overall an indie gem.

First, I should let you know that while I LOVE Arkanoid-style games, I have never enjoyed an Arkanoid-like game with 3D graphics.

I wanted to enjoy Ionball 2, but for me, the gameplay felt extremely frustrating. The ball does not always travel at the same speed (slows down when near the paddle), and the angles don't always make sense. All the fancy graphics, while very well done, are so flashy that it's hard for me to keep track of the ball. Maybe it's just my eyesight, but I get so overwhelmed with the flashing, explosions, and falling "XP" to collect that I often fail from distraction more than from a lack of ability.

For my money and time, I'd much rather play Wizorb, which I can easily recommend (and which happens to be 2D).

Great reincarnation of the classic arkanoid style game.
Many power-ups, cool fx and tough end bosses, plus additional Tower Assault mode, which means 90+ levels of pure brick madness. Higly recommended arcade action!

I'd really like to love this game, but I can't. The main problem is the visibility of the ball. It's the most important pillar in these kind of games. When a ball is full off effects and it pulls a chemtrail-like shinging line, and the whole screen has the same kind of effects, then you'll lose soon.

Just give us a normal ball please :-(

This Feels So Good! Pure Dopamine! :D*

This revitalization of the old classic games like Arkanoid is the very definition of a next-gen game! The best I have ever come across. Amazing job bringing an old game mechanic to a whole new level!

* Better go see your doctor before playing it. This game has a strong neuro-active impact on your brain. xD

Holy Moly - after 2 mins I was all

"I CAN'T SEE ANYTHING - HOW THE HELL - BAD REVIEW THIS!!!"

Then I went into the options, dialled the fx down, switched to the overhead camera and it got a LOT better!!

This isn't one of those breakout games where you carefully knock the ball around trying to get that last brick - it's frenetic and BONKERS busy - you will need to zone-in to it - you may want to tune-out the music unless hardroad/metal/bassdrop is your thing (I kinda like it but it repeats a BIT too often)

Once you've gotten that all done - it's really quite good I think!

An excellent game.

Just finished after 5 hours, though you can continue by playing through the levels again another time -- continuing to upgrade your character.

It's a great way to increase your reaction speed. It's basically an upgrade to the classic games Breakout (Atarii 2600) and Arkanoid.

Your job is to kill the brick-shaped aliens by spending for a glowing "ionball" that slowly injures them until they die. The ball moves quickly, the explosions are a great distraction that makes it hard to follow the ball, and there are tons of upgrades to make the game exciting and give you different levels of replayability.

No crashes, but I found two minor bugs that required the restart of the level. But that has no effect on your game.

Graphics begin at 640x480 and go up.

Music is nice, but there's dubstep and I know some of you don't like that. Of course, you can turn down the volume so you don't hear it if you prefer.

The level design toward the end of the game is exceptional and I highly commend the level designer.

I don't like that you can die even after you finish off the last "alien brick", your lives max out at 10, and there are no level numbers (ragingly annoying).

But other than that, I find this to be a quality game.
