Reviews

“There are 10 different gathering professions: mining, fishing, bug lore, plant lore, smithing, cooking, tailoring, woodcrafting, gardening and ranching. The coolest part is that one character can become an expert at all of them. So Villagers and Heroes is a class-based, sandbox-crafter's paradise with nicely interactive housing.”

About This Game

Step into a magical land unlike any other!

Villagers and Heroes is a free-to-play MMO game in which players experience the thrill of battling unique monsters, the satisfaction of crafting powerful weapons and gear, and the pleasure of building lasting friendships in a friendly community.

Gnomish Augmentation = Sandbox Gameplay.

This unique feature is at the heart of the deep yet elegantly simple player choice system in Villagers & Heroes. The weapons and armor that a player equips not only grant a versatile assortment of heroic feats and spells, but also a large array of proficiencies and augmented abilities. The process of Gnogmenting gives the players the ability to mix, match, swap, replace, customize and design gear exactly how they want! Combine ancient elder gear with remarkable weaponry dropped from the monsters of the world. Or craft your own gear using any or all of the 10 gathering and crafting skills available. Gnogmenting is a completely free-form, sandbox system that is unmatched by any other game in its depth, and lets players test every tactic and indulge every creative whim.

Bounty Runs!

Bounties are powerful adversaries and monsters that roam every corner of the world. When a player defeats a bounty monster, they earn a large reward, regardless of the size of their party! Solo the beasties by yourself, or rampage across the countryside with a group of friends. Bounty rewards are instantaneous and do not require activation. This feature encourages teamwork and strategy.

Live in a Real Home in a Real Village.

You are the architect, the farmer, and the rancher. With a wide range of building styles to choose from, players can design and decorate their own houses, as well as choose which crops to plant in their garden, or select the type of animals they'd most like to raise. But players needn't go at it alone! Help your village grow from a tiny hamlet to a thriving metropolis by aiding your neighbors with community projects which will ultimately benefit every member of the village.

This is a fun, interesting and low stress game to play. I would recommend it for all ages. There is a concerted effort to diminish overt sexual coustuming and because it's not a PvP type of game, there is a great deal of cooperation and players tend to be helpful rather than competitive.

The developers are very responsive, even to individual needs of players. They also continuously work on improving the game play with better graphics, and more involved story lines.

This is a great game and its a lot of fun to explore all of the different locations. You can even have your own home and also be the mayor of your village. Have pets and a garden as well as blacksmith and explore caves. The flippy boots are fun also.

For anyone that has any experience in playing video games or especially MMOs, I do not recommend this game.

Graphics: The photos look much better than this game actually looks in game. For the most part it is large empty spaces without much in the way of adventure. The coloring is very cartoonish with little to no texturing.

Story/Quest Lines: The story can be rather humorous, however the generic grinding system leaves one rather bored. Combat can be really buggy. Mobs sometimes don't aggro immediately. When ignoring mobs and running away, they will eventually drop aggro but will suddenly come back. Mobs will sometimes randomly respawn immediately after killing them. While testing out the archer my auto attack would randomly just stop and I'd have to attack, again to get it working. Very buggy.

Crafting System: The crafting and gathering is even more boring, as one can pick from the same tree until you have all of the materials that tree or resource supplies that is needed.

If you are of the younger generation of gamers and have little to no experience with MMORPGs, this would be great for beginners. Possibly recommended for children (maybe 8 and under) - not recommended for pre-teen to adult.

Its a cartoony MMO; and its quite fun.

So as a gamer that games alot; (40+ a week) finds this game is a hidden (albeit unpolished) gem.

There are much better options for games like this. It's lacking depth imo, and it's too repetitive. It's basically like any other mmo but just a bit worse. Still, worth to give it a try. I really enjoy grinder games, however this one just takes it to a whole new level - which I like. I find myself yawning most of the time and getting frustrated with the odd spawning rates though. I have yet to try another class beside hunter, hopefully warrior is a lot more fun.
