Mosaico doesn't show "In game: Mosaico" anymore.

Hi there!

It is now possible to run Mosaico without Steam showing your online status as "In game: Mosaico".

This feature has been largely requested over time, so I'm happy to announce that from now on you'll be able to run Mosaico separately from Steam client. This also means that if you set the "Run at Windows startup" option, Steam client will not run anymore.

This feature has been available for beta users for about two weeks. Now that it is implemented in the main branch, you may want to disable your participation at the beta.

What changes now?
This change was made possible by the integration of a new licensing system. This system is developed in-house and it's separated from Steam DRM. If you own Mosaico you received a serial key that's used to register Mosaico with our license server. Registration happens silently so there's no need to manually input the serial key. In future it will possible to use this key to register the retail version of Mosaico, which is downloadable from here: At the moment though, this is still not possible, so please be patient :)

Also please note that "In game: Mosaico" will be shown for about 10 minutes overall, before being hidden permanently. This is intended to give you enough "play time" to be able to write a review on Steam.

What's new?
This version is 1.8.1. Here's a list of changes:

  • New feature to import and export snapshots. Save your snapshots on a file and load them on another PC to have the same work environment.
  • New feature to import and export settings. Export your settings to another computer or just save more than one profile to use on the same PC.
  • Change settings folder. You can set Mosaico to store snapshots and settings in a folder of your choice. For example a shared folder over a network.
  • Fixed a bug where recycled windows handles may cause restored windows to be swapped.
  • Steam version doesn't show "In game: Mosaico" anymore
  • Fixed a bug where maximized windows would be restored on a wrong monitor
  • Mosaico now remembers its position and size through reboots.

Please feel free to contact us at or here in the forums if you have any questions/suggestions, thanks!

“Mosaico is an innovative desktop tool that simplifies window managing where others fail to do so.”
4.5 / 5 – PC World

“Mosaico allows you to have multiple windows open at the same time without them overlapping”

About This Software

Organize your apps on screen and create a different layout for each activity: work, internet, gaming, you name it!

With Mosaico you can easily create app layouts and quickly switch between them, saving you a lot of time and improving your productivity. Mosaico is ideal when you work with more than 4 or 5 windows open. Just create your own layouts and stop searching for the "right" app in the Windows™ taskbar.

Each layout is fully customizable. You decide if an app is active or not, and if you don't need it anymore you can delete it all over.

Mosaico greatly improves the basic Windows™ positioning feature. You can create a desktop layout by just dragging windows around the screen. Mosaico will overlay the possible next position of the window, just release the button and it will be positioned there. You can restore any saved layout with a single click. Mosaico will launch the needed apps and put them in the right place.

Mosaico is perfect if you have a multi-monitor setup. You can send an app to another monitor and it will keep its proportion to the new screen, which is handy if you have monitors of different size and orientation.

Mosaico supports global keyboard shortcuts. You can fast position and resize windows using CTRL+ALT and a numeric key, or any other key you chose to customize in the options.

Mosaico is easy to use, saves time, and is constantly improved following users feedback.

Mosaico is a must have if you work with a lot of windows at once, especially if you were spoiled by Hydravision on ATI cards. When I moved to Nvidia the only option was trying to hack-in outdated software for their professional cards and that didn't work.

Soulid Studio provided quick response and has continued to address issues reported directly to support or in reviews which is pretty cool given most things on Steam these days are published and forgotten.

Mosaico is an application that lets you quickly and easily organise your windows desktop with multiple profiles and improved functionality for anchoring windows. Initially I gave it a bad review because of a number of technical failures. On the developers reccomendation I am giving Mosaico another go. I've only had a quick play and so far I'm not going to change my reccomendation but it is better than when I first reviewed it. I will keep it running for a few days to see if I can be pursauded to change my mind. Anyway first impressions of the update:

- The ability to anchor mosaico out of sight has been much improved and it is now non-intrusive.

- The abilty to anchor anywhere on a multiscreen setup is great.

- Shortcuts have been added to switch between profiles. This works very nicley and it was one of the main reasons I gave it the thumbs down but the shortcut also opens mosaico. It would be much better if it just changed the profile without intruding.

- Occasionally when you switch profiles Mosaico won't close until you manually minimise.

- I experienced some slowdown of the mouse when switching profiles which lasted for about 15 seconds. I'm running good hardware.

- I would like it to be anchored on the right but when I do this it still opens up to the right off screen.

Overall I like this product and I want it to work well. I also like the developer who obviously read my original review and made changes. This is good because it means he's still working on it. I will keep testing it for him as the concept is brilliant and when I feel it's ready for reccomendation I will give the thumbs up. Really there isn't a lot to do for this to be a great peice of software but as it is now expect some teething issues. It just needs to get out the way and stay out the way and it will get a reccomendation from me.

Oh dear god... this new update actually made it even worse.

Thank you uakiki for responding. Unfortunately, these updates have done nothing to improve the experience. If there's one program I expect Mosaico to be able to handle, it's Steam - you know, the platform you're selling your product on. Yet Mosaico can't keep track of the different windows Steam creates. A chat window takes the place of the main window, the main window gets compressed into my friends list, etc.

I actually switched to a different music player, because Mosaico breaks Winamp terribly. But Aimp doesn't even get launched or move by Mosaico, so I have to reposition it manually. Which is the entire point of spending $20 on a tool whose sole purpose is to move windows around.

And while this isn't Mosico's fault, any application you keep open shows up to your friends as you constantly being in it. For something like Mosaico where I just keep it open, and press enter on occasion to straighten my windows, my friends can never see what game I'm playing. Because of this, I now avoid buying applications on Steam.

SLOW and non-friendly AT ALL

Confusing and broken interface. Freeze a LOT, required to have Steam open to launch it.
Nearly no feature at all for a PAID software.

Break the Windows taskbar, even make it appear 2 times on the same screen, EVEN AFTER A REBOOT nothing is fixed.

The only feature it provide are already mostly inside windows, all the others features are just broken or freeze your windows.

Autosnap can already be done in windows, EVEN putting them in cascade without the use of the software. And registering "last default location" when you open a software already exist inside windows.

This software bring nothing useful that isn't in windows. It's freezing your computer and making it slow, even on a very powerful PC.

Only useful if you still run on XP SP3, otherwise, all the features its offer are already in Windows.
BUT even there, if you have an old PC that run XP SP3, it will just going to make it freeze even more.

A gaming PC of the year freeze on this software over and over...

At this price tag i was expecting more features... YOU CANNOT even edit shortcuts keys! Disappointing.
