«I wanted to allow players to play the game while I develop it, since basically all of the fundamental systems are done, I just need to add more content to flesh out the experience, like new enemies, stages, items, and characters. So, might as well give access to the content I already have done so players can experience it, and the feedback will help me balance the existing content and make future content better.»
