Current Status:

As described on our Kickstarter update, this first release basically allows our community to get started designing their parks, creating custom assets, and importing/sharing custom scenery.

Most modules are 70 percent complete. Each will be released in phases, with additional modules unlocked as we polish and add new features requested by the community.

Looking back, the game has branched out way beyond its original design, as we listened to our customer base. We have held focus group meetings with backers, interacted with forum members, and truly set out to build the ultimate theme park sandbox game, shaped by the community.

The Current Build Includes:

Full featured editor with easy to use transform tools and helper functions.

Dynamic Custom Scenery Builder. Using our build sets, or your own custom sets, create unlimited custom scenery that give your park a unique style. Objects created can saved with embedded meshes, textures, and thumbnails, then shared with friends. When finished simply drop into your library folder and they instantly become part of the custom libraries.

Extensive importing/exporting tools for easy file sharing. We have put extra effort into allowing players to easily share all their amazing designs with simple one click imports! Custom scenery, materials, lights, paths, parks and skies can be easily exported to a single file with an embedded thumbnail. When finished, simply drop into your library folder and they instantly become part of the custom library for easy inclusion into your projects.

Powerful real-time path tools. Please see the videos for a detailed view. This extremely powerful tool allows players to quickly build, layout their park with complex curved paths, walls, bridges, and foundations. You can even attach trees, meshes, or particles effects like torches that will be automatically created, and positioned, for you.

Particle Library - A few particle effects are included in this build, with the full particle editor coming in a future update. Particle effects are 80 percent complete.

Built in object libraries including shops, cafes, castle, and more... Easy placement makes creation a snap:

Flat ride library: PLEASE NOTE: Flat rides are static and just for aesthetics. The animation module is 60 percent complete and will be unlocked in a future update.

Light Library: Place lights easily with fully adjustable properties including color and attenuation;

Terra-forming. Our engine will procedurally paint your landscape based on user specified textures and parameters. 12 textures are used to accomplish the final result, so smooth transitioning is done for you. However we realize some may want to paint paths and since this tech already exists in the engine, we are looking at painting in an upcoming update (based on user request). Other than that, the terra-forming is very complete and powerful. Creating complex landscape is very simple, and easy to use.

Our next Phases Include
Phase 2:
Custom flat ride designer and animator, with ultra realistic physics. This module is one of our finest. It includes proprietary tools and technologies that allow players to build custom rides from scratch, with amazing realism, using patented technology. This module is currently 60 percent complete.

Phase 3:
Coaster construction. This module quite a lot already finished including on the fly rail type changing, coloring, station linking, rail supports, lifts, cat-walks, and more... However we want to continue to add additional features requested by the community.

Phase 4:
Music streaming with new custom DLC sound tracks.

Phase 5:
Custom train design. This module is extremely powerful and almost fully complete. Please refer to our videos for a detailed look. Here you can create almost any custom train imaginable, including importing your own custom meshes, built by you or downloaded from the community

Phase 6:
Keyframer. This powerful module is 80 percent complete and is for advanced users that want to hand animate objects and physics for that extra detailed touch. Please see video library for a detailed look.

Phase 7:
Particle Effects. Particle effects are 80 percent complete.

Phase 8:
Guest integration with path-finding AI and behavioral trees.”

*** Custom Train Importing & Park of the Month Winner ***

Hello Everyone,

One of the more exciting features Theme Park Studio offers is coaster train construction and importing. This is a feature found exclusively in Theme Park Studio.

Custom train construction is as easy to use as our new Express Coaster Editor. This feature will roll out with the next stages. For a demonstration of its ease of use, refer to this video:


For the ultimate in customization, Theme Park Studio's other unique feature allows you to import any model you design. It will apply physics and animate based on simple naming conventions. There is no need to setup hierarchies, or apply joints. All you need to do is assign a tag to the name. During import, Theme Park Studio does all the work parsing your file and setting the hierarchy, links, and animations for you. If you want to get started building a custom train from scratch, we have added a new manual 'Importing Custom Trains' which can be found under Help/Documentation. This will explain the tags you assign and how train pieces are broken up.

Remember, if you are a casual user, and do not want to build trains from scratch, it is no problem. We will soon be rolling out our custom train construction set. Using this tool you can assemble a custom train within Theme Park Studio, with no need for external software.

With both these features being unique to Theme Park Studio, we offer the casual gamer and the advanced user the ultimate in custom train design.

His park is available for download in Steam Workshop. 'Park of the Month' winners will be selected using a combination of community votes and careful internal review. Parks will be chosen based on creativity, park layout, environment, and coaster design. Winners will be presented on the Steam Announcement page, Facebook, Youtube channel, and in our newsletter.

Coasters Stage 1 Now Released!

Hello Everyone,

We are very excited to start rolling out our roller coaster construction tools.
The new Express Coaster Editor allows you to quickly build amazing coasters in minutes. With this power editor you can bend, stretch, twist, and pull rails into almost any shape imaginable/ There is also a specialty segment library for easily dropping in Loops, Cobra Rolls, Helix, Batwings, and more! There is also a full support library allowing you add additional supports of your choosing through a simple point and click method.

Once finished, you can upload your coaster to Steam Workshop, or download coasters from Steam Workshop built by the community.

As we mentioned in our last newsletter, coasters will be released in 3 stages. Coasters are clearly the largest, and most exciting part of Theme Park Studio, and require extra effort to give them the attention they deserve. We wanted to get a copy into your hands, so we broke it up into 3 stages.

This build represents Stage 1 and has the bulk of the functionality included.

Stages 2 and 3 will be released next. Much of the functionality in the upcoming stages is complete, and will be released as we finish.

This new module allows players to build amazing coasters easily and quickly. Advanced users still have access to specific rail position, heading, pitch, roll, tension, accelerator, and brake properties for additional customization.

Both the Express Editor and Advanced Properties panel will allow both the casual gamer and advanced coaster enthusiast to build almost any coaster imaginable.

About the Game

Theme Park Studio is a powerful suite of tools that allows players to design, build, and experience stunning amusement parks of their own design. Players can build whatever they can imagine, and then share it online for others to experience.

'Theme Park Studio Professional Edition' is scheduled for use in 2014 by Intamin Amusement Rides to showcase their newest coaster designs.

Theme Park Studio includes Steam Workshop integration. You can now browse through libraries of Parks, Rides, Custom Scenery, and Environments built by the community, without ever leaving the program. There is also a new 'Publish' feature, for uploading your creations directly from Theme Park Studio.

The 'Enter Park' feature adds a new dimension by allowing players to take a virtual tour of community built parks. In addition, the upcoming Oculus Rift support will take the virtual park experience to a whole new level.

Theme Park Studio has been in development for 1 1/2 years and integrates our proprietary game engine and IDE used in the serious games industry.

Please join us, through early access, in continuing this exciting project. Early Access will provide the means to take this title even further, and make Theme Park Studio the ultimate theme park simulator.

Using our rich toolset, players begin by sculpting their terrain, creating lakes, rivers, and raising knolls and mountains. Next, the opening gate is set and paths are placed with our easy path tools. No staggered or sharp edges here, just smoothly curved pathways procedurally built on the fly. With the click of a button, fences are created, stairs are generated, and trees are procedurally placed. Now it's time to build some rides. Coaster creation is both easy and flexible. Coaster rails can be bent, twisted, and shaped into almost any design imaginable. Add brakes, accelerators, tunnels, or have the coaster scream through a custom mesh, like a volcano. There is virtually no limit to what you can come up with. Prefabricated template pieces are also provided as helpers. Want to add a batwing or cobra roll? Simply click the icon and it will drop right in. All the power combined with all the ease of use.

Theme Park Studio broke new ground when we unveiled our custom flat ride designer. This unique module allows to design, build, and invent custom rides. Physics can be applied to objects connected by custom joints. Next, animations are applied to these physics objects. Animation properties include, Torque, Force, Dampen Torque, Dampen Force, Position, Rotation, and Scale. With this functionality the number of flat rides you can create with Theme Park Studio is virtually unlimited! If building custom flat rides is not your thing, no problem, simply select from our library of pre-built rides. In just one click, the ride drops right in to your park, with full physics and animation built in.

Next, fill out your park with restaurants, gift shops, bathrooms, etc.. You can pick from our built in libraries, or download custom meshes and import them for maximum customization. Turn your park into a stunning, picturesque environment with our procedural vegetation libraries. With a simple click drop in trees, hedges, bushes, and flower beds, that subtly sway in the wind. Using our particle effects engine, add fountains, fireworks, smoke, and torches for the final touch. Finally, open the park to guests and watch the peeps tour your park and ride your custom coasters and flat rides. You can also take a first person virtual tour through your park, and experience your own rides. Theme Parks are easily saved and archived. You can upload them to one of the Theme Park Studio coaster exchange sites that will be coming out soon. Theme Park Studio is a product built for the community where players can truly build the amusement park of their dreams.

Theme Park Studio features include:

- Steam Workshop Integration. Players can now simply browse through libraries of Parks, Rides, Custom Scenery, and Environments, and with a couple clicks, become immersed in a virtual theme park world! You can also publish your custom built parks directly to Steam Workshop to share with the Steam community!

What is Theme Park Studio and who would want it?

Theme Park Studio is a sandbox theme park building simulator game with no limits. You can build as much as you want however you want. Once you figure out how the program works, it is really fun and you can make gorgeous things. Gone are the days of being stuck to a stupid grid, forcing strict limitations on where you can put stuff. Also gone are the days where you are stuck with the limited content that the devs provide. Importing new content is easy, and the program is specifically designed for no fuss custom importing of 3d objects, terrain brushes, scenery, textures etc... You can even create and customize your own skyboxes.

So you should purchase if:
*You want to help out and support some awesome devs who are open, honest, and passionate about their game
*You love making pretty things and being creative
*You want to get involved in the already awesome growing community and start contributing

You should not purchase if:
*You are looking for the next Roller Coaster Tycoon game. This is a sandbox pure and simple. There is no money management or scenarios of any kind. Although there is a strong possibility that it may be added in the future.
*You are a party pooper or a hater
*You are looking for a 100% perfect feature complete product. It's early access. Do bear that in mind and when they say "Please only purchase if you are interested in being involved in the ongoing development of this exciting project" They aren't kidding.

From the very beginning, the idea behind Theme Park Studio was to give coaster and theme park enthusiasts an extensive "toolset" for constructing complete theme parks. When I first heard about the title, the word Studio indicated that this was exclusively for theme park design, and not some game. This is actually a dream come true for those that simply want a giant sandbox featuring extensive tools to design an entire theme park. You know what kept RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 alive long after Atari abandoned it? A community of creative people who decided to bend the program beyond its limitations. I know firsthand, as I participated. We went beyond the two expansion packs using tools written by a few talented members, but it wasn't an easy task, as RCT3 was not designed with user modification in mind.

Pantera was aiming to fill in a void, by developing the first true theme park creation engine. One of the major draws is its open arms approach to user modification, allowing creative minds to go wild. As months progressed, more and more fans of this genre jumped on the bandwagon, with interests ranging all over the map. Features that weren't originally planned were starting to creep in, like having peeps interact in your park, or a UI that would appeal to a much wider audience. This in turn caused a lot of rethinking and changes, and would push the release date much further away. Most felt it would be worth the wait, while others became inpatient, and wanted something done yesterday.

What came out of this was the decision for an Early Access release. This would mean, instead of backers waiting much longer for a finished product, they could ride along with the developer as each planned phase gets implemented and activated. Early Access would introduce the community to one of the main aspects of Theme Park Studio: Landscaping and Scenery.

The landscaping tool in Theme Park Studio is quite impressive. A simple, yet powerful tool set allows you to make instant mountains, rolling hills, deep valleys, rivers with flowing water, or even the glaciated rocks of Yosemite. You can concentrate on small areas, or plop down huge terrain maps and watch as it molds the landscape before your eyes. In addition, new textures can be loaded in to simulate all kinds of terrain that go way beyond the default grassy plains. You can also change bump and diffuse maps to add further realism to your park and its surrounding. Top this all off with an equally capable environment editor featuring modifiable skyboxes as well as fog and light vector adjustments, and you're talking endless variations for your massive land.

One of greatest features of Theme Park Studios is its path making tool. Aspiring designers can simply click and place walkways that curve and stretch any way desired, as the ground automatically adapts to each section planted. Paths can be easily be set to be very wide or narrow, and have automatically generated content like trees, park benches and much more magically adhere to one or both sides; you curve your paths, the tress curve with it! Textures can easily changed from a quaint cobblestone walkway, to a massive stretch of tarmac or concrete. The wrench will be your best friend as you bolt down your paths and everything else you've worked on in the game, to avoid accidently moving things out of place.

The heart of any theme park is its scenery, and with TPS's scenery builder, anyone can put together all types of structures for their parks. The built in primitives are simple shapes that can be scaled, moved and combined with other shapes, while the copy and paste function reduces repetitive building. Add one of the many built in materials, and you can have some very impressive results. Those with no knowledge of 3D modeling programs will finally have a chance make their own scenery. You can even save and share your custom made pieces.

Speaking of 3D modeling, Theme Park Studio will give advanced desingers all the tools they need to import and export highly detailed scenery, whether it be modular building blocks, or complete structures like cafes, shops, bridges and so much more. The flexibility for most of the tools in this game is mind boggling.

There are many other features in Theme Park Studio, like advanced lighting, colorizing, material editing, and much more.

TPS's early release does not include working flat rides or rollercoasters. There are some, flat rides included, but they are static. The upcoming flat ride designer is set for the next phase which with bring these rides to life with animation. Get set to see an influx of flat rides designed by the community such as recreations of real world rides, along with new inventions that could be the next best thing!

The heart of TPS of course, will be its coasters. Expect to see the same flexibility of Theme Parks Studio's other features to apply hear as well. Pantera is working hard to make sure coaster building is approachable for everyone without forfeiting realism like RollerCosater Tycoon 3 did with its odd physics and questionable track choices on certain coasters. The first person experience was hindered because of this.

It's really fantastic to be in with Theme Park Studio from the ground up. Early Access users get a head start, and can report any further bugs while also suggesting new features or changes that will make this the ultimate theme park simulator. While waiting for each phase to commence, we can take our time designing wonderful landscapes and create all kinds of scenery to share among the community. Trust me, that alone is a lot to tinker with.

And finally, it irks me when I read any negative reviews which complain about missing features or an "incomplete" product. These folks may either not know what the idea behind Early Access is, or are simply the type who add something to their shopping cart without reading or doing any research. It's like being allowed on a movie set, then attempting to review it before production is complete. Speaking of production, this review is a wrap..

Oh, and heads up: Custom Scenery is already beginning to flow!

Even though it's early days, this game has massive potential! Unlike RCT3 this provides ultimate freedom and customisation, if you want to build it, you can. Unlike NoLimits 2, it doesn't take a 2 week course of reading the documentation to learn how to use the menus.

If your favourite part of RCT was designing parks in sandbox mode, then this is definitely something for you. I can not wait to see where this game ends up down the line

There is a lot of potential with Theme Park Studio. I can see this filling the massive RCT size hole in my heart. This is early access so be prepared not to expect a complete product. I will update this review as I run into things worth mentioning, or as the game gets updated to new phases. If you have any questions I will be happy to help!

-Custom everything! You can truly make unique parks.
-The graphics really bring your park to life. Makes other theme park sim games look like they are from the early 2000's! (Sadly most are lol)
-Options, options, options! You can build almost anything with the importing feature. You can make any model in a program like Sketchup and have it preserved perfectly in TPS!
-High replayability. The game will last as long as your imaginations does. I was still playing RCT2 to this day, and this game trumps it with all of its options of building.
-Steam Workshop recently added! Awesome addition.

-I was surprised by the patk size. I was expecting more to be honest. It's not small by any means, but I can see it becoming a problem. Hopefully this will change in a later realease.
-FPS issues. Doesn't matter your computer specs, you'll get lag eventually.
-Can't build big parks, you'll get an "Oasis memory error". This killed my interest in the game for now.

The concept makes me press recommnd but for the hardcore, we will have to keep waiting for that perfect game.

Early Access Review
Theme Park Studio is a major step from RCT3 and NoLimits! A must have Theme Park building simulation tool. Aside from it being in early beta mode, it will grow on you like the previous games have! If you enjoy building and customizing your own parks, then this is what you need right here! If you have no skills in a modeling program, like sketchup, and always wanted to model, Theme Park Studio is a great tool designed for even the beginners of all ages! You can start from nothing in your park or use a preset of parks made from the developers. Also there are many presets of scenery such as trees, lighting, walls, and buildings.

Yes, shops, stalls, and rides are in 'static' mode for now, but they will be functioning when the full release comes out. But to learn how to use your controls and how to maneuver your objects is a must at first. Once you get the hang of it, it will be a breeze from there. Working with what we've got now will be a great start until we get more updated material!
