"I had no idea what to expect, but after a couple minutes with the game, I was lost to it. This shooter brought back memories of Smash TV and the countless hours that I had lost to it in my youth." Read the full review here.

About This Game

With the completion of the third title in the RIP series, the RIP games have become an instant classic in the arcade-shooter genre. RIP — Trilogy brings all three RIP titles into one exciting and heart-pounding pack.

RIP
Not afraid of Death? What if he is accompanied by Halloween and Rock-N-Roll? Play the part of these antiheroes and go to war in this all-out action experience! Each character has their own strengths and skills, but this is not a game for the faint of heart. With over 40 levels to RIP through, the results are murderous!

  • 40 levels of murder and mayhem
  • A variety of guns and battle magic
  • Three chilling characters
  • A toned-down, less violent kid's mode

RIP2 — Strike Back
Your favorite antiheroes are here to strike back with another score to settle. Death, Halloween and Rock-N-Roll...each character has his own strengths and skills, so pick one and start shooting. In Story Mode, you'll fight through 60 furious levels using an arsenal of upgradeable weapons, tanks, helicopters and turrets or for a quick adrenaline fix, play Rush Mode and see how long you can last.

  • Choose from a large arsenal of weapons
  • Assorted vehicles including gun turrets, tanks and helicopters
  • Variety of abilities and power-ups
  • 60 levels of unlimited gameplay
  • Huge boss levels for more challenge
  • Two modes of play; Rush Mode or Story Mode

RIP3 — The Last Hero
RIP3 — The Last Hero combines the dynamics of a hardcore shooter while preserving the elusive classic arcade appeal and never lets up on the intense action. Every level presents a new challenge, requiring you to not only prove your sharp-shooting, but to think and act tactically.

The terrain and environments must be employed to survive waves of adversaries, but since all in-game objects are destructible, you must think fast. Your hero will travel all over the world from the African jungle to the Arctic snow, through secret labs and bunkers, in the streets and skyscrapers of Metropolis city and also go into deep space using a hijacked spaceship.

  • 100 levels of arcade shooting action
  • 6 unique playable characters with varied and powerful skills to develop
  • A huge arsenal of destructive weaponry, each with 2 shooting modes
  • Capture and control military vehicles, including Tanks, Helicopters and Battle Turrets
  • Fully destructible battlefield - all the objects can be damaged and destroyed
  • Includes a space adventure minigame, where you pilot the Vostok-23 starship
  • 12 Huge, challenging bosses evoke classic arcade gameplay
  • 3 difficulty level settings to increase the intensity
  • Special bonuses and secrets are scattered throughout the game
  • Cooperative multiplayer for two players to battle against the enemy hordes
  • Multiplayer death-match for up to 6 players over LAN

Fun timewaster, especially good value on sale for $1 as you often find it.

Note that I had encountered a crash issue in middle of the 2nd game's campaign which kept me from progressing, but #1 and #3 worked ran fine.

This was also way back when on an XPx32 system, so your mileage may vary on modern OS'.

Play the third installment of RIP if you ever decide to pick this up.
You're not missing out on the first two.

This game is full of non-sensical gibberish where you can play either Death, the Super Devil or October 31st on a never ending struggle against...whatever cyborg fiction they're fighting against, I don't know, I'm still on the grammar for Super Devil, so I just shut my brain down for it's wondrous story going up against cyborg shotgun wielding Lycantropes, or at least that's what I saw in RIP 3's opening.

...what? My review doesn't make sense?
Neither does this game.

In any case, the game isn't entirely all that bad gameplay wise, but I did get this game in a bundle, so I'm just making use out of my $2.50.

I need a drink.

I can't understand all the negative reviews for this game. There is a free demo of this game. All I can do about guys screaming how bad this game tends to be, is to laugh about you being so m*therf*ck*ng stupid and / or having too much money, so you think you don't have to read the despricption and / or try the demo before buying. Do humanity a favour and please never make childs guys.

Anyway ... on to the review of this game:

This is a nice and mindless arcade style top-down shooter. It features nice graphics, enjoyable sound-effects and a stomping soundtrack.

You shouldn't expect anything from this game but aiming with your mouse and shooting. I mean LITERALLY THAT IS ALL THERE IS TO DO! You can't even move because in the first installment of the series as you are in sitting with your charakter in a tower that is fixed in the landscape of each level.

In the second and third part of the game you can even walk around, what makes the game maybe more enjoyable but it also makes it harder as the difficulty setting of the levels is risen up by adding even more enemies and a casual boss-fight here and there. Apart from that each game at heart is pretty much the same:

Each level consists of only one screen. There are rocks (that can be shot) and explosive barrels (that of course can be shot) and most of all there are hundreds of enemies (that should be shot) in each level coming at you in waveforms trying to get to you or to shoot at you to destroy you.

All you can do to prevent them from doing so is holding down your mousebutton and shoot like hell.

The game has three characters to choose from, each one plays a little different as each character has seperate tech-trees which can be upgraded by spending XP you get from killing enemies. Also from time to time there are cyber skeletons running around on the battlefield which when shot leave some extras behind, that once collected (by - you guessed it - shooting at them) can be anything from weapons, shields, smartbombs and so on, to give you a little advantage over the massive agressing hordes of enemies storming onwards.

This game is a lot of fun to me. I already owned it before steam was even there and if you enjoy the demo you might give it a try as you maybe will enjoy it too. Just don't expect anything from this game that it does not even promise or tend to be.

I bought all three installments of the series in a sale and you should most wisely do the same. Though the game offers a decent amount of replayability with it's different characters and difficulty settings, yet after all this years i think it's a little overpriced at it's normal price.

So for now I recommend you to try and play the demo until the next discount is on and then get the full version of the game !!!

If you're up for a fun, no-nonsense, classic style, old-school, twin-stick shooter with very straightforward bish-bash-bosh gameplay then you can do a lot worse.

The RIP Trilogy are basic shooter games. The first one is painful as you sit stationary, and have to shoot enemies as they approach from all directions. The second and third are twin stick shooters that are more comical than anything else. The second one is fair, but the third one is was incredibly easy until a train decided to derail and chase me, which was the most hillarious moment I had in the game. I died instantly, which was totally worth it.

If you like twin stick shooters, try Smash TV, Robotron, Hotline Miami, and just about anything else. After you tried them all, come check this out just for a good laugh.

RIP 1 is a decent hour of fun.

RIP 2 is crap, avoid entirely.

RIP 3 is the best of the bunch, with 6 characters with skill trees and crazy overpowered weapons to combat hordes of hundreds of enemies.

Play 3, skip the first two. Yes, they are glorified flash games, and you should not get them at the full asking price, but in a sale or in a bundle I'd recommend it if you want to waste some time killing hordes.

Overall score - 5.5/10 (Just about made it to positive)

Gameplay - 8/10 - Very fun and big on action. It doesn't have much to it. It's a great feeling if you win a level.
Graphics for its time - 4.5/10 - Not really advanced and mediocre doesn't have 1366x768. It has good artwork.
Story - 0/10 - There's none.
Worth the money? - Almost worth it. I definely recommend if it's less than £1.

This pack is great.

- RIP 1 = Good Tower Defense.
- RIP 2,3 = Better than RIP 1. It's like "Orcs Must Die" with low graphic.

I have no idea where the all the hate comes from, I mean, what do you expect, look at the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ screenshots or do some youtube research!!
The first "RIP" game is a very short and very ♥♥♥♥ty game, a turret-shooter with a playing time of 1 hour, insane difficulty changes from level to level and without any climatic structure whatsoever, terribly frustrating and once you are through you either cheated, played on lowest difficulty or tried way too hard for this lazy piece of 90s-software ♥♥♥♥ that I wouldn´t even recommend nowadays as an office break because there are flashgame with way better....everything!

RIP 2 is a decent top-down-shooter though, because you can finally move, decide from where and how to shoot on your own, the insane number of enemies and action on the screen provides a fun time for about 3 hours, and together with a lot of powerups, cool weapons, 6 bosses with nice little fights and different weapons/moves and...yeah, not tactics but at least "placed to shoot at", I can recommend it if you´re into this kind of genre, you get some updates and the soundtrack is ok.

And then, the main reason to buy this package may be the newest part, because RIP 3 is like an extended version of the second part and with 6 characters in total, alotta upgrades and weapons and enemies and vehicles and bosses, 100 levels for a decent time to finish the game, changing settings and so on it´s silly top-down-action fun and imho worth a few bucks. It tries to have a story of some sort, you can create different profiles, there is a multiplayer - even if noone plays it anymore - a loca co-op which is fun and can even be played via controller, you have nice drawings, a skill-tree, better upgrades and all in all it´s just a good game on it´s own, if you liked the second one you will LOVE this and if you didn´t you should still give a chance. So if this package is in sale as it was a few times before, then grab it and have you 8 or so hours fun with part 2 and 3, take the easy difficulty because 2 is kinda unfair and hard then and when and definetly skip the first part, but as long as you don´t pay more than like, 3 or 4 bucks it should be fine, I mean you know what you signed in for by just watching a few gameplay vids and back at their release time these games costed like 5 bucks EACH so this deal should be fine. Really looking forward to play part 3 again :) Mindless fun.

The RIP trilogy was simply fabulous. I would recommend Bad Rats to those who are liking the looks of this game as they are both great!

10/10

Now for the people who were born in the 21st century. This is a absolutely horrid game. Your money would be better spent on a twinkie. Especially since everyone loves twinkies. Seriously go buy yourself a twinkie. While your'e at it, buy a twinkie for the person who wrote this review. Thank you. Please, save your money otherwise, or give it to me for writing this great review! Go give your money to a homeless person. Go throw it at his face as hard as you can! You will have more fun throwing it at his face than playing this game. (Heat the change for extra entertainment).

P.S.

I love you <3.

They're pretty decent shooter games, if not original. In the first game, you're a stationary turret, while in the other 2 games, you can actually move around. All 3 games share the same premise: shoot at waves of enemies while collecting powerups and getting upgrades by leveling up. They're pretty nice diversions, but there are better shooters out there.
