Short review: Fallout meets State of Decay - buy it ;)
Dead State is all about the apocalypse feeling after a zombie disaster. You have to build your little shelter, gater other survivors and keep them alive as well as happy. At the same time there is a rough "bigger" story, which you can follow to different endings.
.,Exploration of the state, with random encounters and mostly different maps.
.,Fallout like character creation of your own survivor, including different skills/attributes and the improvements of these (including perks).
.,Many different weapons/armors and other equipments.
.,A great variety of survivor characters, which create a good part of the atmosphere, together with the radio DJ and the messages you can find throughout the game. But beware, some may work against you, they have their own personalities ;)
.,You can - up to a point - play an really evil style as well as a normal or even good and helpful guy.
.,Base building, weapon modding etc.
.,Combat - It mostly works fine as it is, but naturally could use some more options
.,The late middle game can drag a bit.
,. There could be more dialogues/interaction with the survivors, since it is one of the strongest parts of the game, i can´t get enough of it.
Not so good points:
., Not an optimal balancing.. zombies become kinda less dangerous, when you have better armor, same is with weapons - you won´t use most of the melee weapons. At least i don´t.
,. Still much room for improvement regarding the handling of your fellow survivors/items etc.
,. Many (mostly smaller) glitches still in the game (sometimes characters "float" or zombies stand on the same tile etc.).
Nothing gamebreaking though for me.
So, in the end, i have my fun with it, even if it´s still a bit rough on the edges. A very overlooked zombie rpg/strategy gem, which really didn´t deserve some of the negative review trolling it got.
Hope to see much more of this game!
