Not gone, but a lot has been going on (That Ryhmes...)

Hey everyone. I know it's been quite a some time since we have posted or patched the game.

It's been a very complex ride after the release, and I will go more into it in another post.

What I wanted to get out there was that we are still alive and we have not just abandoned you, but there were logistical things that had to take priority.

In my next post I will ellaberate on that more directly, as I can not at the moment. But to say the least, please bare with us.

About This Game

Suit up as an operative of the Ark Corporation, sent to the farthest reaches of the universe in search of habitable planets to terraform. However, after the long space journey you awaken from cryosleep to find that your ship has gone way off course and is disabled near a strange new world. With no choice but to descend to the surface and figure out how to survive long enough to complete your mission, you step into the escape pod.

Along the way you’ll gather resources to craft armor, weapons, facilities, and vehicles to help you explore the world and conquer its aggressive inhabitants. Your base of operations will evolve from a few basic facilities exposed to the elements into a hardened fortress full of advanced technologies that let you accomplish amazing improvements to your equipment and alter the environment itself.

Be careful, though; almost everything down there wants to kill you, including fierce laser space sharks, artillery-toting polar bears, wickedly quick jetpack penguins, and even crazier horrors. Out on the Edge of Space, you must adapt or you die. Good luck, ArkCo Operative!

Key Features

  • Open World Exploration– Dynamically-generated 2D sandbox set in the deepest recesses of space, explore randomly generated caverns, wormhole anomalies and dive deeper into the planet to discover valuable resources and other rare phenomenon.
  • Crazy Creatures – Hordes of enemies and epic bosses ranging from Artillabears, squid pandas, jetpack space penguins, and laser space sharks; not to mention epic bosses like DJ Penguin and Omegatron
  • Cooperative Exploration – Engrossing gameplay, built from the ground up, to support multiplayer focusing on cooperative exploration and combat with team-based tactics.
  • Advanced Crafting System - Using the power of science, craft advanced technology for weapons, gear and base constructions from basic resources
  • Loads of Armor – Ranging from stat boosting battle armor to quirky vanity costumes, craft armor to survive the changing environmental conditions and specialize in different aspects of mining, exploration, and combat.
  • Weapons – Create a wide-variety of dynamically generated weapons ranging from guided rocket launchers to Experimental Gauss Rifles and discover new advanced weaponry to expand your arsenal.
  • Research System – A new research system allows players more freedom to discover new areas of technology in exploration, combat, base building, and much more.
  • Command Center Management – Establish your central base of operation by creating the ultimate Command Center customized with defensive turrets, hangers and repair drones. Make improvements to protect yourself from the constant environmental changes like radiation storms and other anomalies.
  • PIOS (Power Input Output Systems) – A simple drag and drop tool, letting you design electrical systems as basic as powering a light or as complex as creating your own logic gates.
  • Pets – Create and collect pets that assist you on your epic exploration of space by granting defensive, offensive, or exploration perks.
  • Anomalies - Random world events both dangerous and helpful
  • Vehicles - Craft items from hover boards to massive mechs to safely explore the dangerous world

The most dissapointing part of this game is that theres proof that it's went to $41T, ingame if you click the steam rewards button, it would originally take you to a place to redeem codes for exclusive items (see hollow gear and greenlight helmet) now if you click that button you are taken to a "website for sell" domain, So, i originally left an unhelpful and stupid good review on this game, i've since deleted that review and this game from my pc. This game is far from finished and seems to be abandoned, though it is a good sandbox, and good for people who want to build, but I suggest starbound for better building. it's sad and such a shame that this game had so much potential and has since been seemingly abandoned even though the devs say it's not...I hope they're truthful as I'd like to see this game become more than it is. but i've had requests to update this review to be more helpful, thus pros and cons will follow:

+Questing system
+Story and Background
+Dungeons, Events, Etc.
+Npc's must be found around the world
+Unique fragmented world, and the further you drop the tougher it gets
+Unique and fun research/upgrade system
+Challenging, and fun pass time
+(to my recolection) you loose nothing upon death (maybe a few research points if that, correct if wrong)

-Seemingly Abandoned (the devs say it's not, I hope they're right, explained in comment)
-No more exclusive/event rewards (unknown if will return, see greenlight helmet and hollow armor)
-Quests can progress faster than you (power, level, distance wise, etc.)
-Sometimes a bit too challenging of right now, I can't think of any more

so untill this game is back to updating and no longer seems abandoned, this review will remain negative, (I would chose neutral or abstain if possible because this game can be fun sometimes)

Do not buy. I enjoyed playing with a friend back when it was in alpha (effectively, it still is) for a several hours, thinking it would get better, but we eventually quit due to the crippling bugs and multiplayer errors. It looked promising so it's a shame that it's been abandoned.

I repeat: DO NOT BUY this game or anything by the same company.

I cannot recommend this in good conscience. There are many aspects of this game that I enjoy (largely, the overall concept/game idea) but the fact that the devs have more or less abandoned the game makes the delays and/or broken aspects of the game many of us have dealt with for months/years rather frustrating. Things like the poor transition from biomes, the EXTREMELY poor hotbar usage, or the unfinished dungeons all add up to unfulfilled expectations. In the end, I want to recommend this game but too many broken promises (and yes, me being an EA adopter is my fault, I accept that) lead to caveat emptor at this point.

I playied the beta, I waited untill it got better. I played the horrorible 1.0 release that was still 60% complete (full of glitches, wrong item icons, wrong stats). I kept waiting to write the review, waiting for the updates that would give me a complete game and they never came. The game feels like grinding, boring endless repetitive grinding, the new materials feel like the old ones, the enemies are overwhelming some times and some times totally boring but the MOST irritating thing: It is FUKKING SLOW. I don't have a top of line computer, but it runs Fallout 4 on low graphics and fallout 3 on full. And it can NOT run this ♥♥♥♥ing game in a decent framerate. THIS IS A SIMPLES 2D GAME! It is absurd how lagged, with poor framerate the game feels. It does not make any sense. This and all the other critics you can freely read in the page. Would neve recomend. Go play terraria or starbound.

I really want to enjoy this game, sadly I cannot. There are many UI problems and the whole thing seems too archaic and clunky to operate. Even with the tutorial videos I find myself struggling with basic things that even checking the key-mappings don’t reveal. One such example is how do you change the orientation of an object you are placing? How do you make that bed face left instead of right? The entire game is frustrating in this respect.

The developers appear to have disappeared. Even the Handyman Studios website has long gone down.

Edge of Space is far from a finished product, yet it appears that the Devs pushed a 1.0 release, a few fixes post release, then abandoned the whole game.

Most disappointing, particularly as the game was sold with “Official Terraria” themed objects suggesting it would be a game of the same standard. It is not.

Thoroughly disappointing and in it’s current state I would have to say a very clear “DO NOT BUY”.

Sadly I would have to agree with the reviews to not buy this game, seemed pretty cool when it first went into early access but even now in its "finished' state it has barely changed. Progression sucks once you get to a point you pretty much cant progress at all anymore to see the later parts of the game.

Dear Eos,
its a shame, i really liked you. You are good lookin, too. I had hope your undeveloped side would slowly but steady patch to the point of real satisfaction. But you didnt care, you were only in it for my money. Like any relationship its not the looks that really matter.
Im with Terraria now, she knows how to run things. Also her multiplayer just simply works.
Get lost.

I just got this game, and so far I'm having alot of fun with it. It is kinda sad that the devs abandoned the game. Even still, I like this game, and I've had fun with it. Its a little hard to learn, I got confused about the building, and upgrading, but after a while, I figured it out. Again, I've had fun with this game.

So what to say about this game? Well quite honestly it looked like it had promise it really did, not necessarily something new but just a new spin on things we already had...That was a few months ago I thought this, as you can see I'm writing this in September and I've looked for some sort of notice from the group that made it and they've said nothing since April. Even if things are bad I would still try and at LEAST do monthly updates with your fans to let them know what the hell is going on. They said they would KEEP IN TOUCH back in April. It's September now. Don't waste your money on an unfinished product. Until they pull their fingers out of their a**es this is not worth anyone's time, free or otherwise.
