I feel this game has been somewhat harshly judged.

To keep it brief, I would recommend this game to big fans of the TMNT franchise and games.

All in all, it's a fun action "beat em up" type game.

When purchased, I expected to run around freely and to beat up some purple dragons or foot ninjas and I wasn't disappointed.

The Good:
Having all four brothers on-screen regardless of player number is major, providing much needed atmosphere that, for many TMNT games, was lacking if you were like me and didn't have enough friends interested in going to the arcade.
The dialogue is great, and goes even further to bring the atmosphere together.
The animations for the turtles are super, and so are their individual fighting styles. I certainly believe RedFly when they say they are TMNT fans, as it's evident in the care they took to make each turtle feel like an individual and contributing member of the group.
The classic arcade option allows some couch-coop, which is always a welcome bonus.

The Bad:
It's quite short. Now this game is $15 brand new, and I've seen $60 games offer less content, but it still doesn't feel like that epic turtle adventure that I'd have gladly paid $60 for.
There is a rather small assortment of enemies. This can be somewhat overlooked by the length of the game, but even just varying up textures would've made a difference.
Have I mentioned that it's short? Well, it doesn't quite get around to exploring enough of the adversaries that the turtles encounter in their usual adventures. In fact, we get to fight Karai twice, though to be fair, the first time isn't much of a boss fight. I remember one of the Dev Interviews saying something about planning some Casey Jones DLC at one point, but I'd be less surprised to get a Half-Life 3 confirmation than to hear another positive peep out of RedFly/Activision on this one.

The Ugly:
In many places it is possible to step outside or be forceably moved outside of the normal level boundaries. This didn't occur for me very often, but when it did, it was pretty frustrating.
The multiplayer is terribly broken, and by that, I mean that many people are unable to connect to others without means of a third party networking client, and even then only the host gets to keep their save data.
Here's the worst part. Remember all that energy and excitement that RedFly put into all the interview segments? The same excitement that had me ITCHING to tear into this game, and hopefully eventually chat with some of the devs because you could see that they were getting high on turtle power? Yeah, that all dried up and went the way of the dodo on launch day. We are left with a facebook page that doesn't really do anything but pass along less than helpful information, a less than satisfying page on Activision's website, and no real communication. We have received a patch that, among other things, removed the LAN option(it wasn't working anyway, but this was a bass-ackwards step) and aside from the poor PSN community who only recently got the game at all, we've received no further communication. The ball was severely dropped here, although it's hard to say if we should point fingers at RedFly or just assume Activision is being Activision and if it's not CoD it doesn't matter.

Do I recommend this game? My answer is complicated, because despite how absolutely broken the game is in many of its facets, I still had a good time with it. And while it has DEFINITELY made me skeptical of future RedFly releases, I hope that any TMNT fan can get past the issues with this game and have as much fun as I did. I recommend this game ONLY to fans of the TMNT, and even then, I strongly urge you to prepare yourself by reading the forums if you plan to attempt multiplayer, and reading other reviews. To the rest of you, I could never in good conscience recommend this game.

Pretty cool game.
- There is basicly no graphic settings, so if you have a pretty bad PC you probably wont be able to play it over 20 FPS.
5/10

this game was not what i expected. I expected this game to be cool and action packed. With killing ninjas left and right. What i got was the worst game ever. half the time your figuring out where to go and get lost for hours the other half your talking to yourself. The fighting is also really bad its akward. the combos are dumb and it feels akward and not fun

The controls for this game are a terrible joke, the camera pans in different directions and you have absolutely no control over it half the time. You may be able to "look around" from time to time, but it'll easily be redirected in combat, or when you get into areas where it forces you into one specific view point. Combat was somewhat boring, and very much a button-mash experience. Combos of click-click-click-other click weren't intuitive. Inventory was difficult to shuffle through in combat when you had more than a few items. Two types of shuriken, two bombs, and the specialty weapons all filling the same slot and only one key in one direction to alternate through meant I was generally ignoring most of my inventory. Ideally, one could set each turtle with a different item, but if I wanted to toss a bomb in one direction and eat a pizza before going to a specialty weapon (as an example), I'd be bouncing around endlessly. In most cases, I would have often preferred NOT having the other three turtles present throughout the game as they would get in the way. I had many experiences with them blocking doorways or alleys that forced me to switch to a different character in order to move beyond.

There's a point in the game where you're running an obstacle course. When your brothers fall behind, you'll get a puff from a smoke bomb that has the game replacing them next to you (this was my experience, at least). When trying to make it through the course, I would continually get smoke bombed and blockaded by another turtle. In this instance that one or two second stop meant failure, and became frustrating.

TMNT is a piece of my childhood that I love, and I've played the games as far back as NES/Gameboy. This one was a real let down in terms of performance. This could have been a fantastic sandbox, but the inability to even Jump let me know I probably wasn't going to enjoy the game. From the lackluster combat, poor camera, continual timer delays witholding zone progression, and being stuck within the geometry often, I couldn't continue playing the game.

No amount of nostalgia could win this for me. At best, I'd give it 4/10.

Just don't, you'll cry.

The controls suck, the feedback is sluggish and unimpactful, the camera is a travesty, The art style is almost as generic as the new Bay turtles film, and the fact that it is connected to the excellent Nickelodeon TMNT series is an insult.

The only thing in this game that makes it feel at all like the classic beat-em ups from the super nintendo is the arcade mode, which puts you in the proper camera angle for this type of game, but in order to unlock all the stages for arcade mode you have to go through the main campaign, so still no, not worth it.

Generally I really like this game - could easily be my favourite TMNT game along side the old arcade jamma cabinet title. I came across a few bugs (like making a character roll and it glitched me into a background area) but they maybe fixed by now because I've not come across them again.

It's important to add that Alt is your friend when pulling off moves. The training instructions neglect to acknowledge this vital key which you need for the special moves when playing with keyboard.

At first this game presented itself poorly, the actual story portion is very weak, only 4 chapters long and over in as little as 2 hours. Thankfully theres alot more to the game if your a achievement hunter :) Aswell as the story theres a survival challenge and also Donatellos own arcade machine!! Survival is pretty damn hard, gd luck with that, took me a gd few hrs to complete. The arcade isnt so difficult but has to be done in one sitting... taking anywhere between 2 n 3 hrs. If your into gaining all achievements, then ill definately recommend the game..... if not leave it alone

I really want to like this game. But I can't.

To begin with, why make a PC game where you can't navigate menus with a mouse? The controls aren't re-mapable. Special attack is mouse wheel scroll for some reason, and counter is 2 buttons. Combat ends up clunky, and fleetingly satisfying. The graphics are okay, but nearly every cutscene is poorly drawn comic-style images. If that's not a sign of a mediocre game, I don't know what is.

Maybe I'm spoiled by the Batman Arkham series, and I shouldn't have expected much for $15. But compare this to Deadpool: The Game, and I'll take Deadpool anyday. At least it was entertaining while you were mashing keys.

EDIT: For what it's worth, I didn't play any co-op. But there are 50+ games I'd ask my friends to play with me before this one.

There's no working online system for this game. Matchmaking does not work, and there is no way to connect to friends through steam or in-game. No console either so you cannot use a command to connect to an IP. Game is garbage on single player because the bots don't do ♥♥♥♥ and aren't fun to play with. Seriously Activision wtf...

Holy crap!
The dialogue when you are idle alone is worth the price of the game.

And the combat is really in-depth and fun... albeit a bit sluggish yet skateboardish/snappy at times. But, it works perfectly fine for me.

PS: And it's really awesome to have all 4 turtles fighting at once and together (but it does get a bit cluttered at times.) And yes, there is team attacks (and taunts/celebrations!)

Great bit of old skool action fun, the combat is quite similar to the recent Batman games, with block/dodge/counter opportunities being highlighted and a few different moves achieved mostly through hammering the same 1 or 2 buttons... nice to have the ability to switch between the different turtles, my fave was always michaelangelo back in the day, can't beat the nunchucks :)

Also cool is the Arcade mode, which is more like a classic side-scroller beat em up, though sadly it's not the arcade version from 20 years ago that had me hooked whenever going to the local 10-pin bowling joint as a teenager.

All good fun though! It doesnt have the gloss and amazing graphics of AAA games these days, but for a tenner, what do you expect!
