Free Empire Expansion

Our biggest expansion - Empire completely re-invents the gameplay - changing Kingdom Wars from a local city building game, into massive empire building simulation and greatly expanding the scope and length of the game. In Empire, players get to literally take over the world - commanding a huge military, political and economic empire that covers the entire game world - from the human Southmount Mountains to the desolate deserts of Brakental.

And, as has become our tradition, this expansion is once again absolutely free!

Free Arcana Expansion

The Arcana expansion introduces a new dimension to gameplay, adding magic to Dawn of Fantasy: Kingdom Wars and the world of Mythador. Arcana brings with it powerful wizards to recruit, earth-shattering spells to research and cast, towering Wizard Guild buildings to construct and much more.

The free Arcana expansion is just the latest addition to an ever growing game and is a way for the development team to give back to the community that has supported us over the years.

Free Siegeworks Expansion

This massive expansion greatly enhances the gameplay experience by putting a strong emphasis on expanding the game world twice over - adding sixteen new siege ready towns and variety of new units. In addition, Siegeworks introduces new Guild Alliances feature, completely redesigned combat and pathfinding control system.

And the best part this expansion is absolutely free! This is a way for us to give back to the community that has supported us over the years.

About the Game

Dawn of Fantasy: Kingdom Wars is the first full 3D MMORTS with real-time siege combat. Offering an evolving online environment, in which you will be gathering resources, constructing buildings and walls, directing your citizens, completing quests in the service of mighty nobles and fiendish rogues, and managing your economy - all within an online realm that grows, works, lives, and breathes even when you log off. All this is glorious 3d world with stunning level of detail and epic scale - with vibrant towns and thousand strong armies. And of-course let’s not forget the glorious siege battles all in real-time! Developed by Reverie World Studios, Dawn of Fantasy: Kingdom Wars is the result of several years of hard work by a new Toronto based studio, with members all over the world contributing in their spare time.

Innovative MMORTS Approach
  • Wage war with neighboring regions or complete countless hours of quests as you unveil the dark secrets of Terria while managing a persistent kingdom and economy with thousands of other players. Socialize, trade, forge alliances and - best of all - battle against other players across the world, defeat their armies, and burn their towns!
Multiple Games Modes
  • Two additional singleplayer modes - including open-ended World Conquest mode - Kingdom Wars, and content-packed single-player Skirmish mode with both Lay Siege and Castle Defense maps - guaranteed to satisfy players of various tastes and gameplay styles.
Stunning Siege Combat
  • User-friendly Siege-oriented gameplay adds a whole new dimension to the battlefield as you ram the enemy gate, scale the walls, and place automated defensive systems, such as: stone tippers, boiling oil, and wall-mounted catapults.
Three Distinct Races & Styles of Gameplay
  • Dawn of Fantasy features three distinct civilizations: Elves, Orcs and Men, presenting a unique approach to these iconic races with three distinct styles of gameplay. Each race is complete with its own lore, language, world region and terrain, dozens of distinct units and buildings, hundreds of unique technologies, and each even has a different approach to economy and building style.
Fully 3D Dynamic World Map
  • Travel the MMORTS world using a beautifully-designed 3D World Map featuring scale replicas of all the NPC strongholds, quest areas, and the player's homeland.
Original Base Building Approach
  • Each player’s Stronghold features hundreds of buildings that look and behave like a City-Simulation game, but without any micro-management, giving the player more time to spend on the battlefield. In addition each race offers a different approach to building strongholds.
Complex Economic Model with Corpse Looting
  • Combines the complexity of nearly a dozen gathering possibilities, different for each race, with automated simplicity, allowing players the options to micromanage their economy, or leave it to run itself in times of war.
Realistic Weather and Season Change
  • The gaming world comes alive as you build and battle during winter or summer months, as you push your armies through heavy rain or snow storms. Your economy significantly changes from summer to winter, when different strategic options are available during different times of day and severe weather makes certain units useless.

What the page doesn't actually tell you, something that I was stung by, is the presence of a real life cash shop in the game (where you can buy one of the strongest units in the game, dragons for instance, as well as various "pay-to-win" instances)

As such I would recommend some further research into this game before purchasing.

Edit: This may no longer be true as per my post on the comments section of this original post.

It's a great concept and the idea of the game is interesting, but don't expect to engange in many PvP battles, more so it's rare when someone tries to attack your castle, which hasn't happened yet.

Your Troops fight in a squad and can actually level up and you get to chose from several different strenghs, such as how hard they hit and how much damange they can take. If you loose a sqaud of high level soilders it's not the end of the world but you feel bad.

The game is almost too slow to start, but after 5-6 hours you start to see the gold coming in. You might have read it's "pay to win". You can spend cash for crowns which buy's you the special units or upgrades, yet after you get established it's easy to build a bank of crowns. Your gold even starts to overflow to the point where a good portion of the time your lugging your troops around from town to town selling goods.

Whatever race you chose to play isn't a total lock, you can still buy units from the other races. One of the key factors is collecting your loot off of dead bodies, I strongly recomand getting Female Wardens from the elf race because you can simply select their duty to collect loot and they do it fast compared to human peasents.

The AI isn't great. They are going to attack is how they are going to attack. Generally they don't engage you till you engage them. If they try to flank it's a pre-determined before the game even starts. The AI doesn't adjust to the battlefield and what is going on. The AI will flank when basically you already broke the line.

Archers and Crossbow men are generally a strong staple of castle RTS'. They aren't effective. When you see 60-80 Archers on a castle ridge after a few times it doesn't make you turn your soilders around.

The big draw back besides the lack of PvP fights, which when they do happen are very laggy is the overall Missions of the game. Basically it's fighting a small group of soilders, or laying into a castle. Most of the missions are putting down rebel armies of peasents.

The developer has been putting out patches, but the game isn't new, so I'm not sure what the future holds in stock. If they make a second one, I think they will get the game right.

I enjoyed my time with the game, but with no real challange and a weak storyline that actually may not have a ending , it's hard to say "Yes" or "No" to the game. However, if your looking to play a RTS game and can't find one I would give it a shot, it did provide me several hours of gaming.

Graphics issues, and you have to sign up with another website to play it. It used to be a "pay to win" game, but they changed that.

** Developers removed the buying of premium currency in the last patch. now it is only availble through quests.**

Game plays similar to total war. Are a few bugs that tend to occur with each patch that take time to get fixed.
The multiplayer and persitant aspect of DoF adds a new and more refreshing element into the genre. Managing your kingdom is just as fun as battling players and NPCs.

Take time to compare the negative and positive reviews. Take game time played into consideration.
It took me a good 4 hours before I finally got hooked. That time was spent learning the ins and outs of the game due to me not having played strategy games in eons.

Is it the perfect game? no.

Is it a fun game? Yes.

Should you buy it? Yes, especially since it is always on sale it seems.

Not a "jewel of the nile" kind of game, but I really enjoyed to play it and I recomend it.

The game have now 2 free "expansions". Still getting periodic patches and the support is active and helpful.

Some people will say "pay to win", but I never spend a penny on "shop" and got my moments on the game. In the last patch, they removed the "shop cash", so no more complains about this.

4/5 If you are not a hardcore/graphic/strategy/annoying kind of player.

PS. Sorry for my poor english skills.
