In this game you can control nature but you can't control people.
You manipulate nature through Gigants, sort of elemental semi gods. They have different abilites for terraforming and controlling natural resources. The Gigants can use their abilities in different combinations in order to increase richness and help populations grow and get more resources.

If enough resources are left on an unclaimed area, a new tribe will settle, as the villages grow, humans will start different projects and your challenge is to help them complete those projects. As a reward for helping them, they will give an ambassador for each project completed. The ambassador can join a specific Gigant, giving them new powers or improving their old ones. People will continue starting bigger and bigger projects, raising the challenge level quite fast. Each project will require different types of resources and your goal is to help them get what they need from nature. Eventually, the different settlements will start competing for space and resources, they will fight and die to each other and even attack the gigants if they are greedy enough.

The mechanics are simple. The game is easy to learn but the dificulty raises before you know it. Your decisions will profoundly affect the world so one miscalculation can mean the ruin for you and your villages.
The tutorial teaches you all you need to know (it is basically letting you play a normal game with assistance texts) You can pause the game to think and even give your gigants orders during pauses. Also you can save at any point in case you need to backtrack your steps.

An experience I definitely enjoyed and would recommend to anyone. Weather you are looking for new game styles, are into indie gems or simply want a fun way to spend your time, consider giving this one a try.

ATENTION ABBEY GAMES!!! This is a realy cool sandbox game and I really like it and have been playing it since I was only 7, and over the past few years I have been seeing reviews and conversations of people saying that there's one thing that would make the game realy cooler. Here's my, and everyone else's opinion, REWARDS. We suggest that for every era a person completes they earn a new giant, for instance, after you finish the first era you earn THE FROST GIANT. A giant that can creat frozen tundras, polar bears, peinguins, walrus's, pine trees, and more! Once you finish the second era, you gain the MAGMA GIANT. A giant that is similar to the rock god, and can only place a biome by going onto a mountain that the rock giant built and transforming it into a volcano. It will create vulture nests, new ores, and more! So thank you for listening and if you don't like our idas you can change something. =)

Gameplay is a little slower than it looks in the demo videos.
Once you alter the planet you're done. Levels are quick.
It's cool though, I am glad to have it and will play again.

I personally had my fun for 50 hours, but when I tried to complete it, it kinda got annoying, because you have to play it in a very specific way to get some of the achievements, which also unlock new stuff for you to built.

Still, the 50 hours are worth it, I think.

A beautiful game. Emphasis is on the world that you create and improving it for those who choose to live there. I recommend it on the art style more than anything, which I can only describe as enchanting. If you're a fan of solely action-oriented games, I'd steer more clear of this one.

I've wanted to play this game for a long time. After it first showed up as playing on Mac OS, I gave it a try, but it was apparently still in beta. I waited a couple of years. Now it does run, but the performence is absolutly terrible. There aren't a lot of quality options, but running at the lowest resolution, and without vsync or antialiasing, it is still unplayable on my machine. As in, I have to click multiple times to get even a single click to register. Unfortionatly, games developed with XNA/.NET are very difficult to port…

I did make it through the tutorial, and started a new game in the hopes that it was the tutorial scripting that was bogging things down, but it's just not going to happen. I would reccomend the game based on my limited experience, but it's a reccomendation with reservations (obviously, I have no idea what the end game is like!).

Interesting Godus feeling game, not sure how all the systems tie together as the lack of helpful overview on what effects what else is a real issue. However, if you can find this for a dollar or two, pick it up.

Have been playing this game for a while after seeing it on a YouTube video. When it came on sale, I thought I would give it a try.

There is a tutorial that explains the game in a short hand version. Although you will need to try different combinations of plant, animal and minerals to get the best combinations. Completing projects for the villages will help you unlock other types of plants, animals and minerals. Of which there is quite a bit.

The game can become a tedious and repetitive in the beginning, when you still need to learn the different combinations. The time in the begining rounds is also quite limited until you get to the second level and you have 60 minutes in which you have to complete the different projects. On the third level you get 120 minutes per game. (Still need to get there)

There is also a freeplay option, but this will not allow you to unlock anything or get any of the achievements. I would only use this when I have unlocked everything.

Overall I like this game. The graphics is nice and the UI is quite easy to use. I will recommend this game if you like to think a bit, specially when it comes to getting the best combination of plant, animal and mineral.

This is God management game is like a rogue-lite game almost.

You start the game with your titans and you shapeo the world, then you shape where the humans start and then they shape your deicions and you try to be the most efficient planet. You can shapoe your humans choises and actions throughout the gme but ultimately you react to them, kinda.
And then we have the rogue-lite aspect, things CAN get screwed up for you, but when you play you meet challenges and those unluck animals, plants and so on for all the next games etc which will make things easier to handle, or more complex.

I like this challenge kinda god like game a lot. Just pick a time, go for it and see how far you can get, or go for certain unlocks, and just keep doing this. It's kinda like Bidning of Isaac but in a mangement setting.
Thumbs up!

In Reus, you start out with an empty planet, and four god-like giants who control the oceans, forests, mountains, and swamps. As you shape the planet's surface with biomes and resources, humans begin to build towns and monuments to your giants.

To help your new humans thrive, you create resources such as plants, animals, and minerals that provide either food, tech, wealth, or danger. Your human settlements will grow as you provide for them, creating ever more elaborate monuments to you, and possibly becoming greedy. Greed, if left unchecked, will lead to war between your villages.

Reus is a very simple game to play, but very difficult to master. If you enjoy strategy sims and micromanagement, then Reus will provide hours of entertainment.

Really innovative and fun little strategy game here. A lot more depth to the resource management system than I initially expected. Best three bucks Ive spent in ages (Yay Steam sales!). Heck, I enjoyed it enough to write this review, and I'm usually way too lazy to review anything.

Really fun

When i first saw this game it looked like the best god game ever
i spent some time thinking should i get this game
some negative reviews put me off
i then bought it
it was fun at first then i got a bit worried as the deadline for refund was coming close
i thought about the stuff i already saw
and thought it wasnt worth the money so i getting a refund
during that i thought why not play another 30 min game cuz why not
i then saw the full pottential of this game
this isnt an epic god game where you can feel the true power of being omnipotent
this is a peaceful game of balancing out the tiny humans needs and helping them prosper and the thing that defines as as humans greed and our relentless fight to survive and prosper even if it means harming the ones around us
you have 4 giants
ocean ,forest , mountain and swamp giants all of them create the diffrent biomes of the world oceans forests deserts swamps mountains
you create plants mineral and animals to help humans in building projects which help them even more and also give you ambassodors for you that make you stronger
achievements in the game are called devolpment and arent there for just show and looks completeing acheivements rewards you with bonuses in game and get you closer to the next level where you unlock the potential for new natural sources and abilites and mechanics

Pros
A lot of interaction between the humans and the world (in the idea of them affecting each other)
The art is nice and fits the game well
Can play short games and long games (have to unlock longer games though)
The giants are mortal and can be destroyed by the humans
Giants can retaliate back against the humans even destroying them
Humans will wage war against each other

Cons
Not enough diffrence with war in game just same thing over and over again
Humans dont interact with other tribes at all unless they waging war
There isnt much interaction with the giants apart from ambassodors
Other stuff i cant think of right now

I reccomend this game to anyone who likes their games a bit slower and not all the time aggression

It is a tough call not to recommend this game, it is well thought-out and a clever use of elements and game play. It is largely a 'spinning plates' affair where you have to keep track of a lot of individual and interacting elements to make the most out of each play through. Mostly this game amounts to nothing more than Achievement hunting, but if that is your thing, maybe you will like it more that I did. For me it was cute for a time, but I quickly got bored with it.

The only significant problem, even for Achievement hunters, is there is no in-game upgrade tree or information menu. Efficent planning is essential to acquiring whichever goal you are hunting, having to plant and re-plant resources hunting for that one you couldn't quite remember how to get, is time wasting and frustrating.

A simple menu option that allows you to check the upgrade steps for any resource you have unlocked isn't exactly a big ask. The fact they seem to expect you to remember the variations for a dozen different resources that have different, branching upgrade paths depending on which of the four different elements they can be placed in, seems like a bit much for what is, at its core, a casual game.

Looked nice at first. As an old Populous guy (Black & White was completely different and incomparable), I was very excited when this finally came out.

After a 2 hour playthrough, I seriously got bored. There was not enough depth, and overall the formula for winning was always somewhat obvious (and linear).

I didn't quite expect the "quick run" concept in this game and thought more in terms of playing a world and developing it for hours end (think 4X games like Civ or city simulation games).

It wasn't for me it appears. Too bad, because otherwise I would probably have enjoyed it with its cutesy graphics.

Reus is different from the games I normally play, a god game in which you fill the world with plants, animals, and minerals, nurturing human civilization so that it can thrive and advance. The game is simple to play and achieve some of the basic milestones, but is deep enough that it will keep you busy for quite a while if you decide to attempt the more difficult challenges. You will always have different methods available for generating the resources that the human settlements need to prosper, and different ways to keep the greed that these newfound riches create in check. There is almost always more than one path to victory, whatever it is you decide victory means in a given game.

Reus is everything you could ask for in an indy game: it is inexpensive, flavorful, fun, and will provide hours of enjoyment.

Great game. I really like the reversal from building, to suppling the materials to build. It's a nice little change and role change for this type of game. I have only small amount of hours in and I still find the achievements difficult and fun to advance further.

Out of the oh-so few hours I have played this game, I have found it a truly amazing experience, in which in has so much replay value, I doubt I will be able to stop playing this game for hours on end, as I really enjoy this game, you can see the dev's obviously put blood, sweat and tears into this game, I would rate this game a 9/10, sincerely because of the replay value. Every time you play it you will have different and unexpected outcomes, and there is probably mods for this game which will TRULY change it everytime.

Do I recommend it? Hell yeah.
