I enjoy this game. Its a fun game to play on your tv with a game pad. The music is very nice and I enjoyed listeaning to it while I played. I would not recommend with keyboard, however it has very good controller support and works well with xbox and 3rd party gamepads.

The gameplay and mechanics are boring, while the graphics and sounds do not add to the experience in any way. The game also suffers from some poorly implemented design choices concerning the visibility of enemy bullets.

Very good Arcade Shooter. It is not easy, but also not insanely hardcore difficult. Important thing is to understand that at the start of the game you will have 2 continues and 1 shield... and my bet is your reaction will be like mines (WTF are they insane? o_O) but as it turns out you will earn more continues and shield for your scores. It means you will be repeating many levels over and over but as it may sound boring, it isn't. After every time you will repeat a level you will learn how to make it through it with minimum harm and you will feel wild satisfaction when you will finish a level without getting hit even once.

The graphics are simple but they look great still, the blasts and projectiles look very nice and you screen is filled with explosions and other stuff it can look amazing sometimes. Like I said it is difficult, but not impossible to beat, game and if you are a gamer who can turn his frustration into motivation, then this game will give you a good couple of hours of pure joy and mayhem along with delightful pride as you will notice how better and better you get every time you repear a level and finish it with a better score.

I am not a hardcore fan of this type of games, and the fact that it got me hooked proves how hell of a good game this is.

6/10, Ether Vapor is a pretty good little SHMUP that I still consider to be very enjoyable despite its problems.

GOOD

The weapons are all basic, yet very useful. Each weapon also has a charge part to it. Making the weapon system a bit like a combination of R-type and Radiant Silvergun. The unlockable ships all have variations on the same weapon types but still manage to be useful. Movement feels great and bullets are abundant enough that you feel there's enough going on without being too overwelmed. In this regard the game isn't really considered a Bullet hell.

BAD

Unfortunately there are quite a few problems with the game as a whole. The scoring system is something that I think could have used some more work to make it more interesting for Super plays. And another problem is the graphics... No. The quality isn't bad. The issue stems from identifying bullets admist the chaos and knowing what can and can't hurt you. In most SHMUPs enemy bullets are on the highest layer and are typically a bright colour that you can identify easier. Some bullets that aren't of the pink ball variety tends to blend in with the explosions and your own bullets. Leading to moments where you question what just hit you. The story is there but nothing too special. I watched the cutscenes once then turned them off personally.

Ether Vapor is an entertaining Shoot'em Up that plays a lot with perspective, which can be confusing at times. The presentation is fantastic, as is the soundtrack, but the story is rather lackluster and could as well be skipped. It might have good ideas, but they can never develop in the half hour that a full playthrough takes.

But before you get to the end you'll have to amass more credits and shields, which means you have to replay the same levels over and over again. I personally dislike stretching a short game like that, but I'm not exactly a fan of SHMUPs.

An unexpectedly fun SHMUP. Has everything you want in the genre. Cool weapons, cool music, responsive controls, and explosions.

Great reimagining of a classic genre of game. Its level pacing is tense,fast-paced, with few, but very much appreciated, bonus modes in the middle of the levels to give you a brief respite from the frantic action. The game switches between different perspective approaches depending on area, giving you more than one style of play to keep things interesting, including side scrolling, top-down, and the thankfully brief "over the shoulder" forward-facing views. The challenge of the levels scales fairly fast, with the all too easy first level and its way too easy boss, the second with slightly more compentent enemies and a more challenging boss, and with the third level , things start to get progressively more insane, As you play the game, you unlock more continues and more shield points to take you further into the game.

After about 8 hours of repeat playing to get a full initial shield bar I beat the final boss. so the game is kinda short, possibly shorter for players more familiar with the genre, but does offer decent replay value in the form of online score boards and unlocks, This game might not seem as good a value in gameplay hours as some other games, but definitely worth buying anyway with how fun and challenging it is. Its great for when you only have time for a really quick gaming session.

Why is this a negative review?
It's negative because despite being pretty and having a decent system set up, they violated the rules of shooters.
They put the showy and cinimatic experience over the gameplay. Bullets are invisible half the time due to them being behind pretty much EVERY layer of the game screen, meaning you will not see them through explosions, enemy ships or even enemy ship exhaust. Everything shows up before the bullets, which means you will get hit by things that never had a chance to register as a threat.

Lo Bueno
-Acción al estilo arcade, tipo Aero Figher.
-Se puede jugar de a 2.
-Escenas cortas.

If only that central processing boss don't skew my angle of view so badly, I think I would not died so easily from its beam of lasers!

*And then I come back with an addition of shields and continues...

A decent shmups on steam. If you've already own ikaruga/james town/ exceed then get this. The gameplay is pretty basic, no power up or complicated scoring system. You get 3 bulltet types that can be switch on the fly and charged up, there're ships and modes to unlock as you play more of the game. Control is responsive and visual is decent. My one complain is that the bullets/enemies somtimes can get really crowded and hard to see leading to many deaths. It's not a bullet hell so don't come in expecting insane bullets pattern and crazy precise hitbox.

The game is fun to play in quick burst and it's pretty generous with giving you more credits and shield as you play.
