Why Early Access?

“Defying Fate is a game I have developed by myself, as a one-man team. As a one person operation, it can be challenging to successfully determine how to optimize the funness of the entire game, and so I am looking for as much player feedback as possible to help me make Defying Fate into a game we can all enjoy! I am a student working part-time to build this passion project (and on a frighteningly small budget at that), so while I plan to complete Defying Fate regardless of its Early Access success, a successful campaign could provide me with more resources to help make this game even better (and potentially bring it to full release more quickly)!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I'm not entirely sure when Defying Fate will be ready for a full release, but it will be released when I feel that the base feature set is complete. I would estimate that this goal should be met by the end of 2022, though that may change as development progresses.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I plan on creating 14-31 levels total, which will collectively feature many locations throughout the galaxy. I plan to populate Defying Fate's levels with a variety of unique enemies, bosses and all of their associated equipment. I also plan on writing a story to accompany the game, and to tell it via mission briefs before each level. Items will be continuously rebalanced until the full release.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently, the game includes seven full levels, including three boss fights. There are also 48 collectable items, among which are a variety of weapons, ships, thrusters, reactors and shields. I have spent time rebalancing the game's base mechanics rather than creating numerous levels immediately.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will rise as the game gains more content and gets closer to completion.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I am looking for community feedback to help me make the greatest game that I can. I will consider any suggestions sent my way, no matter how wild. About This Game

Since the dawn of interstellar travel, humanity has dominated the universe. But all things must come to an end, the universe included. Some look to the gods for solace at the end of time, but even they can offer no peace. Only the most stubborn would attempt to evade such a cataclysmic demise, and you happen to be one of them. Travel the galaxy, destroying anything and anyone that might get in the way of your survival. Customize your ship to give you a fighting chance to annihilate threats like aliens, robots and even the gods.

– Unforgiving levels
– All enemy equipment is obtainable. That means ships, weapons, thrusters, reactors AND shields. Collect them all!
– A variety of planets, stars and other celestial objects
