Why Early Access?

“Apsis Online has been developed and distributed as freeware for over almost a decade of its development from a custom-built singleplayer game into what we are calling a "multi-user roguelike". While the game is playable with interactable npcs, exploration and combat present. It's also the catalyst for a much richer experience: like deeper interactions, procedurally generated and player-driven stories that you could be a a part of.”

“This game is expected to be in early access for up to one (1) year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Our plan is to emphasize PvP ship combat and more significant interactions in orbit as well as in settlements on planets.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Playable, although restricted to the very first planet the player is introduced to. There are lot's of baseline features from waking up aboard your ship, equipping weapons and exploring the planet below - and possibly having an negative or positive encounters with NPCs. All of whom utilize a contextual conversation engine so that players can gain a deeper sense of where they are and why.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“It is likely that there will be an eventual price increase up to 25% of what it is today.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“In addition to the in-game message board, Discord and Steam Community we intend to continue a trend of transparent updates open to input from all players.”

About This Game

The stasis chamber hisses softly around you. Artificial fluids built up inside your ears begin to retreat as the cryoplasm drains slowly. Breathing comes naturally, at first. And then the tickle of a hundred nanites filtering your oxygen forces a cough or two of surprise. Beneath new skin, a fresh infusion of blood pulses with the cadence of tribal drums. Your thoughts cascade and it all makes sense again. You open your eyes to the dull interior of a starship.

You are a voyager. A human, mentally and physically augmented for life in deep space. Your mission is to carve out a place for humanity among the stars. Whatever that may be. Build on and explore persistent worlds that respond to what each player does to create a shared story.



Weak governments and social upheaval has ushered in an age of dystopianism. A world in which monopolistic corporations make the rules. Having normalized space travel with advancements in genetic engineering and propulsion, humanity set out to champion the frontier in hopes of discovering a new purpose. Meet new people from within the speckled void. Enjoy the imaginative flexibility of a true multi-color text user interface. It will run on almost anything! Only a keyboard and some duct tape are required to play.
