port royale 2 is a fantastic game for its price, its insanely addictive and always fun to play. though the game is very deep and very time comsuming, so if you dont like slow-paced games this game may not be for you. but i recommend trying it no matter what, its price is amazing and even if you dont like it, then thats not alot of money wasted on a game you dont like. 8/10

Unless you have a lot of patience and enthusaism for playing repetitive economic simulation and managing accounts, you will find this game extremely boring, as I have. A few things it has going for it include a dynamic economic system and good ship customization, but it's fundamentally not a very action-packed game.

If you want a more exciting game based around piracy in the Caribbean, try "Sid Meier's Pirates!"

"8/10" According to My Own Rating.

It's a bet. The game is fun, but it's an old game and there's the chance you won't be able to get it to run. Not recommended if don't like to risk losing money.

It took me a few hours until I managed to get it to run on my computer. Most forum posts said I'd have to rollback my video driver to an older version. I didn't. I downloaded the latest catalyst control center installer and replaced mine and the game works fine now.

The game is fun if you like the style, which is not something everyone will enjoy.

The gameplay is something like (although not limited to) being a merchant to get rich, setting up a fleet to fight pirates or become a privateer and maybe get your own city, getting married to have your wife run away with any captain/adventurer that crosses her path and spend a few months getting her back so she can be kidnapped or run away again.

I had lots of fun starting the game as an English trader and bullying the French. It's awesome when you realize you stole more than half their ships as a privateer and they still love you because you own most of the buildings in their towns and are responsible for most of the trading.

However, I was disappointed for not finding an option to raise a black flag and be a pirate and create my own hideout.

Make sure you watch gameplay videos before you buy. And don't forget it's a bet. There's a chance you'll just lose your money instead of enjoying the gameplay you watched.

Game fails to open up into 'applications', it only goes as far as opening up into 'processes', so the game is broken...
