What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“When we first built Story Time, the goal was to get our stories out to the world but it didn't seem right not to include an editor so that you, the player/writer, can get a chance to tell your stories as well! Early Access is our way of getting the tools to you before the game is content and feature complete so that we can incorporate feedback into how things are shaped for the final launch.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We anticipate 3-6 months of Early Access in order to polish every feature as best we can and to continue adding content (for our stories or your own.)”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“There are a lot of features that would be nice to have like adding a dictionary and spell checking support, possible support for other languages, and making things even easier to edit and share. The goal is to make stories shareable through Steam Workshop support and additional story content will be added to the main game. It's also important to us that things are accessible. Therefore, making sure that the application can pass the information to screen readers will also be a focus.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current game includes the first 10 images and story clips of "Life in the Uintah Basin," a story which takes place in 1890's Fort Duchesne where the US Army and Cavalry are attempting to build a fort while keeping the nearby native tribes and new settlers out of as much trouble as possible. This tale, inspired by true events, tracks stats (angry-friendly, sneaky-brash) in order to tailor the story to the choices you make. Additionally, there is a Halloween tale called Trick or Treat! which gives you the chance to go virtually door to door and collect candy and meet some crazy characters!

The editor lets you change these stories or create your own! Choose images, set a color scheme, and craft your tale while tracking stats or collecting items. You choose where the user adds their own flair, either with entries that are kept and re-used (such as your best friend's name) or ones that show up for a single story clip (noun, adjective, verb, number...) to add variety every time the story is played!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We intend to raise the price after Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Use the editor. Play the stories. Break the game in new ways! We want to hear what's working and what isn't for how you'd like to use Story Time Plus. We'll keep a close eye on our Steam Discussion board so hop in and help us make STP the best it can be!”
