  • Fixed an issue with only one Action Result being displayed (despite many potentially landing).

  • Fixed an issue with selections when switching modes in the Map Editor.

Hey Folks!

I have been combing through looking for more ways to increase the game's communication with players. To support that goal, the Portal now has more to say. Since the event log is now being used for more details, when the scoreboard is visible, the middle mouse wheel scrolls the log window.

Bug Fixes:

- Gaps in the floor tiles have been filled

- Longer delay in game mode to start the match allowing for client catch up

- More reliable trap colors on clients

- Twitch now is toggled on and off

- Portals will report the number of crystals required

- Contact with monsters appropriately hurts before initial trap injury

- Loading screen widget anchors have been adjusted to center for wide screens

- Power-Up locations are brighter

DEVIL'S LIMINAL - Studio Interlude

Compared to last month, October has been much quieter with a smaller update as I had some more classes and exams to study for. My wife helped a LOT with this update, bringing some new character sprites and text options!

Early Access v0.5 Changelog
  • Added in-game days August 2nd to August 4th.

    • This includes a pass on story branches, conditions, writing, backgrounds, music, and voice adlibs.

  • Added new font and color options for the text

    • Can now choose between the default pixel sanserif font, a dyslexia-friendly font, or a serif font.

    • Can change the text, text outline, and background to be any greyscale.

  • Adjusted the requirements for Clara's route, so it should be easier to start.

    • Slightly less affection needed to trigger some events.

    • Reworded June 26th conversation with Nikki to mention Clara more.

    • Reworded June 26th option to better reflect the state of Clara and Margo's relationship at that point.

  • 2 new first pass versions of sprites: Karina and Alejandra.

  • 2 new background: 1 dream with animation, 1 island memory

  • Adjustments to Clara's sprite.

    • Pajamas now includes a bonnet.

    • Fixed her arm when sitting

  • Bug fixes.

    • July 4th: Removed some excess lines from the Bec confession.

    • July 6th: Fixed dating conditions and responses during Gina conversation.

🎨 Meet the Three New Faces (and One Missing Some Hair)

Today’s devlog is all about people - or, more precisely, three new characters we’ve recently brought to life in 3D. They don’t have names or jobs yet, but hey, everyone has to start somewhere!



From Polygons to Personalities
Creating NPCs is a multi-step journey: sculpting in 3D, texturing, hair & beard simulations, and importing everything into Unity without breaking the universe.



We use a mix of tools for the process - Blender, Substance, and a sprinkle of Unity magic. Sometimes the characters come out perfect. Other times… they come out bald.

The Case of the Balding NPC
One of our new residents started with a full head of glorious hair. Then, somewhere between Blender and Unity, half of it just… vanished. We’re calling it “early access hair loss.” Don’t worry - it’s not contagious to other characters!



No Jobs Yet, Just Vibes
At this point, these three NPCs don’t have specific roles in the town. They’re just hanging around, enjoying small-town life, waiting for their assignments.



Next step: giving these folks something to do. Maybe one becomes a trader, another a blacksmith, and the balding guy? Probably the barber. Seems fair ;)

• Almost all species/personalities now have a chance to become Enraged when damaged
• Shell skins are now properly memorised
• Added colour sprites for ~349 out of 400 items

WHAT'S FIXED
• Home relation screen oddities:
• Potential game crash from Away/Work icons not showing on missing party members
• Away conditions not being reset for the visitor when the Active Reverian is missing
• Colour sprite oddities:
• Adult/Handler Merciren's jaw lacking the proper colouring in multiple frames, as well as stray pixels and colour bleeding
• Adult/Child Alt B Valzaios having uncoloured teeth
• Adult/Handler male Meicynia having stray pixels on their Battle frame
• Primordial ability and weather (de)buffs not always activating during battles

Hi everyone,

A quick update from me. I had to hit pause for a while, but... I’m building again.

I’m sorry for the delay and for keeping the release window open-ended. I don’t want to pin a date and then crunch or cut corners. I’d rather ship something I’m proud of than rush it just to meet a deadline.

  • Updates here on Steam: progress notes, screenshots, and tiny clips (or just a release).

  • A release date once I’m confident the core is solid and fun.
