Futariuum's Gate - gloomywasher

Hey everyone!

This week brought a ton of visual and gameplay progress across several areas of Futariuum’s Gate.

Nethuum kicked things off by completing the sketch and final lineart for the new background—The Library, which will appear during Brianna’s introduction. The next step will be moving on to the coloring phase. He also finished the design for the new “Events” screen, a roguelike-inspired mechanic we’ve been planning for a while. This feature will add more unpredictability, strategy, and rewards to dungeon runs, making each playthrough feel unique and challenging.

Nethuum also redesigned and completed the new Reputation Bar, which will appear next to Maya’s energy bar. The updated design better represents the purpose of this stat while visually matching the recently reworked dungeon interface.

In addition, he finished the “Choose Your Experience” screen, which lets players choose how they want to start their adventure: either by playing through the full intro and tutorial, following the story and learning the basics, or by skipping straight to free exploration, allowing access to dungeons, Sphere events, and side quests from the start. This is one of the most significant new features, giving players full control over how they experience the game.

He also organized the portrait layers for Brianna, preparing them for the upcoming facial expression variants, which require a clear and well-structured setup for smooth implementation later. On top of that, Nethuum designed the summary icon for the Dungeon Selection screen, which helps players easily identify each room type and plan their path strategically.

Meanwhile, AB implemented the Events screen into the new dungeon system, making it fully functional and compatible with the latest mechanics. She also added the first placeholder event to the system, which might be adjusted in the final version, and integrated Chime’s shop into the new dungeon framework.

Lastly, our writer has been reworking the early Belial scene, improving dialogue flow and pacing to make it more engaging and polished.

To wrap up the week, Nethuum updated the art asset list for the upcoming v0.60 update, providing the team with a clearer roadmap to keep everything on schedule for release.

Inquisitors - The next Community Challenge is upon you! Beginning October 24, the team behind HexWind has created a challenge that is truly unique and something that’s never been done in a VR game before

Mekarion is reborn! Stronger, more cunning and with vast amounts of health.

To complete the HexWind Halloween Community Challenge, Inquisitors must defeat Mekarion. This will be no easy feat as he will not be taken down in a single battle, it will take many.

Mekarion is so incredibly powerful that the community must come together, each battling the boss many times to chip away at their health. If the community is able to defeat Mekarion within the challenge period, they will earn a new exclusive wand - the Dreadmaw!


HOW DO I PARTICIPATE IN THE HALLOWEEN COMMUNITY CHALLENGE

The goal of the challenge is to defeat Mekarion but this will not be achieved in a single battle! Starting October 24, players will have 10 days to fully deplete his health. This means that players will need to battle him multiple times. With the combined might of the Inquisitors, Mekarion will fall!

This challenge is essentially a brand new game mode we’ve added to HexWind. To battle Mekarion, also referred to as a “Challenge Encounter”, head over to the new statue of Mekarion in the Mausoleum. From there you’ll be able to enter a battle against Mekarion. Specifically, you will enter into the battle directly. No levels to grind through or shops to help, straight to battle. 

Each time you battle Mekarion you will deplete some of his health. Once enough Inquisitors battle him enough times that his health is fully depleted, Mekarion will be defeated. 

Important notes: 

  • Players can battle Mekarion a maximum of three (3) times per day.

  • A day is considered 00:00 PT to 23:59 PT.

  • Upon completing a Challenge Encounter, the player will be returned to the Mausoleum where they will see a summary of their battle. 

WHAT DO WE GET IF WE COMPLETE THE CHALLENGEIf the Community is able to defeat Mekarion and complete the Halloween Challenge, all those who participated will receive the newest exclusive wand - the Dreadmaw!

In addition to the community prize, the top 10 players who dealt the most damage to Mekarion throughout the challenge will receive his head as a trophy!

HOW WILL WE KNOW HOW MUCH HEALTH MEKARION HAS LEFT

Each time you battle Mekarion, you will see how much health he has left. 

WILL I SEE OTHER PLAYERS BATTLING MEKARION

No, Inquisitors will each enter a challenge encounter on their own. You’ll be able to battle him a maximum of three (3) times per day.

HOW WILL WE KNOW WHEN MEKARION IS DEFEATED

You’ll know when you deliver the final blow and finally kill him! That’s also when you will receive the Dreadmaw, the prize for the Halloween Community Challenge. 

CAN I CHOOSE MY LOADOUT FOR THE BATTLE?

No, you will enter each battle against Mekarion with a random spell loadout and no tarots or charms. 

HOW CAN I COORDINATE WITH THE REST OF THE COMMUNITY

Join the Charm Games Discord server! On our Discord server you’ll be able to meet other HexWind players, discuss the game & the challenge and chat with the development team when they’re taking a quick break from working on the game.

WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE HEXWIND?

This is an in-game event so if you want to participate, you’ll need to have HexWind. If you don’t, you can get it from Steam or Meta.

WILL THERE BE MORE EVENTS LIKE THIS

This is HexWind’s second Community Challenge and we definitely want to do more in the future. That being said, not all the events we here at Charm Games we want to do will be Challenges. We would like to also do events where Inquisitors must battle each other in asynchronous competition. We’re also thinking about community events outside of the game where we can have better conversations and more fun with the HexWind community. 

But your feedback will really help shape the type of events we do in the future. If you want to join the conversation, we encourage you to join our Discord server where you can share your thoughts and opinions about HexWind, Community Events or anything else you want to talk about.


COMMUNITY CHALLENGE RULES & REGULATIONS

  • The challenge period is October 24 @ 09:00 PT to November 2 @ 23:59 PT 

  • The following requirements must be met in order for a player to be considered as “Participated” in the Community Challenge and are therefore eligible to receive the event prize: Successfully completed a minimum of one (1) battle, in that they removed enough health from the boss to complete the battle. 

  • Players will enter each battle against Mekarion with a random spell loadout and no tarots or charms. 

  • Players who are found to be exploiting any in-game bugs to complete battles may be disqualified from the challenge.

  • Charm Games reserves the right to disqualify players from the challenge for actions considered to be unsportsmanlike conduct, both within HexWind or on Charm Games social media.

And it's time for some updates:

  • 🐟 added a new set of fish parts, so don't be surprised if your number of discovered fish go down noticeably.

  • 🐟 added some items that can be collected in the aquarium during active play.

  • 🐟 replaced the numeric rarity with descriptive one, as people found the numerics confusing.

  • 🐟 removed the more expensive fish eggs from the store, because the "more expensive" fish can be bred just as any other fish at this stage and people felt cheated with what they were getting for the price.

  • 🐟 overhauled the fish selling prices to make sure the more rare fish sell for more.

  • 🐟 also overhauled the breeding timers, because the initial breeding times were way too high.

Hopefully the game will become more dynamic now!

As we mentioned in our previous announcement, we are continuing to work full steam ahead on bug fixes.

In this update, we have made improvements to the auction, navigation, and construction sections, as well as resolving a few issues related to lighting in terms of optimization.

We will continue to add new features to the game and make bug fixes in the coming period.

Performance & Optimization

  • Various NPC performance improvements and bug fixes (ongoing).

  • A Shadow toggle has been added to the Ceiling Light interface.

    Players can now choose to disable shadows from light sources for better performance, or enable them for more realistic lighting and shading effects.

    You can see the FPS difference regarding the lighting optimization improvement in the image below.

    Both images were captured at 4K Epic settings with DLSS/DLAA settings.

Auction
  • Roof, Porch, Balcony, Garage, Pool, and Outdoor Furniture (Garden) now affect auction calculations.

  • Total cost is now visible directly in the Auction panel.

  • Added an Info Box to the Auction tab with key tips and details.

  • Done-stage changes now count: After moving a build to Done, any modifications you make will now correctly reflect in the auction (previously they didn’t).

  • Interaction lock (reason): Items that now affect the auction and are paid as part of the sale are locked from interaction during the auction phase and after the house is sold, so priced content can’t be altered.

  • A visual error that caused us to see different values than previously calculated when opening and closing the auction panel has been fixed.

  • Roof construction is incurring more consistent expenses, and this is reflected in the price based on the expenditures. This also applies to the balcony, porch, and garden.

Gameplay & Building
  • You can now access the nails of windows hidden behind ladders during construction.
    When holding a screwdriver and standing on the ladder, the ladder’s opacity lowers so you can see and interact with the window.

  • When Build missions (including Mail, Parcel, and Contract types) are canceled or replanned, any Consumable Cost spent up to that point is now refunded.

Navigation Improvement
  • Pathfinding has been significantly improved. Vehicles now follow lane-based routes for smoother and more realistic navigation.

  • When a route is set on the opposite lane, the system automatically adjusts based on your current direction, guiding you to make a proper turn at the next intersection.

Missions
  • Fixed an issue where Amid, Isabella, and Lin (the last three missions) could, for unknown reasons, reactivate after completion and get stuck in a loop.

  • Fixed a bug preventing “Amid Decorate Contract” from reaching 100% completion.

UI/UX
  • Outside Decoration (Optional) panel (under General Mission Progress) now includes items for Garden, Roof, Porch, Balcony, Pool, and Garage.

  • Resolved “Missing string table” errors in the Comments tab.

Localization
  • Chinese(Simplified & Traditional) localization has been revised and polished.

  • Korean localization has been revised and polished.

  • Polish localization has been revised and polished.
