We wanted to give an update talking about how the launch went and what we’re immediately working on.

Over the weekend we launched Path of Exile: Secrets of the Atlas. We are so thrilled to see the number of people who joined us for launch day. Welcome back, Exiles!

Starting with the elephant in the room, unfortunately our European servers have been facing a barrage of DDOS attacks. We understand that this issue has ruined such an anticipated launch for many players. This is unacceptable service and we are deeply sorry. We want to assure you that we are taking this very seriously and it is the highest priority problem for our company to solve. Due to the nature of these attacks, we’re unable to provide a timeframe on when it will be resolved but we do want to acknowledge that we do see the issue and are doing everything we can to mitigate this.

Another thing we caught just prior to the launch was an issue with our final console builds which did not affect our internal realms so couldn’t have been caught sooner than it was. Because this required brand new builds to be created, tested and then certified, this process took quite a long time to fix, but the console realms are now fully operational and players are able to login and play. We are implementing measures to prevent this occurring in the future.

While our system administration and backend team address the issues with the European servers, our development team continues to monitor feedback. Currently the leading issue we’re looking to address with the league is that a number of Mercenary skills, especially once you get to the middle of the campaign start to deal overwhelming amounts of damage to the player, often instantly killing you, you should expect a patch in the near future that puts all these skills more in line. This will not affect the Mercenary balance when they are your ally.

Additionally we’re looking at making some improvements to the Memory Skills granted in maps influenced by The Originator, we’ll have more updates on this later this week.

We also just wanted to give a huge thank you to all our players, be it those who have returned to play Path of Exile after a year with no expansions, and all those who are new to the game.

We’re very excited to not only once again be delivering content, but playing the game alongside you all.

There was a community-reported bug prevented the Broken Galvanic Cell from appearing on the map — but not anymore. We've just deployed a new build with the fix. Happy hunting!

NEW
  • Added a new TV Monitor next to the manager that helps visually point out the Manager. Additionally, when a player reaches the required quota to sign a new Contract, a large yellow quest text labeled, “NEW” bounces above the Manager's head to indicate a new contract is ready for singing. This should help make mew players/players who have been a away for a while be aware of the contract system and how to progress further into the game.

  • Added a new Player Tip when players have no days left (aka"Pay Day?"). The Tip displays the following message: "TIP - Head to the Drop off and turn in your loot. You MUST FINALIZE your Contract even if you don't have enough to turn in." This will help guide new players as to what they need to do when no days remain even if they don't have enough to meet the quota.

UPDATES
  • Relocated the “Manager” just outside the Burger shop as the player heads to the ship. Also updated his surroundings to help him stand out more. I want to make sure players are able to find the Manager easily and spot him earlier on as I have noticed players not able to find him or even realize he exists.

  • Flashlight now smoothly adjusts between standing and crouched states.

  • Redesigned a small portion of the Level 0 Dark Wood around the underground ruins that was causing issues with out of bounds traversal and map clipping.

  • Increased the interaction distance of Hidden Plush due to some of them being difficult/awkward to reach.

FIXES
  • Fixed an issue where the Compass was not properly updating the location of the ship icon.

  • Fixed an issue where the Day Counter would get stuck on “Pay Day?” rather an updating to Day 1 after finalizing or failing a contract.

  • Fixed an issue where Angler Fish were not despawning in the morning.

  • Fixed an issue where dropped items (non-placed) fall through the Elevator lift collision at Port Aeriss. KEEP IN MIND, dropping an item with physics while the platform is moving will still cause the item to slide momentarily before stopping and snapping so it could still potentially slide off the platform. "Aim-Placing" items is always the preferred method of locking them in place.

  • Fixed an unreachable Access Crate spawn location behind the level 2 teleporter at Port Ragnar.

Magecraft: Spellbuilding - Violet Grimoire

Change log:

  • Spells can now be used in multiple Decks at once, so you no longer need to remove Spells from one Deck in order to use them in another.

    • As part of this change, the Inventory now shows all Spells you own, including those added to Decks.

  • Combatants with an elemental affinity now have their element shown in a small emblem next to their HP bar.

    • These emblems also show up in the Elements popup (accessible via the icon with the three circles at the bottom left of the Combat screen).

  • Extra Parchment can now be bought from the Shop.
